well I should of stayed  cause today they shut the gates and said bye bye to over 1500 workers  >:( :( :-\
 may just have to take a good hard look at that move to melbourne  any mines within a  short drive to punt road
where was the job 632?, i have 3 kids in Port Hedland that I'm a tad worried about, one with BHP  and 2 unrelated to the mines but their jobs are a byproduct of the influx of people who work in the mines. Worse comes to worse, they move back in here

Thing that gives me a bad taste in my mouth abount these redundancies/sackings is that I reckon a lot of these are motivated by retaining profits to levels during our boom time in the last 5 or so years.

Instead of accepting profits going backwards to more modest levels companies are going to extremes to maintain profit levels.

Ravensthorpe Nickel Operations   fly back down tomorrow to get all the bad news hopefully there isnt to much of it and a new position is just around the corner  heres hoping and praying :pray
