Title: Underbelly
Post by: Moi on February 11, 2008, 07:30:42 PM
Will it get off the ground?
The show that is, not the belly lol
What are they gonna do if it gets a court order to stop?

Another year of CSI  :rollin

I reckon these meatheads have had enough exposure, rather watch CSI.

Although I might watch it to see if I recognise anyone in it  ;)

Good publicity for the show this will it won't it be banned talk. They wouldn't have made it if there was any serious threat to the show being cancelled says cynical me ;).

I wonder if they'll have certain AFL footballers in the story  :whistle.

Well as of the time of this writing the Court has ruled they cannot show it in Melbourne or on the internet

Silly me underestimated the stupidity of the legal system. How's banning the show in one state going to stop people seeing the show in Victoria. Hasn't this twit of a judge ever heard of the internet, dvds, vhs, etc...  :wallywink. So tiga, julz and everyone else here who lives interstate can watch it but we in Victoria can't just in case one of gets called up for jury duty  ::) :stupid.

CHANNEL 9 will appeal against a decision to ban crime drama Underbelly from airing in Victoria until after a gangland murder trial.

Absolutely BRILLIANT! I loved every minute and can't wait till next week. It has all the quality of a good feature film like "Two Hands" or "Chopper" and it is nothing like any of the previous crime show try hard efforts like "young lions" or "white collar blue". It's in a whole other league and you can tell that some serious money has been spent on it. The acting is first rate and the scripting is excellent. There are quite a few actors in Underbelly that have been under performers in previous projects but they have really impressed me thanks to a superior script and excellent directing.
I went into it not expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised. Its not banned here in NSW So I get to watch it all.  :thumbsup

I give it  :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Julz, I would suggest you at least tape it but if you are not into realistic violent themes, probably best that you give it a miss.

They're saying on the radio there's apparently some loophole for pubs to show it via an interstate satelite feed. Some pubs used a WA feed to show the first episode in Victoria.

Post by: tiga on February 15, 2008, 01:30:50 PM
I heard that too MT. They are replaying the first episode here on Sunday night as some people didn't get the chance to watch it.
Basically it rated its titties off up here. Personally I could never stand Vince Collossimo but in Underbelly he is brilliant!

Hopefully you guys will get it soon.  :pray

It was the Rising Sun in South Melbourne and they may be in contempt of court if there's no loophole.

I can understand the reason behind them banning it here but its bloody unfair that we didn't get to see it.
And that old chook whinging that it will make her family look like real bad people. Well if the hats fit wear it, as this is exactlly what they were, so I don't feel sorry for her or any of her family. They knew what was going on and were a full part of it. And they got what they deserved.

Well another episode of Underbelly has just screened and it just keeps getting better. I really feel for you VIC's missing out. Well it took 6 years before we could see "Blue Murder" up
here due to court proceedings. I hope you all won't have to wait that long. I think it might be on youtube anyway.

The court order looks like lasting a while now ..

Tony Mokbel loses Greek court fight
Charles Miranda
March 19, 2008

FUGITIVE Tony Mokbel has been ordered back to Australia, where he faces trial on murder and drugs charges.

It took just three minutes for a court to pronounce the four words Mokbel has dreaded since his arrest in Greece last June.

"You will be extradited," judge Constantios Sarandinos told him last night, in the Supreme Court in Athens.

Nine loses Victorian Underbelly appeal
Kate Hagan
March 26, 2008 - 10:02AM

Channel Nine has lost a court bid to screen the gangland TV series Underbelly before the completion of an upcoming murder trial.

The Court of Appeal has dismissed the application over Supreme Court Justice Betty King's ban on the series being screened in Victoria.

This means Nine cannot screen Underbelly until the murder trial, the details of which cannot be reported for legal reasons, is completed.

The murder trial is due to start on Monday.

The Court of Appeal slightly reworded orders made by Justice King in February so that they prohibit Channel Nine - rather than "every person in Victoria" - from broadcasting Underbelly and publishing a family tree detailing the series' characters on the internet.

In a summary of its decision, the Court of Appeal today said it accepted it did not have "power to bind the world" by a suppression order.

"An order made against the broadcaster not to publish the program or its related internet site in Victoria until after the completion of the trial was all that was necessary.

"However, any person who with knowledge of the orders deliberately seeks to frustrate their effect could be liable for contempt of court."

Everone should get the downloads,if not merely out of concern for the safety
of their famiulies and loved ones. :thumbsup

I for one think it is ludicrous that such events be kept from the Melbourne community from
which it came.

If they cant convict Mokbel because jurors have seen the series then
they're bigger f uc kwits than Roberta Williams.

Can always let him escape and shoot him on the run.

Heaps cheaper....

Well that was the impression I got from her in all the talks that had with her.
Unlike the Moran's mother she knew what was going on all the time.
