Currently watching the Lions v Weagles game and the Lions are playing like poo. The Weagles are playing worse than when they played us and the current score is Lions 113 West Coast 60 with 3 mins to play. A first gamer for the Lions called Dalziel is currently their highest posession getter. :o On theor form tonight and their effort against the Bombers last week, we are a real chance.
Hughes tambling out
Richo, Jackson in
-
There's no way Tambling will be dropped he was one of our best today
-
Forward line must not change no matter what. Since Riewoldt Morton and Hughes have played together in rd 13 one of those boys has proved to be the matchwinner.
Round 13 Cleve 6 goals win
Round 15 Jack 5 goals win albeit an easy one
Round 16 Mitch 4 goals win.
Sure they may have a bad game here and there but don't change the dynamics on merely a bad performance of one player by dropping him as a reactionary responce to a bad game. Hughes and Jack must play for the rest of the year in every game regardless of form for the mere development of these kids. Remember we are one tall down for the rest of the year in Polak.
If Richo is considered as a midfielder wingman then we have to find the room for him from the mids, smaller type running players. Possibly Edwards not b/c I thought he had a bad game but merely horses for courses. Then again maybe Schulz should make way if we are inclined to drop a tall for a tall.

I'm with you HT74 on Cleve, Jack and Morton staying together in the forward. They are going to have their good and bad days as youngsters. I would be lenient on Cleve too as he may still be dealing with what happened with Polak and the trauma involved.
We had 4 tall defenders playing today - Thursty, Moore, McGuane and Schulz. We should only need 3 to mind Brown, Bradshaw and a resting Charman/Clarke up forward as Richo floats down into defence at times too. I would drop say Schulz for Richo. Dropping another small IMO would make us light on for runners on the bench to rotate.
-
I don't want to see the confidence of a lad like TC or Cleve hughes knocked but we surely have to start richo in a pressure game. Cleeve out but getting gametime and Richo in.
-
Out: Cleve
In: Richo
Otherwise no change.
-
Good point MT. Richo should come in for Schulz. After watching the game over again I have to admit I was a bit harsh on Tambo. He should stay and Cleve also. Could stretch the Lions defence. Some of the Lions disposals were dreadful and any team other than the Eagles would have made them pay dearly. I'm hoping they keep it up. :thumbsup

It's good to see with Coburg winning there's pressure from below on spots in the side.
-
Out: Bowden (bringing the game into disrepute), Hughes
In: Meyer, Richo

Surely you're taking the pee about Edwards. Had a good game setting up multiple shots at goal. His 3rd quarter was good when everyone else was falling apart around him and then he was very valuable in the 4th with smart plays under pressure.
Edwards is a keeper in the firsts imo.
-
Cleve had had two weeks in row were has been held (if my memory correct). Let him get some more of it at Coburg and bring in Richo.

thats why i said or hughes.
When it comes to richo someone has to miss out. Thats what having depth does to a side

always some clown wanting Joel bowden dropped :lol wont happen
keep the team the same as let them jell

Cotchin Out ??? why ???

In: Meyer, Connors, Richardson
Out: Edwards, White, McMahon (lol)

Cotchin Out ??? why ???
Because he looks tired and he's a 10+ year player for us.
Running him into the ground could hurt his career
It's a marathon, not a sprint
-
Agree we have to be careful with him though he was coming of a six day break from perth..
Play him this week and if he still looks tired then give him a break..
-
In: Meyer, Connors, Richardson
Out: Edwards, White, McMahon (lol)
White was right up in the bests behind Foley and Brown imo.
Edwards was a huge part in winning the game in the last quarter.
McMahon was more than adequate.
Ridiculous changes.
-
Especially now Connors is out with a hammy
This hadn't been announced when I put in my changes
Will change mine to

Agree with all that TA. White and Edwards stood out when the going got tough after half time and McMahon is now a very integral part of the backline. These would be 3 of the last I would drop.

I understand Cotch may be tired but he now has 7 days to be ready to roll compared to about 5 days considering the delayed flight from Perth basically made Monday count for nothing as well.
I'd like to see Cotchin play, I think the 7 day break will be enough for him to be fresh again but the Perth trip certainly showed the strain last weekend.

who will make way for Richardson ?
-
who will make way for Richardson ?
The player that's in the worst form.
That's Cleve Hughes.
-
Midfielder for a midfielder....Polo out for Richo.

That's Cleve Hughes.
Except Richo is a mid and taking Hughes out will put more attention onto Riewoldt & Morton

Thought this might be brought up after I posted that.
I'd give Patto and Simmonds more time in the forward line when Richo is up on the wing.
Patto needs more game time imo and Simmonds can certainly play forward.
Let them share the time Richo is up the ground and not playing forward which he seems to for about 25% of quarters.

I think that can work with Simmo (3 goals against the Bombers) but not yet with Patto. Once the ball hits the ground we're effectively one down as far as forward line pressure. Also what happens is the best defenders will go to Jack and Mitch before the ruckmen as they are more a threat. The bombers had Michael on Jack and Ryder on Cleve IIRC. That freed up Mitch in the first half, Simmo when he was resting forward and Browny in the last. I'd rather give Cleve one more go as I think what happened to Polly has understandably affected him the past couple of weeks, but if he is dropped then Schulz most likely will have to play forward as we won't need 4 tall defenders.

Will be very disappointed if Cleve is the one to go. Just think that we need talls up forward and he is surely better than a resting ruckman, and he is a darn good finisher when he does get the footy. Hard to know who to leave out though

Bojangles on BF says the word at last night's cocktail party was
IN: Richo, Jackson
OUT: Hughes, Schulz?

3rd year KPP forward who has shown good signs in a winning team. Stick with him.

Its "WIN TIME" for the next few weeks while we try to make the finals.
"DEVELOPMENT TIME" is out the window until we definitely can't make the eight.
Hughes is well below what others are doing so I would suggest he goes back to Coburg for some confidence while Richo comes in (Auto pick) to give us more power and drive.
I also think that Polo might be out too. That mark he butchered in the last quarter was pretty ugly and he was dragged immediately. Connors or Jacko to come back in?

I think this point should be highlighted. We are looking more dangerous up forward because of our new structure and more specifically the unpredictability of the options. We don't want to ever get to stage where we are reliant upon any one forward to kick our score and even though Cleve has not kicked many goals over the last couple of weeks he has taken a strong defender which has freed up players like Morton, Jack, Browny and even Simmo.
What may happen this week is that Jack and/or Mitch are given the best defenders which will in tuen free up Cleve to kick a few goal for us. It is the good thing about having many viable options up forward and taking away one of them puts more pressure and focus the the the others.
Similiarly bringing Richo back into the mix will throw the dynamics and cause our midfielders to revert back to the 'Kick it to Richo' mentality once more. Richo is better now when he floats back into the forwardline, much like what Simmonds does, to stretch the defenders.
I think we should leave Cleve in there for structural reasons and just to give the young fellow enough opportunities to overcome the Polak incident and gain some much needed confidence. As tigerfan stated he is a great kick for goal and with the third or even fourth best defender this week he may be able to get his hands on the ball more.

Could not agree more Stripes. Top post :clapping.
If that rumour from BF about Jacko coming in is right then that means he'll tag Black again as Jacko completely shut him down last year in that draw.
