Banks and Miller playing.
No Cumberland and Dow.
-
Three great kicks in a row. Faimalo from the wing into the corridor to Coulthard to open the play. Then Coulthard's perfectly weighted kick to 50 where Banks could run onto it and mark. Finally, Banks nails the goal from 50 :gotigers.
Rich 1.1-7
GWS 0.1-1
-
GWS get it straight back from the centre clearance.
7 all.
-
Ball spending most of its time in the Giants forward half. Ball-up on the wing. Didn't protect the defensive side. Another goal to them.
7 - 13
-
Biggie kicks goal of the year from the boundary line but the ump says it was touched off the boot. Biggie with his arms out looking bemused as do his teammates. No ARC in the VFL.
8 - 13
-
Another goal to them started upfield by us not protecting the defensive side of the contest :facepalm.
8 - 19
-
Good tackle by Lefau 45 out. Goes to the line. Bradtke looks to have taken the mark. Not paid. Rushed.
9 - 19
-
We get it back. Lefau marks 35 out. Makes the distance this time. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.3-15
GWS 3.1-19
23 min Q1
-
Throw-in 20 out. Lefau's snap is off the instep and just scrapes through for a point.
16 - 19
-
Miller out of the play for a minute. Looked to have copped a knock to the side/hip. Moving gingerly.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 2.4-16
GWS 3.1-19
Goals: Banks, Lefau
First 20 mins spent mostly in the GWS forward half. Last 10 mins we were able to apply forward pressure and gets a few repeat entries.
Undersized in the ruck when the Giants' No.1 is up against Brindley. Not sure why we are trying Biggie at centrebounces who is playing more half-forward it seems today.
No real standouts yet as far as our AFL-listers. Sonsie has 7 disposals but they have been more in the contest and back-half.
Coulthard looks to have good footskills going by that kick that set up our first goal.
-
Stats to 1/4 time:
Sonsie 7
Bauer 4
Biggie 3
Brown 3
Coulthard 2
Miller 2
Bradtke 1
Banks 1
Green 1

Good tackle in the centre allows us to get it inside F50. Hicks finds Green 30 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 3.4-22
GWS 3.1-19
2 min Q2
-
Hicks to Coulthard to Biggie on 50. From down town it hits the post. Unlucky.
23 - 19
-
Coulthard looked to be legged. Not paid.
Bradtke to the hot spot. Bilston-McGillen snap over his head misses.
24 - 20
-
Great stoppage play. Throw-in from the point post. Miller thumps it forward to where Green runs into an open goal :gotigers.
Rich 4.6-30
GWS 3.2-20
11 mins Q2
-
That's the third goal to GWS thanks to us not protecting the defensive side of a stoppage/contest :facepalm.
30 - 26
-
Bad turnover by foot by Teal. Gifts the Giants a goal.
30 - 32
-
Street good tackle in the centre (HTB free). Goes long and Biggie marks 35 out. No consistent momentum in his run up and he misses to the right.
31 - 32
-
Biggie good spoil and wins the free 40 out on the boundary. Misses to the left. Biggie now with 4 behinds.
32 all.
-
These umps :facepalm.
Biggie and Miller rush a behind but the ump pulls a "blocking" free to GWS. Gifts them a goal ::).
32 - 39
-
Lucky downfield free to us. Biggie with another shot. Directly in front 35 out. Yeah finally puts it through :gotigers.
Rich 5.8-38
GWS 6.3-39
27 mins Q2
-
High, high floating ball. Coulthard running back couldn't just hold onto it. Rushed.
39 all.
-
Ugly but in the end effective with Clohsey kick landing in Bilston-McGillen's arm by the boundary. Plays on and misses.
We get it back and from the kick-in and Green running into an open goal misses as well :P.
41 - 39
-
Half-time
Richmond 2.4 5.11-41
GWS 3.1 6.3-39
Goals: Green 2, Biggie, Banks, Lefau.
On top in general play for most of that quarter. But it was one of missed opportunities in front of goal, GWS only scoring off our bad turnovers, and some odd umpiring decisions.
-
Green couldn’t hit the side of a barn from 5m away
-
Stats to HT:

