Tigers vs Port game thread
« on: August 24, 2010, 02:38:43 PM »
Can we do the double (win home & away) over Port this week?

The Tigers belted the Power by 47 points in round 10 to record their first win of the year, and Cotchin said it would be great to beat them again, especially given their improved form since club legend Matthew Primus took over as caretaker coach.

"Obviously our win earlier in the year was really exciting, and Port have come a long way in the last four or five weeks, so we're really looking forward to the challenge.

"Hopefully it can be a really good game for the last one of the season."

When is this game played and who is broadcasting it?

And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Port won their final "home" game of the year....I have a feeling they will just go through the motions this week and we will send Benny off in style.

It's pretty simple - if we turn up with our "vs St Kilda" hats on then we will win well, if we turn up with our "vs Carlton" hats on we will get flogged.

RICHMOND
A good effort against the Saints and some tired bodies should mean few changes. Last week's experiment with one ruckman didn't work all that well, so expect Andrew Browne to return. Will Thursfield has a corked thigh, so young Dylan Grimes, who has been excellent at Coburg, could get his first run at senior level. Ben Nason is looking very tired, and could make way for Jeromey Webberley.

Yeah Nason looked very tired last week.... :-\

Hoping that Jack has the Coleman medal sown up before the start of this game, so we can relish the fact that he had won, and not hang on every touch hoping for the goal or two required to repass Hall....

QUESTION MARKS
Can the Tigers give Cousins a fairytale finish? The young Richmond side has tired in the latter part of the season, losing five of its last six games but might will itself over the line in his AFL swansong.

Can caretaker coach Matthew Primus end his audition for the top job with his fifth win from seven starts? It will be hard for the club to pass over the former skipper’s application if he does.

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
On current form, you’d say the Power, but it’s hard to gauge how much of an impact the emotion surrounding Cousins’ retirement will have on the inexperienced Tigers.

Port Adelaide has recorded just two wins, against West Coast and Essendon, away from AAMI Stadium this season and the combination of Cousins’ farewell and a red-hot Jack Riewoldt might be enough to get Richmond the win.

PREDICTION
Richmond by 17 points

Current form! WTF? Port at home beat melbourne who have a whole 2 more wins than us!
We gave the saints a red hot run for their money, we'll smack port - "As long as we don't bring our Carltank hats" ^ lol
Rather have Jack home and hosed but wouldn't it be more fun if he had to chase 2 or 3 for victory, Bulldogs have the Bummers so maybe he just will have to chase. :help :gotigers

Will be really interesting to see how Jack plays depending on what is needed for the Coleman
If he's 1-2 behind will he step up and dominate or choke?
If he's already in front, will he play with freedom and kick a bag, or will he be disinterested?

Footscray would need to give the ball to Hall at all times for him to end up in front of jack. Would need to kick 10 to 11 to make it interesting. Cant see it myself, I think Jacks home!
