Staggered
For this game we desparetly need someone in the F50 who is big bodied, fierce at the contest, will give 2nd and 3rd efforts and more than anything can tackle up free up Jack and Caddy
So where's Townsend?
Granted we will know more tomorrow night but right now disapoointed with that side :-\

Would've thought Townsend would be there as another hard body against the Cats [edit: beat me to it, WP].
The rest not unexpected. Dusty and Rioli are definites (touchwood no injuries before Sunday). Garthwaite and Soldo as back ups for Astbury and Nank. I would have Graham in for Higgins.

Agree. I would’ve like to see Townsend back. How Macintosh & Butler is still in the team is beyond me.
Conca and Brandon Ellis :chuck

Prestia and Houli will force the last two out when they come back in the second half of the year.
Butler could still be dropped tomorrow when the team is finalised but I'd doubt it as I think Dimma wants to see how the "3 amigos" go together up forward for the first time this year.
-
He was well beaten against Port but I think it's rough that Miles got dropped off one game. Higgins, Butler and McIntosh were equally average. Conca and B. Ellis didn't set the world on fire either. I can understand Caddy and Lambert have sufficient runs on the board to have one 'off game' but I think it's harsh on Miles.
Anyway I guess it's back to scoring 40+ possessions in the VFL to try and get in the team before Sept.
-
People forget how poor Towner was playing before he was dropped.

Lambert has had more than one bad game now. He has not touched it for 3 weeks now. Should be in front of a few for a rest. Must be sore

I agree but I would still like to see him back in, see if he can find some form in the 1s. Having seen him play in the magoo's it appears as if they give him a slightly different role and are more inclined to let him run through the midfield, which helps him find his feet a bit when he goes quiet. Not the case with the seniors.
-
Butler won't be dropped. He is number one in the league for forward half pressure.
That's his job. He's doing it and won't be dropped. From Hardwick.
-

Hes done his penance. Some forget that too.

Showing good VFL form right now
-
Might work for him at VFL level but unfortunately Townsend's not a midfielder's a-hole at AFL level.... :shh
-
Would really like to see the stats which back up butler being no.1 in the afl for fwd half pressure this season because apart from the bombers game and maybe a couple more I haven’t seen anything like what he was producing in that department last season.
-
Towner played one good game in vfl.Conca ,Ellis and Higgins and Macca lucky.2 should come out tomorrow.

Agree. Performance against Williamstown shows that.
-
He was good but the Dioc has a point. He isn't a midfielder at the top level. We needed him in the middle in the VFL last week due to Milesy playing in the seniors.

Finalised changes:

In: Martin, Rioli, Graham.

Higgins 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤨

Snags is extremely lucky....he & a couple of others should've been dropped befire Moore.... :shh
...will be interesting to see how we go with 4 amigos.... :shh :shh
-
Richmond’s four emergencies for Sunday’s clash with the Cats are Callum Moore, Corey Ellis, Ivan Soldo, and Ryan Garthwaite.

Probably - but will one play the Menadue role? Will they rotate? Or move others around?

Higgins and Georgie to have rotating spurts in the middle you would think with the ball spending more time at ground level in the wet.
I'd still would like Townsend in the side as a hard body to crash packs up forward in the wet but alas. Caddy will need to be the 2nd forward.
Graham to Selwood
Lambert to Ablett
Cotch to Dangerfield when in the middle.
Leave Dusty to do his thing.
Big game needed from Nank. Geelong's rucks are susceptible. The Cats would see Stanley breaking even as a win.
Wet weather K.I.S.S. principle applies on Sunday. All about winning contests, gaining territory (no fancy globetrotter handball crap) and making the most of our chances inside F50 on the scoreboard.
-
Probably - but will one play the Menadue role?
Gee you'd hope not.
Can't afford to have blokes going where the ball aint :rollin
Seriously, think there are a couple of lucky guys still in the team
The outs are spot on IMHO
Miles was only going to stay if Dusty missed again
The other 2 were very very poor
-
If it’s raining heavy I think it would’ve been smarter to keep Miles in the team.
Drop one of either turnover king Conca or that scaredy cat BEllis.
I would’ve brought in Townsend for extra grunt.
Good to see Dusty back and Rioli get a game because of his name. :lol

Townsend in for Higgins would be the way I would have gone.
Townsend could be given a job on their most effective defender but he also gives us more of a target in the air over Higgins.
With only Jack as a KPF and Caddy helping out, Townsend is important imo as a bigger, stronger body.
Our forwardline is small enough with George, Rioli and Butler. Did we really need to go in with Higgins as well, who has been out of form for a while, over Townsend??

Agree with this BT. Townsend has been in very good form and gives us another target whilst being aggressive and bringing ball to ground. Not sure Higgins is ready for the big time just yet.
-
Hardwick said they will be playing Higgins more as a mid rather than a forward.

Makes sense. Towner might still be a late in to add an extra hard bigger body in the wet conditions tomorrow.

Not a bad replacement at all
Enjoy your taste young man, big game big stage

Townsend not named to play VFL today so he is the emergency. I would play him with today's conditions.