Biggie took the centrebounce and then ran forward. Johnson goes long from the centre and Biggie marks 40 out. Misses again. That's 1.5 for Biggie. Could have had a bag by now and clear BOG.
42 - 39
-
Dropped marks at both ends :facepalm. GWS gifted another goal and the lead.
42 - 45
Perfect kick by Coulthard to Bradtke on the lead but he dropped it.
Then at the other end, 3 Tiger defenders contest 10m out from the Giants goal. None of them can mark it spoiling each other and the GWS ruckman runs into an open goal :facepalm.
-
Throw-in by the point post. Olden crumbs the ball but misses a sitter 15m out.
43 - 45
Just shooting ourselves in the foot in front of the sticks :banghead.
-
Not seeing what Richmond likes about Bradtke. Needs to lead or play in front. Looks lazy and slow.
-
Transition by hand out of defence. Johnson long and Miller marks 35 out. He misses as well ::).
44 - 45
-
Absolutely stuffing pathetic. Auskick kids could kick these.
-
Of course, when the Giants go inside 50 they take their chances.
44 - 51
-
Sonsie long inside 50. Bilston-McGillen does well initially to bring the ball to ground and win it but he misses running into goal as well :scream
45 - 51
Amateur hour!
-
El Nour intercepts at HB. Gets to Brindley at HF to Biggie in the pocket. Misses of course like everyone else. 1.6 to Biggie.
46 - 53
-
Took the newbie Coulthard who hasn't been 2023 Richmondized yet to finally put one through the middle :gotigers.
Rich 6.16-52
GWS 8.6-54

Another GWS goal.

Our inside 50 connection is a disaster and we cannot convert.
-
Bradtke free 45m out on siren. Doesn't make the distance and was missing anyway. No score.
:banghead
-
Not seeing what Richmond likes about Bradtke. Needs to lead or play in front. Looks lazy and slow.
Needs more pre seasons under his belt. Not footy fit currently.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 2.4 5.11 6.16-52
GWS 3.1 6.3 10.6-66
Goals: Green 2, Biggie, Banks, Coulthard, Lefau.
Just embarrassing! Hacks in offence and clueless in defence.
Should be 10 goals up if we had any basic skill with the ball forward of centre and did the fundamentals without the ball.
Pathetic!
-
Disgusting. How much longer do we need to put up with Morris? He is as clueless as Mini Dud.
-
Who the stuff picked Tom Brown in the 1st round. He is slow and soft. One of our all time best drafting howlers.

Ball-up 40 out. White snaps but his kick goes off the side of the boot and bounces over the boundary line 20m out :P.
From the throw-in, Melville's snap goes through but it's touched off the boot and another point.
53 - 66
-
Clever by Sonsie to keep it in. Lefau on the boundary bananas another point.
54 - 67
-
Olden to Lefau 45 out. Goes to the square and Bradtke takes the contested mark 1m out. Even we can't miss it from there. Bradtke goal :gotigers.
Rich 7.18-60
GWS 10.7-67

We allow the Giants to waltz out of the middle with every Tiger flatfooted. Teal then kicks the bouncing ball OOTF. Terrible defending allows their ruckman to mark 20 out. Not sure what Miller was doing.
60 - 73
-
Johnson out of the middle. Bilston-McGillen is paid the free for a push (lucky) 35m out. His kick is a wobbly mess but it floats back and through :o :gotigers.
Rich 8.18-66
GWS 11.7-73
10 mins Q4
-
Geez we have some dumb players who don't do the obvious fundamentals and stuff things up.
-
Sonsie with a half-half shot/cross. Just sneaks in for a point.
67 - 73
-
OOTF by GWS 40 out. Bauer moved forward it seems. Misses.
68 - 73
-
GWS kick-in goes straight to Green 25 out. Misses of course :scream.
69 - 73
-
Of course, they kick a goal from 50 compared to our hacks who miss sitters.
69 - 79
-
We miss from 25m out, Giants nail one from outside 50 :lol
-
Biggie from 45 burns teammates and misses. 1.7 for Biggie today.
70 - 79
-
Brown :lol
-
Biggie has to play seniors
-
LOL. Only can kick goals from the goalsquare :lol.
Biggie finally kicks one :gotigers. 2.7 now.
Rich 9.22-76
GWS 12.7-79
26 mins Q4

