Title: Manual vs Automatic?
Post by: mightytiges on November 05, 2007, 09:59:41 PM
Are you a manual or automatic driver?

I prefer a manual. Driving automatics feels like you're driving a toy car  :yep lol.

Ahh, the column manual. I got my licence in a 3 speed one.

I enjoy driving a manual but voted auto solely on stop-start heavy city traffic. My clutch foot gets worn out.   :P
Also, had a big/heavy 7 seater four wheel drive until a couple of years ago. Gears were great for out in the bush but a real pain if stopped at lights on a steep incline with a car right up your khyber.

The car I have now is auto with sports shift. At least I control when the gear automatically changes.  8)

I didn't get my licence until i was 25 - I couldn't handle driving manuals and that's all I was taught in.
Then I went out and bought the car - without the licence - and got an auto licence.
Never driven a manual since!

Don't tell that to the Maserati owners, they'll slap you with their leather gloves. ;D

Drive an auto but learnt on a manual.  Remember doing handbrake starts at the top of the hill in Toorak Road, where the Coles Myer Headquarters was. :help

I have my auto license, kinda got impatient and wanted my license fast so I learnt on an auto. I should learn to drive a manual though... maybe in the future sometime.

I learnt to do handbrake starts on a steep hill too. Release the clutch more slowly while giving more revs.

I love driving a manual car over auto but my back has forced me to drive an auto. But I really prefer to have a colume shift car. Much easier to change gears. But I remember riding the clutch at lights wiating for them to change. Now its all done with the hand brake. And it easier to do a wheely with an manual.

Up unitl a few months ago when I bought myself a new 4WD I was driving a manual and had been for ages.

I prefer manuals

But the model I wanted with the new car only came in automatic ...so I am now driving an auto.

Must say it is much easier in the mornings driving to work (read being stuck in traffic) in an auto than a manual :thumbsup
