Well done to Lee. :)
He apparently does heaps to help rural communities.
Happy for him and as long as I don't have to listen to him sing I'm happy for me.

A good choice. Congrats to Lee.

With all due respect to Lee Kernaghan I really struggle to understand how they chose the recipient of this award
Every 2nd year they just seem to pick some out that is well known eg a sportsmen, a celebrity
Maybe I am just getting more cynical in my old age :-\

Nah normally I'd agree WP about celebrities undeservingly getting Australian of the Year. In this case Kernaghan has raised $1 million himself towards drought relief for rural areas so at least he's done something significant to help people in desperate need rather than just being a country music singer/celebrity.

This is one Australian of the Year that I'm happy with. So for once those half wits that select who gets it have got it right. So well done to Lee as he's a worthy winner.
