The Christmas Fans' training night for 2005 will be held on Thursday, December 15 at Punt Road Oval.

We are looking forward to a fantastic afternoon for the whole family beginning with competitions and activities from 3.30pm.

At the conclusion of the teams' training session supporters will have the opportunity to meet the players and get plenty of autographs from their favorites.

Santa will also make an appearance at the end of training.

A sausage sizzle will also be served throughout the afternoon.

RICHMOND'S Brett Deledio reaffirmed his status as the AFL's fastest man over 100m at Punt Rd yesterday.

The Grand Final sprint champion quickly dispatched WA recruit Jarrad Oakleigh-Nicholls at the club's mini-Olympics to retain bragging rights at Tigerland.

Deledio won in 10.95sec, but Oakleigh-Nicholls had earlier participated in a relay.

It wasn't all gold for Deledio, with Matthew Richardson downing him in the 400m.

Another new boy, pre-season draft pick Matthew White, won the 2000m time trial.

They showed the last half of the sprint on Sport Tonight last night. Lids just blitzed them easily . Nice psychological motivation work by Terry the other week to prick Lids' ears.

It looked as though Kel Moore came second  and White third. Asking Oaks to run it straight after a relay was a bit of a let-down.

Yeah I went - got there just after 5.00 - training proper was just finishing. So I cannot comment on that. Gotta say it was small crowd compared to last year

Then they had the tiger Olympics - have to say I wasn't paying much attention for most of it. Enjoyed the 400m race - Richo won - you gotta love him poor fella was stuffed after it. 

In the 4 x 400m relay Joel Bowden dropped the batton at the start of the race - can anyone explain how you can do that

Everyone wanted the 100m sprint - Lids was on song and won easily and yes it was Kel Moore who came in 2nd. Why they had poor JON running the final leg for one of the teams of the 4x400 was strange bizarre and defintely a letdown when it came to the sprint.

I left as soon as they announced at 7.00pm that the MCG carpark was closing at 7.15pm

Its a shame they pumped up Deledio Vs OakleyNicholls then had the kid run the relay 5 minutes before the sprint. Deledio has the kid covered, but dont pump up the sprint and then make sure 1 kid cant win lol....fiasco!

Maybe threats came from some rabid Qld fan that if anyone finished in front of Richo there'd be hell to pay. Apparently if Simmonds was running then Lids would have come 3rd (or else).

Brett Deledio has finished his first full year of AFL football with yet another award . . .

The super-talented Tiger teenager won the coveted 100-metre sprint at Richmond’s mini-Olympics, held at Punt Road last Thursday (December 15) evening, to add to his AFL NAB Rising Star triumph, his Richmond Rising Star success, his AFLPA Best First Year Player victory, and his first-placing in the league’s Grand Final day sprint.

‘Lids’ blew his rivals away in a scorching 10.95 seconds run to retain the title of Richmond’s fastest man. Kelvin Moore finished an admirable second, with pre-season draft selection Matthew White in third place.

Another Tiger newcomer in Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls, who was mooted as the main danger to Deledio in the sprint, finished down the track after competing in the previous race at the mini-Olympics, the 4 x 400m relay.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Lids throughout the evening, as he lowered his colors in the 400-metre race to the Club’s “goalden oldie”, Matthew Richardson.

The 30-year-old Tiger superstar ran his heart out to cross the finishing line first, just ahead of Deledio.

Other results in the Tiger mini-Olympic events were:

• 2km trial: 1st – Matthew White

• Bench press: 1st – David Rodan

• Goalkicking: 1st – Greg Tivendale

• ‘Speccy’ mark: 1st – Troy Simmonds

• Floating mark: 1st – Alistair Neville

• Championship kick: 1st – Jay Schulz

• Skill testing: 1st – Kane Johnson

The mini-Olympics were a highlight of Richmond’s Christmas Fans’ Training Day, which attracted a large crowd of Tiger devotees to Punt Road to watch their heroes go through their paces at a special training session before the athletic activities kicked off.

LOL Fish.  Gee I wish I had thought of that.  In reality I am asking because on some other forums there is the suggestion that Lids took pity on the older bloke and not wishing to hog all the glory, let Richo win.

Like who? I think Wallace has done a decent job at cleaning out the list. No doubt another major batch of delistments is needed next season but then it will start to look alot more healthy I'd think.

That's what a lot of people were saying on the night but I must say Richo didn't do anything underhanded during the race unlike a few others who were pushing and shoving
