Training to switch to Victoria Park
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:41:43 PM »
Off BF:

Quote
At the Player Sponsors dinner tonight Gale said that work will begin on the punt road oval expansion thing in 3-4 weeks

From then, we will train at Vic Park for the remainder of this year. Punt Road will be ready for preseason

Something to do with the seeding being best done in the winter months.

Hardly ideal, but a reminder that we have a way to go before we have an ideal setup

Yep that's what Benny said.

Punt Road will be re-configured to the same dimensions of Etihad Stadium and be ready for pre-season in November

It was really good night too

Why on earth do we want Etihad dimensions when we play home games at the MCG?

I cannot understand this. If we're putting so much time and $ commons sense is make it equivilent to the size of where you play teh majority of your games.. = MCG.

Hard to give a summary because the night is not a formal type function with lots of speakers it is more about people having a chance to sit down and getting to know your sponsored player while enjoying a really good feed

And how do you suggest they make punt road oval the  same dimension as the MCG?

Extend onto brunton avenue or perhaps punt road. Better yet why not knock down the new building that would work

Fact is they can't  :wallywink

Not only that the whole idea of Craigieburn was to give the club a training venue with MCG dimension but for some reason the club has chosen not utilise this facility. They have an MCG ground available but chose not use it

Fair enough lol, didn't think of the size contraints. However seeing as the whole Punt Road establishment has been redone, would it have been impossible to allow for a replica size of the MCG when we rebuilt the stands?

the grass on the punt rd oval is terrible.
Sooner the better.
Some suburban grounds are better.
Interesting they train at Vic Park.
A better option might have been Elsternwick Park.
Big oval , fantastic grass cover

Yeah but they'd argue not close enough to the other facilities (eg gym, pool etc)

I reckon that's the reason they don't use Craigieburn too far too travel  ;D
