Oh wow. A lot more available than anticipated. Will be close to best 23 for Thursday then apart from Tarrant.

Injury Report: Round 3, 2023

Richmond Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan provides an update on key players ahead of Round 3.

https://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/1293571/injury-report-martin-short-hopper-lynch

----------------------------------------------

Dustin Martin, hamstring awareness

"We made the decision during the game to take Dustin off the ground, given his injury history and the six-day break. We're just going to monitor how he recovers off the game and make a decision on Wednesday and see if he gets through training with regards to playing this week."

Jayden Short, calf

"Jayden's been battling a bit of a calf problem on and off for the last couple of weeks. We're going to make a decision now to not play him this week and get him to do some strong rehab training on it, and get himself right for the rest of the season."

Jacob Hopper, knee

"It was pretty ugly, he's actually pretty lucky. Jacob's experienced a little bit of joint soreness in his knee and we're going to monitor him on Wednesday and see how he recovers and make a decision. He's probably doubtful at this stage, but we'll see how he is on Wednesday."

Tom Lynch, corky

"Lynch copped a pretty heavy knock. Given how important he is to us and his limited prep, we thought it would be best to get scans. But, he's okay and he'll be available this week."

Robbie Tarrant, hip

"Robbie had a really good session on Saturday morning and seems to have turned the corner. We'd like to give him a couple of good weeks of training before we play him, but we're getting some improvement and hopefully he'll be available in the next week or two."

Ivan Soldo, foot

"Unfortunately, he's developed a little bit of plantar fasciitis. Given how big and heavy he is, we're going to make sure we get this right and he is unavailable for the short-term at this stage; possibly medium-term."

Josh Gibcus, hamstring

"Josh is over the issues he had with his wound now. He's slowly progressing and is coming along really well. We'll have more of an update in a couple of weeks once he starts running a bit faster."

Tom Brown, wrist

"Tom's been training non-contact. He has an appointment with his specialist next week and will probably get another scan on his arm, and hopefully he'll get good news and he'll be available next week or the week after."

Kaleb Smith, foot

"(He's progressing) really well. He's running outside. It's still early days (but) he's building a base again and we'll have a bit more of an update in a couple of weeks."

Seth Campbell, groin load

"Seth's going really well, he's back into training. As long as he trains really well this week, he'll be available this week to play which will be exciting."

 Jacob Hopper     Knee               Test
 Dustin Martin     Hamstring        Test
 Tom Brown        Wrist            1-2 weeks

 Mate Colina       Back            6-11 weeks
 Kaleb Smith      Foot             6-11 weeks

Early prognosis
First, the good news – Lynch will play after scans cleared him of any serious damage. Martin was subbed and needs to get through training this week, while Hopper is less of a chance to face Collingwood with some soreness in his knee. Short has been ruled out, needing a proper rest after playing through a calf issue. Tarrant should be back in the next two weeks, but Soldo has developed plantar fasciitis and needs a solid block of recovery time. – Sarah Black

Short to miss Bulldogs clash, but Martin and Hopper set to play

By Richmond Media
4 April 2023

Jayden Short will miss Saturday's clash with the Western Bulldogs, while Dustin Martin and Jacob Hopper are set to return.

Short has been ruled out of the Round 4 match at the MCG due to the calf issue which also saw him unavailable for Round 3.

Martin and Hopper both also missed last Friday night's game against Collingwood through general soreness and a knee complaint respectively.

"Jayden will progress through a gradual running program and is unavailable in the short-term," Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan said.

"We're putting in some strong rehab training to make sure that we get it right for the rest of the season.

"Dustin and Jacob trained strongly over the weekend and are available to play."

Young defender Tom Brown will be unavailable for the medium-term after suffering a setback in his recovery from a wrist injury.

"Unfortunately Tom had an appointment with a specialist on Monday and the decision has been made to have surgery on his wrist, ruling him out for the medium-term," Meehan said.

Um no, it wasn't a normal hamstring. He ripped it off the bone. A significant injury that required surgery

And then got an infection around the wound.

10+ year player, no need to rush.
