Injury update 2023
« on: December 07, 2022, 05:52:00 PM »
Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan's injury update:

Dylan Grimes hamstring update

"He's been really good. He returned on Monday and he's in great shape. He's already joining in on skills and we're looking to have a really healthy Dylan next year, everything's been positive so far."

Soldo progression from wrist surgery

"He's going really well. He's already joining in on non-contact skills and is looking to be really fit and ready to be in full training in January."

Jack Graham's toe surgery

"Jack's a victim of his own toughness. He battled all year with his toe issue and got to the end of the season and we gave it a rest in the hope that it would improve. We found out at the start of November that things weren't improving and we needed an intervention, and so he had some surgery. That's gone really well from all reports, he's already out of the moon boot and he'll look to start running in January and he'll have a big January/February looking to build into games at the start of the season."

Sam Banks' return from hip surgery

"He's going really well, he's already back into almost full training. There's no issues there and it's good to have a fit Sam around the Club."

Injury Report 2023

RFC website
16 January 2023

Richmond’s Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan provides an injury update.

Josh Gibcus, hamstring

"Unfortunately, Josh suffered what we think is a pretty serious hamstring injury (on Monday). It's pretty fresh, he will consult specialists in the next couple of days and we'll know the plan of action from there."

Tom Lynch, plantar fasciitis

"Tom had a bit of a carryover injury from the end of last season, a bit of plantar fasciitis. We had a surgical intervention just before Christmas and since then, things have gone really well. He's back out running on the track and progressing really well."

Nick Vlastuin, rib

"Nick unfortunately suffered a hit to the ribs last Thursday and has a little crack in his ribs. So, he'll be non-contact the next couple of weeks, but is still on track for the start of the season. He'll be able to run and things like that, we just need to keep him out of contact."

Jack Graham, toe

"Things are really looking up for Jack. He's building his running loads and going through his progressions really well. We're hoping to get him into some football in the coming weeks. Things are looking good."

So mention of the bloke who was on crutches at the camp?  :-\

Hopefully we get a full update from the Club this week

So has anything come out about Prestia being injured or should we just chalk it down to a standard big footy bs rumour?

Kaleb Smith will be sidelined for several months with a bone stress injury (in his foot).

Hopefully, it was just minor and is short-term. Prestia didn't do the wrestling drills at the Camp but he seemed to do most other things such as the bike ride.

Richmond is managing the loads of veterans Dylan Grimes and Dion Prestia in a bid to ensure the pair can get through the season after hamstring injuries ended their respective campaigns last year.

Co-captain Grimes and midfield bull Prestia both trained away from the main group at Punt Road on Monday morning as the Tigers hit the track for the first time since their pre-season camp at Apollo Bay.

If the Royals don’t need a spare then we don’t need them either
