Mark Robinson in his usual 1-2pm segment with Daniel Hartford on SEN...
* Robbo said it's time to ask if Richmond are as bad as Fitzroy in 1996. They won't win a game this season and what was Benny Gale thinking with the 3 flags in 10 years. Hartford mucked it up saying it was 3 finals in 10 years and Robbo couldn't remember what was what.
* Robbo said we're talking years .... YEARS ..... behind the best teams in physical preparation to play the game at its highest level. Not bagging Richmond but it's just a fact.
* A caller rang up saying it's crap to compare us to Fitzroy because the reason they disbanded was because they had no supporters whereas Richmond has 40k members. He's sick of the non-stop snide remarks about Richmond from commentators on all 5 radio stations such as Anthony Hudson saying yesterday before the game why would you bother turning up if you're a Richmond supporter. Robbo agreed that was ordinary from Huddo.
The caller said we're a young side with 7 or 8 guys who have played less than 20 games. What did people expect! Hartford replied that's a reason why Richmond won't win a game. Caller said we'll win one this year. Robbo said name who we'll beat? Caller replied West Coast in round 12 and we're a chance against Essendon, Hawthorn and Adelaide this week.
* The whip is coming for Richmond. It hasn't yet because people are making excuses but it's coming. They are years away. Anyway that's Richmond's problem.
-
The whip is coming? It's been here for years Robbo.
What the hell did the media expect from Dimma this year? Finals? :wallywink
-
that fat piece of .poo can go get stuffed
40k plus members says a lot doesn't it u loser. Can someone tell me how many Fitzroy had in its last year????
He is a loser that prick in fact SEN is littered with them

To at least have a game plan and after the first 6 rounds , there isnt one.
To at least by competitve and have a dip, and that hasnt happened averaging 8 goals agame which is pathetic

have said this as im sure many have said it before.
NO MEMBERS=NO RICHMOND
and before many say well that goes for every club well its not true. Any other club other than the big 4 would be dead and almost buried right now.
The RFC has survived solely on the members willingness to accept crap week after week after week showing no fight or heart like it did on Saturday.
-
Fair dinkum what a load of crap. i was there on Sunday with a few hundred others and i am starting to understand where we are at and what Dimma is trying to do.
the Fitzroy thing is simply ridiculous. They had no ground, no members, no cash and no hope. Having said that, it is a tragedy that the AFL let them go. It wouldnt happen now.
And we have been a lot worse off than we are now. There's some good stuff happening.

I was there as well and seen NO HEART, NO PLAYERS prepared to have a dip.
(exception being Tuck who Hardwick didnt want to play REMEMBER :banghead)
And the team work was shocking. What about when McGaune got run down from behind :banghead
Yep, Dimma is doing a fantastic job.
And lets do forget the continual kick ins to contests ::) ::) ::)

theres nothing we can do now jack. we have to ride it out and back our club to t he hilt. in the past there were times where i thought taking the pee out of the club was only a joke - as well as taking the odd pot shot fron the cheap seats- i admit that, but nows not the time for either taking the pee or taking cheap shots, lots of mistakes were made in the past but right now we need loyalty and unison and not the stuff your dishing out lately, i have to say i agree with alot youve said but what your doing now isnt helping the club. just my opinion thats all and yes I know im just a supporter and members whose voice doesnt count, but I reckon loyalty and commitement from all of us can help our club move forward not criticising everything even if most of the criticisms have some validity!

Jack...if DH has no game plan...would you prefer Wallace and his game plan instead...or Jade Rawling's one?
-
Hardwick has a game plan, it's just not getting implemented at this stage. When you are getting flogged, the game plan is not going to be obvious simply because it's not being implemented by the blokes on the park.
-

Probably Wayne "superstar midfield coach" Campbell's
Says it all really
-
This really makes my blood boil.
Was St Kilda the new "Fitzroy" when they won only 11 games in 2000/01/02 ?
Was Fremantle the new "Fitzroy" when they lost the first 16 games of 2001 ?
Was Carlton the new "Fitzroy" when they finished 16th,15th,11th,16th,16th and 15th in consecutive years ?
Was Hawthorn the new "Fitzroy" when they won only 27% of their games in 2004/05/06 ?
The media makes me want to :chuck
-
Jack...if DH has no game plan...would you prefer Wallace and his game plan instead...or Jade Rawling's one?
Would of thought that if either Rawlings or Wallace coached us on Sunday.
We would of got beat by 10 goals.
Reason, we didnt have one spare player back at any time.
Wallace and Rawlings would of had one spare player or even two in D 50 at all times
Hardwick didnt so we got smashed.
My thoughts on Sunday it that it was a training drill for Geelong.
Richmond WERE NOT strategic at all.
-
I have mentioned it before on some other threads and I know coming from Robbo we want to flog the mongrel but what he is trying to say is
Statistically on field we are the equivalent of Fitzroy of 1996.
They finished the season 1-21 with a % of about 50.
Realistically we may not have a win or we may win one and our % may improve from the 49.1 it is currently sitting on.
For the record great post Ramps earlier on. :thumbsup

To be fair, we are running at 49% and the only club who has finsihed a season with a % like that is Fitzroy in 95 (50 something) and 96 (49).
Even when the teams above were terrible, most would have been above 70%.
What they are getting at is we are not even competitive for a quarter of a game.
-
my take on why dimma didnt flood on the wekend is that maybe he's trying to teach these kids how to play positions and man on man ..thus the blow out we got
-
Robbo needs hot grease thrown on him, and a good kicking. He is a Left handed rock chucker.