3 chances to kick inside 50 and we handball till we stuff it up ::).
-
Green centres to Bauer who marks on the siren 20 out.
-
:lol
WE WON IT!
:rollin
-
:lol
-
Bauer kicked the goal obviously to win the game :gotigers
82 - 80
OMG! Can laugh now that we've won :lol.
-
Lol, tried to winning by kicking points
-
Final Score
Richmond 2.4 5.11 6.16 10.22-82
GWS 3.1 6.3 10.6 12.8-80
Goals: Green 2, Biggie 2, Banks, Bauer, Bradtke, Coulthard, Lefau, Bilston-McGillen.
Never seen a worse display of inept goalkicking in my life but we still pinched it in the end :rollin.
-
You know what's even funnier. These bunch of hacks are now in the top 8 :rollin
-
Biggie and Sonsie should be in line for a call-up if there are any changes to the senior side next week.
Biggie - could have had one of the best games you will ever see at VFL level. Rucked as well as pushed forward to have NINE shots on goal. He could/should have kicked a bag of 7 but ended up with 2.7.
Sonsie - good today. No surprise he was better in his natural position in and around the contest rather than at half-back where we've tried him over the last couple of weeks.
Green - if only he could kick! He nailed his first two but missed three sitters in the second half.
Bauer - aside from one OOTF in the first quarter, another solid game in defence. Sent forward late and kicked the winner.
Banks - quiet first half but came into the game more so after HT. Solid without standing out.
Bradtke - Awful first 2.5 quarters. No second efforts and couldn't take a mark on the lead to save himself. But once he clunked his first mark late in the 3rd and was played more as a high forward he actually started to present and give us a marking option down the line.
Brown - limited gametime in his first game back after a long layoff. Hardly sighted not surprisingly and no influence on the game.
Miller - so-so game. Not one that will get him back into the seniors.
Coulthard - more sighted early on. Didn't notice him too much after HT. That long weighted kick for Banks to run on and mark in the first quarter was a standout.
Trezise - Nothing we haven't seen before obviously. For me he is a good reader of the player and interceptor but his footskills are hit and miss.
-

Brown needs to spend more time concentrating on his own game and attacking contests rather standing and watching and barking instructions to his team-mates.
Coulthard was very impressive his 2 way running was outstanding
-
Brown needs more time because he's been stuffing injured all year. ::)
-
Brown needs more time because he's been stuffing injured all year. ::)
I know he has been injured
But when the ball bounces in front of you, you don't pull up because you don't want the body contact. He did a number of times today
And then in the next play is flapping his arms telling blokes where to stand...ummm no. >:(
Concentrate on your own game
-
Kid's a bit tentative after a long injury? Colour me shocked. If it continues after about a month then maybe start voicing concern. At the very least he doesn't compound it with poor disposal, even worse decisions and a badly dated hairstyle. :shh

