Danny Frawley - 100
« on: May 18, 2004, 04:57:01 PM »
Danny achieves a rare milestone at Tigerland - 100 games as coach - this weekend. I've been a critic of his coaching in terms of tactics but well done to bloke. After all he went through in the media a few weeks back he deserves some positive recognition. Hope the boys get themselves up for this game as a fitting tribute as Danny has had undenying faith in them. I wonder if the Cheer Squad will put Danny up on the banner  :). It couldn't be any worse than the bombers celebrating their CEO on the banner last week  ::) .

100 games as Richmond coach.  Considering our history with coaches, it's a noteworthy achievement.

Does Danny's milestone cancel out Gavin Wanganeen's upcoming milestone? ;D

Probably does TS as at least Danny's 100 is real whereas, as pointed out to me, Wanganeen's "300" includes pre-season games etc  ;) .

I've always thought they were a bit dodgy over there.  ;) ;D

Quote from www.richmondfc.com.au article:

Quote
Well, by the time Tommy Hafey reached the milestone, he had guided Richmond to five finals matches, including two premierships.

The under-rated Dan Minogue also had two premierships under his belt, while Jack Dyer had six finals games to his credit by game No. 100 – including the 1943 premiership.

Not to be outdone, Percy Bentley also had six finals games, including one premiership, when he chalked up his ton.

And, finally, Tony Jewell had taken Richmond to three finals matches, including the
1980 premiership, by the time his 100 games came around.

Makes you wonder hey - what's Danny's?  2 finals - a win and a flogging against Brisbane.  If you're going to compare records and achievements, i think Danny falls mighty short of what we expect of someone's who's been around long enough to coach 100 games.

Just goes to show that you don't have to know much to make some sort of achievement.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

IMO,Frawley had a chance to get the boys fired up and
playing good footy up until the guy slagged on him.
It was then that the players themselves realised they're input
was far below par and thru no influence of Danny made a
concerted effort to lift the standard.

To blame the loss of Staff and 'Cho for a total capitulation
to sides like Geelong and Melb isn't good enough.

We'd lost 3 on the trot, the heat was on him big time and he
was totally clueless, pulling players off the field as they began
to have an influence on the game and leaving guys that were being
beaten on.The media felt compelled to voice advice to the man
on death row.

If this is somehow,In the eyes of the coaching commitee
mis-construed as Spud seeing thye light
and finally delivering come crunch time,God help us.
We'll never get rid of him!
