Deal done

Cordner to Carlton and we also gave up pick 14 to the Saints for Greiser

Fair to say I'm absolutely staggered  :banghead

Haven’t seen anything of Greiser and was going to ask but I think WPs post is enough

Chuck:

No issue with Greiser; solid replacement for Wakefield = she fills a need

I am exceptionally disappointed to lose Cordner; even though they are saying she wanted a "fresh start". One of the best defenders in the comp and brilliant leader.... yes she missed s7 but too good a player to trade away

And I hate giving up 1st round draft picks
Was really looking forward to seeing Cordner again in defence she is a great defender.
I’m devastated
  :(
The club that keeps giving.

Courtney Jones is now a Tiger in a straight swap for Maddy Brancatisano who has gone to the Suns.

'I looked at her, and couldn't do it': Jones' trade request unlike any other

COURTNEY Jones didn't want to leave Gold Coast after one season.

But the new Richmond forward – and the Jones family – want to share why she requested a trade.

In January, Jones' 13-year-old sister Mikaela was diagnosed with stage 3-4 medullary thyroid cancer, a rare type that makes up less than two per cent of thyroid cancer diagnoses.

We're traded pick 27 to the Swans for medium defender/wing Molly Eastman.

Click pic/link to watch highlights of Eastman:

https://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/1283595/molly-eastman-highlights

------------------------------

Richmond has welcomed medium defender/wing Molly Eastman to its AFLW list following a trade with Sydney today.

In exchange for Eastman, Richmond has parted ways with its second-round selection at the 2023 AFLW Supplementary Draft, currently No. 27 overall (received initially from Essendon for Kodi Jacques).

Eastman, a former North Melbourne VFLW captain, is fresh off a terrific debut season in the competition, playing every game and finishing 7th in the Swans Season 7 AFLW Club Champion Award.

The Victorian averaged 10 disposals and 3.8 tackles per game across the season, with her best performance (15 disposals, four tackles) coming in the much-anticipated Sydney derby against GWS.

Quick, competitive, skillful and an excellent decision maker, Eastman will add to Richmond’s defensive and midfield stocks.

Eastman will be reunited at Richmond with former North Melbourne (VFLW) teammate Meagan Kiely. The duo finished as the top two in the Roos’ 2021 best and fairest.

The 24-year-old is also a former local football teammate of star Tiger Ellie McKenzie, with the pair first flourishing together at the Fitzroy Junior Football Club.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan, said Eastman had been eager to get closer to home and complete her studies at Melbourne University, where she is undertaking a Doctor of Physiotherapy.

“We are delighted to welcome Molly to Richmond; she is a rebounding defender and winger that has stood out in the Victorian state leagues for a long period and has now proven she is a quality AFLW player,” she said.

“Molly had an excellent season up in Sydney where they got the best out of her, so we were delighted when she requested a trade to Richmond.

“We thank the Swans for their understanding of her situation and are grateful to have been able to facilitate a trade.”

Shelby Knoll lands at Tigerland

Recruited from: Castlemaine/Casey Demons VFLW
Position: Key forward
Height: 178cm
DOB: 31/10/00

By Richmond Media
4 March 2023

Richmond has used its selection (pick No. 24) in the AFLW Season Eight Supplementary Draft to recruit Castlemaine/Casey Demons VFLW key forward Shelby Knoll.

The 22-year-old arrives at Tigerland following an impressive season last year with Castlemaine in the Central Victoria Football League.

A prominent goalkicker, Knoll booted 52 goals in 16 games in Castlemaine’s 2022 premiership side, including bags of nine and six goals in two games last April.

Her stunning form continued into the Interleague game against the Northern Country Women’s League, where she kicked seven goals for the Central Victoria's side and was judged best player on the field.

She slotted two critical goals in Castlemaine’s Grand Final victory over Golden Square, before being named in the the Central Victoria Football League Team of the Year.

Knoll had signed on with the Casey Demons in the VFLW for the 2023 season and made impressive progress within their system over the pre-season.

Richmond Women's Recruiting Manager Trent Mosbey said Knoll had significant upside and would be a welcome addition to the Tigers' forward line.

"Shelby is a consistent goalkicker, with her kicking skills a real feature of her game. She plays an exciting brand and challenges the opposition both in the air and at ground level," Mosbey said.

"Her strengths are her contested marking, her aerial ability in flight, athleticism for her size, and her competitiveness as a target down the line or inside 50.

"We believe Shelby has exciting growth to come in her game which we are excited to help her develop within our system.

"We see her slotting into our forward line in the future alongside Katie Brennan, Caitlin Greiser, Courtney Jones, Emelia Yassir and Stella Reid, and adding to our strike power for the future."

Knoll, who has a twin brother, was inspired by her family, particularly her grandad, to take up football at 14 years old. She started her career with Kangaroo Flat in Bendigo and also played one season with the Bendigo Pioneers.

Draft analysis: What each selection means for your club

Gemma Bastiani and Sarah Black

Shelby Knoll (pick No.24)

A key forward from Castlemaine, Knoll has only this year made the jump up to VFLW level, playing with Casey Demons. Knoll was previously in the talent pathway, playing for Bendigo Pioneers in the then-TAC Cup of 2018.

Her kicking is a key attribute, as is her overhead marking. The Tigers have rejigged their forward line over this player movement period, losing Courtney Wakefield to retirement but bringing in Caitlin Greiser and Courtney Jones, and capped off with the signing of Knoll.
