I hope it comes true.
But I have to say I didn't tip us.
That would be one tip I would love to lose out on.

Doing well to lose by under 80..
Perhaps not so much in terms of 'kids' but in lack of players older than 23 i don't think
i have seen such a young side in the afl..
-
I'm pretty confident too 8)
Think Post will make our forward line alot more potent with that second tall target to hep out Reiwoldt. The dogs don't many tall forwards like Carlton do so we won't really struggle for height down there. Our midfield will be better for last weeks run although we'll miss Cousins. Hopefully we have enough midfielders today so we don't tire out. Would be nice to have Foley, Cousins and Roberts out there. I think King will end up running in the midfield a bit as well as up forward
-
You might find Post down back, McGuane pushed forward ;).

cant see us getting within 12 goals but I hope Im massively wrong and Jacko is massively right.

Why isn't it widely knowledged that we are at the start of a serious rebuild.
Dont tell me a movement is already on to topple the new regime.
-
theres no movement hardwick and gale just arrived- they will get their chance over the next 3 to 5 years to improve our situation

Yep wrong to place unrealistic expectations on a new coach with such as young team at this point against a top 8 side.
Heck we've beaten soo many over the past few years. :P

jacko would you take richmond with the points in today?

Will be interesting. As long as we have have two 192cm+ talls in defence and attack

what did you guys think of Ritchies game tonight?..Me i thought he continues to seem like an outsider looking in,not really prepared to get down and dirty..anyway thats juat my opinion on a player who when we drafted him, were expecting not just big but huge things from.
On the bright side dustin martin just keeps getting better and better, and trent is doing likewise

Martin is miles ahead of Richard.
Would say that Tambling is a failure and will/should be traded as years end. NOT UP TO IT, plays scared
-
Best today. Cotchin,Martin Thursfield. McGuane, the rest you wouldnt pee on
Had enough of Jackson as well, :banghead might as well play Tuck if you gunna play Jackson
-
McGuane busted his nut today, was really proud of him.
Boy I might be seeing things out there ,but are jackos turnovers get more, and now it seems he's also aware of this and his first option now seems to handball it off
-
Jackson is RUBBISH
-

I wish he would do it more. If he just got his handballing right and forgot about kicking the bladder out of it, he could be a terrific link man Daniel Cross style instead of a honest hard-working hacker that wouldn't be in a top 8 team's best 22.
-
how did you guys rate jake kings game today..to me it was typical jake..hard as nails but just lacking polish..i would think for this season at least theres a spot for him. However Hislop who plays a similar game to jakes i doubt

what i worry about more than anything is whether we as a club are strong enough to weather a season of similar floggings....will we see this through or will ,by midseason the natives become restless again

-
The club has no expectation and the natives will be fine.
It's when we have people at the club crowing about us doing this and us doing that without any actions backing it up based in order to fire up frustrated and success starved fans that it all blows up in the clubs face.
We know the enourmity of the task ahead lets not take focus away this huge job over a few rebuilding beltings we'll be on the receiving end from. We just need to take a deep breath and let the pain subside about another 48 times which is when we'll start to really see the fruits of Damian's labour.
-
Lol feel for you Jack.
At least it was something positive at the start. Couldn't possibly put money on us on the back of King being up forward.
Agree with your bests but the rest had a dip. We turn the ball over because we're a side pull of C graders with the odd young B Graders hoping to be more. You can't ask a bunch of Grade 2's to pass VCE.
Dont agree with Connors happy to see him make 100 mistakes a game whilst having a crack and putting his body on the line before I see Simmonds hop to attempt to tap the ball to our mids or a McMahon playing.
Simmonds had 0 taps to advantage at 3qtr time. Just play Vickory and Browne.. Simmonds isn't competetive.
-
I thought they played pretty well last night in terms of intensity shame our skill level and a fair few ordinary players are still in our ranks.
Very excited about Cotch, Lids and Martin.
-
The intensity was ordinary .
43 tackles in a game isnt good.
Intensity is about attack on the ball and the opponent.
Martin , Thomson and Cotchin had half the teams clearances, thats says enough about the teams intensity.
What were the other players doing ?? Watching
-
if each player makes 1 tackle per quarter thats 88 tackles a game. now i dont know how many tackles the good teams make but I would of thought making 3 or 4 tackles a game would be an easy target to reach.
-
60-80 tackles a game is where it should be at.
Port had 87 on the weekend.
Hardwick as tough a player as he was, needs to look at the defensive side of the team.
Not just put players in defensive zones and everyone behind the ball.
Otherwise, we wont win a game this year

geez you are FOS! ;D
intensity was clearly there for large parts, 43 tackles doesn't look good but thats bc boys couldn't stick their tackles against men they were breaking them over and over again.
Bulldogs are the best clearance team in the afl and we BEAT them in this department, nothing wrong with our attack on the ball and man, it was execution & decision making
so FOS

so label a team's effort bc of 1 or 2 individual incidents, pretty pathetic generalisation

