Richmond champion Matthew Richardson will qualify for automatic AFL life membership on Sunday when he lines up against Hawthorn in the Round 20 clash at the MCG.
It will be the 300th official game for Richardson since his league debut with the Tigers in 1993. He currently has played 273 premiership matches, along with 20 pre-season games, four State-of-Origin matches, and two International Rules matches.
‘Richo’ becomes just the seventh player to achieve this milestone exclusively with Richmond.
The other Tiger members of the AFL’s 300-game club are:
- Kevin Bartlett – 434
- Wayne Campbell – 330
- Jack Dyer – 326
- Dale Weightman – 317
- Matthew Knights – 309
- Jack Titus – 305
Richo also will join Dale Weightman in equal seventh place on Richmond’s all-time games list when he makes his 274th appearances for the Tigers, in Sunday’s match against the Hawks.

Looking at those numbers - Richo will be compared to Titus & Dyer 50 years from now.
His last 1/4 was insane :cheers :cheers

Yep. It was almost like he was trying single-handedly to atone for the previous week.

Richo's last qtr was inspirational
That effort on the members wing, one against 2 was a game breaker for mine

It sure was. The man is inspirational. Those efforts with two against him on the Members wing in the last quarter with him carrying a niggle was the stuff of legend. Apt he kicked the sealer and had the ball in his hands when the siren sounded. Shows that champions can bounce back straight away with match winning results (21 marks not too shabby at all!) when they occassionally have a bit of a stinker. When he plays his 300th AFL game I hope it is in Melbourne and it will be a slur on the footy club if they can't get up and win for him regardless of the opposition. A champion of our footy club and a champion of the AFL. Chose to stay loyal when he could have gone elsewhere. Would love to see him kick 10 goals in a match again preferrably against the Cheats Bummers or Skunks when the ground is full and the MCG will be rocking. Maybe then b/c of the opposition will those faceless gutless journos and uneducated footy public only just appreciate Richo's priceless value as a footballer. :thumbsup :clapping :cheers