Bauer boots after-the-siren goal to see VFL Tigers home
Richmond Media
4 June 2023
Richmond 2.4 5.11 6.16 10.22 (82)
GWS 3.1 6.3 10.6 12.8 (80)
Goals - Nyoun 2, Green 2, Lefau, Coulthard, Bradtke, Bilston-McGillen, Bauer, Banks
------------------------------------------------------------------
Twenty-first birthday celebrations don't come much better than what Jacob Bauer experienced on Sunday.
In front of family and friends, in his boyhood stomping ground of western Sydney, Bauer took a strong contested mark late in the fourth and was lining up for goal as the siren sounded.
For Richmond's VFL side, prior to that point of the match, transition, marking and contest work had not been an issue - inaccuracy in front of goal though had left the result resting on Bauer's right boot.
Swung forward to create some spark in the final quarter, Bauer didn't flinch and guided the Tigers home by two points over GWS, the final score reading 10.22 (82) to 12.8 (80).
Fanfare from the senior side watching on was fleeting as their attention turned to the afternoon's game, but for the man taken just over a year ago in the mid-season draft, it was into the grandstands where the celebrations continued.
The eager supporters who arrived early for the 9.30am start were treated to a moment to savour, when Mykelti Lefau kicked a goal in his return from more than 12 months on the sidelines with an ACL injury.
From a long set-shot, Lefau showed the class that had endeared him to VFL watchers in the opening stages of his debut season last year, and his teammates responded in emotional scenes.
A two-goal Steely Green cameo then followed to open the second quarter as the Tigers went on their best goal-kicking run of the match.
A week after kicking four goals for the Glenelg Tigers, Matt Coulthard registered his first in his new Yellow and Black kit, calmly splitting the middle on the run to cap a whirlwind four-and-a-half days.
But aside from the rare highlight, the visitors were faltering in front of goal. Conversely, the Giants made the most of their limited scoring opportunities across the first three quarters to open a 14-point lead at the final change.
The weight of numbers were comfortably in the Tigers' favour in clearances, tackles and inside 50s, they just needed to keep the belief that saw them fly home and defeat Essendon in the Dreamtime match last time out, a fortnight previously.
Kaelen Bradtke and Ben Bilston-McGillen's final-term goals were quickly answered by GWS, but there was again another late Tiger surge.
On another day, Bigoa Nyuon could have had his name in lights and been right in contention for a senior recall.
After missing a shot at goal to take his day's tally to 1.7, the 22-year-old kept running and presenting as an attacking option. Lefau set him up in the goalsquare late in the match for his second major, and it was testament to his attitude that he competed in the contest which saw Bauer mark and win the day.
Skipper Lachie Street led from the front all morning, picking up an equal-game high 28 possessions, a game-high 10 clearances, and equal-game high seven inside 50s.
The challenges keep coming for the VFL Tigers, with a home game next Sunday against Werribee who currently sit in the top four. A warning for attendees, these Tigers are not for the faint of heart.

VFL Report: Round 11
Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Sunday's two-point win over GWS at Giants Stadium.
Tyler Sonsie (22 disposals, six inside-50s, four clearances)
"Didn't have the game that we've come to expect of him at this level. He'll be looking to bounce back with an improved performance next week."
James Trezise (17 disposals, eight marks, five tackles)
"His good was very good, he's a really exciting player for Tigers fans moving forward. His contest work is brilliant and one on one, he's as good as anyone."
Sam Banks (16 disposals, four rebound-50s, three marks, one goal)
"Struggled to get into the game on the wing on the first half so we put him in the backline and I thought he was really important with his run and contests. It was also nice to see him finish a really beautiful set-shot from outside 50."
Bigoa Nyuon (15 disposals, 10 hit-outs, five marks, two goals)
"Had a fantastic game. Would have loved for him to convert a bit better in front of goals, but he's getting himself to some fantastic positions and is looking extremely promising forward of the footy."
Steely Green (13 disposals, three marks, two inside-50s)
"Really pleased for Steely to have a breakout game. He could have easily influenced the scoreboard more heavily, having missed a couple of gettable shots, but I'm really proud of his mature decision to centre the ball right at the end of the game when he could have gone the glory shot from the boundary."
Jacob Bauer (12 disposals, six marks, six rebound-50s, one goal)
"I really liked the version of him that we saw on the weekend. He was rally powerful in the air with some big spoils that made a big difference to our defence. And he looked strong in the air when he went up forward in the final quarter as well. It's nice to see him have flexibility and impact at both ends of the ground."
Ben Miller (12 disposals, eight hit-outs, four marks, four tackles)
"A really solid game. Importantly, He did't lose many aerial contests at all on the day, and I thought he set us up really well when he moved down back late in the game."
Matt Coulthard (11 disposals, six inside-50s, five marks, one goal)
"Tigers fans would be really pleased with what they saw from him in his first game at VFL level. It was really pleasing to see not only his offensive impact, but he's someone who can influence the game heavily on defence."
Tom Brown (nine disposals, three tackles, three rebound-50s)
"Played down back in his first game for the year. He didn't have a huge offensive output, but what I saw from him defensively was a real willingness to defend, and it's a really good starting point for his season. Late in the game he was able to find a free player in the corridor with some slick hands to give us our final scoring opportunity."
Kaelan Bradtke (eight disposals, four marks, one goal)
"Hot and cold game from him. He stood out in the air at different stages, taking three contested marks, but I'd love to see him be able to halve a few more contests and have a little bit more impact when the ball hits the ground."
