Title: Fleming gets 2
Post by: Bulluss on June 08, 2004, 08:13:42 PM
Flemo has got 2 weeks for his hit on Watson( i think that was his name)

I am fairly surprised at this, having only seen the incident live at the game i didnt think there was a great deal in it. Sure it was worth a free and 50 but thats about all i thought it deserved.

Especially after he showed great desperation to spoil about 5-10 mins after the incident.

Any chance of an appeal?

Richmond midfielder Tim Fleming has received a two match suspension from the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night after being found guilty of unduly rough play against the Kangaroos' Ashley Watson.

The incident occurred during a marking contest in Saturday night's game at Telstra Dome and Fleming said he had only been "trying to make a contest."

However reporting umpire Simon Meredith described his actions as "unreasonable" and "unnecessary" and the tribunal agreed.

It was the second suspension of Fleming's two year career, after he copped a three match ban for striking in round 19 last season.

He will miss matches against Fremantle at the MCG and against Carlton at Telstra Dome.