No what's pathetic is your views on footy. 43 tackles is low BUT THAT DOEST TAKE INTO ACCOUNT the huge number of broken tackles by men against boys. So you cannot sit there saying they didn't have a dip simply bc of the tackle count, they just weren't strong enough to make them stick. and hello clearances! that says enough about endeavour so please enough with your uneducated BS
-
read my previous post, we dont tackle enough.
Nahas and Tambling are shockers

Our intensity was as good as it has been in recent history! You just can't count tackles, what about running to the ball carrier to harrass or running to fill gaps? Nothing wrong with our effort last night, we would have lost by 100 plus last year in same situation and that is with Brown, Bowden, Pettifer etc in the team!
-
Sorry, you have to count tackles as a key indicator.
ALL TEAMS DO
-
Connors=ordinary. Kick of the turnovers :banghead
Disagree 100% Jack. Connors was the best thing to come out of last night's game with his run, attack on the ball, courage and effectiveness. Only made a couple of bad skill errors from a lot of possessions and showed some of his team mates up with his effort over 4 quarters. Very good game from a 21 year old kid who has only played a handful of senior games.
-
Sorry, you have to count tackles as a key indicator.
ALL TEAMS DO
Read my post again Jack. I Said that can't JUST count tackles meaning that tackles alone are not a true indicator of intensity! Connors diving head first to tap the ball on would not appear on the tackle count nor would the fact that after he broke his ribs he went in for a second effort! Stats don't count for everything only when you trying to prove a falsehood!
-
I agree with Tony M. 43 tackles is low but due to our players size against bigger bodies we probably laid somewhere between the 60-80 accepatable mark. That means that a minimum of 17 tackles our boys laid last night did not stick and the Bulldogs broke through them. Some of the boys just need to get stronger in the upper body to ensure the tackles do actually stick.
43 tackles is low
so was our final score of 7 6 48
Yes Jack you are right both these stats won't win you many games but it is not a reflection of the kids attitude and committment last night. Thing will improve gradually over time we all know that. To expect results immediately is ludicrous.
I actually thought the Dogs were not that impressive last night despite the scoreboard and have moved back a rung since their barnstorming pre season.
-

I agree Tucker. I also love the way not one scribe has attributed any of the errors and deficiencies in the Bulldogs game to the pressure our players put them under. There were 2 sides playing and the Doggies didn't have it all their own way as the scoreboard (and post-match media booze-up summarising) might suggest.

Why would anyone in the media do their job and actually report on the game. ::)
To the uneducated footy fan all they see is a one sided score and the media is more than happy to report on that despite the fact there were many positives to come out of the game for Richmond. Does anyone in the media actually watch the game in close detail? :lol :rollin :lol
I was watching the Fox Sports News last night and the commentator reporting on the game said the Dogs were back to their brilliant best. If that's their best then the Dogs are bowing out in another prelim at best.
-
LOL jack ..why put yourself through the ringer here for this?
Am confident the match ups( that I know ) will work :thumbsup :shh.
You will see something a bit different this week
What exactly different were we suposed to be seeing, what was it that made you so confident, what were the match ups that WILL work.
I am not putting you down I am just wondering what it was that had you stick your neck out like this. ??

Could not agree more- the turnover king. Cannot kick to save himself- MUST be replaced by someone who can use the ball better than him, so anyone else on the list basically. Geez, love his endeavours and hardness but we are going nowhere when he has the ball in his hands
-
our turnover merchants should be told to kick it to the opposition, told to aim there kicks at the opposition, that will inevitably mean that one of our blokes will end up with the footy ;D
-

I heard that theory being told to John Manton by a frustrated fan many years ago out at Waverley when we were playing Fitzroy.
Manton was advised to aim for a Fitzroy player and he's hit a Richmond player on the chest after he'd turn over the ball countless times that day. :lol :rollin :lol