Jack we havent been strategic all year...DH and the assistant coaches are just working on different things with the players...
Take Rd 1 for example...we went in quite short...and pretty much conceded the hit outs to the blues...
Our run and spread wasnt too good against the bulldogs but was better the next few weeks...(aside from last weekend)...
We are trying to zone up when the opposition is in their defensive 50 making it hard for them to get the ball out...
They are trying players in many diff possies...I went to Melb and Tigers and saw Tambling play 1 qtr in fwd line, 1 qtr in mid and 1 qtr in backline...and they did that again on the weekend with some other players...farmer up fwd rance up fwd...etc...
At least DH is giving all the new recruits a go to see who can play and who cant....
Fitness and strategy will come later no doubt....

good post but i ask you this Con. Can playing these guys in all different positions really undermine their development. I think yes.
I mean we have about 12 players who dont have one set position and thats a joke really.
I also dont agree with your comment strategy will come later. Why should it??
Strategy IMO involves Tackling and Shepherding. I havent seen anything in the first 6 games from the senior guys to suggest this areas has changed. If we cant get this right we wont win a game this year or next,

throwing players behind the ball does NOTHING about teaching a defender to be accountable. Do you know anything at all about football, that simply masks the cracks...when in learning mode it's man on man...that is more telling than an 8 man defence

Mate, I know more about football in my little finger that you will never know.
The coaches already know who can play, they aint that dumb.
Was an ideal opportunity on the weekend to play an extra back as Geelong always keep structure .
FACT

rubbish you have already demonstated you know stuff all, the coaches do not know the capabilities of this side YET...man on man is a proven teaching method, used successfully by st.kilda in their fledgling years under Grant thomas

So your strategy is to simply minimise the losing score?
I have absolutely no problem with Hardwick making his young players take the on the cats at their merits.
Of course they are going to get smashed, but it shows them the level they need to get to to be the best, they also see first hand what works when they do things properly against the best in the business.
I swear you just make things up to have a go at the club

I have the same feeling! Sheedy had 25 years to come back to Richmond. He never did- so Im over it. Lets all get in and support Hardwick and Leppitsch and Campbell and co. Maybe with time they can turn it around!
-
In all of this, we should be playing on it to get Fitzroy fans on our side. They are currently in court with the Brisbane Lions over their logo and Brisbane are playing some dirty tricks trying to price them out of a legal challenge.
We should acknowledge that Fitzroy were a great old club who went through a tough time, and ensure our fans that we won't be going that way. Make a change/NAB cup strip (we'll hardly wear it) with something like white with a black sash and yellow prowling tiger motif on the front. Instantly plus a few thousand members.

The scary thing is you are serious. You have bagged our current and past coaches for not putting players in front of the ball and now you want to flood the backline.
There is a strong case to argue that Hardwick is taking the longest strategic plan of all by playing our cubs one on one to make them learn how to play football. Your idea of strategy is a damage control and Hardwicks is to force the cubs to sink or swim.

Hold on a tick, To play ONE player back on the weekend woud of been ideal.
The extra player back could of been used as the release player on the rebound , as Geelong played 3 talls inside F 50 :banghead, all three are hardly big on chasing ::)
Pointless discussing this any further with Morons

Melbourne 2008 - Bailey's first year as coach.
R1 vs Haw L 104
R2 vs Dogs L 95
R3 vs Geel L 30
R4 vs North L 48
R5 vs Carl L 33
R6 vs Bris L 52
% after 6 rounds = 54.3
Every game was over by half-time with the Dees 6 goals down minimum.
It was round 7 that the Dees got their first win and that was coming back from 50 points down at half-time against Freo (just 1 win themselves) at the MCG.
R8 vs Adel L 76
R9 vs Haw L 19 ...... first game that they were competitive for the whole 4 quarters.
R10 vs St K L 79
R11 vs Coll L 21
R12 vs Rich L 22
R13 vs Syd L 40
R14 vs Bris W 1 @ the MCG
R15 vs Dogs L 31
R16 vs Freo L 46 ...... similar to our Freo game at Subi as they kicked the first 5 goals also.
R17 vs North L 28
R18 vs Ess L 16
R19 vs Geel L 116 ..... once again just like us.
R20 vs WCE W 34 @ the MCG (Eagles finished 2nd bottom with just 4 wins)
R21 vs Port L 78
R22 vs Rich L 80
3 wins 19 losses and a final % of 62.6.
Let's wait until the end of the season before we join the media in calling ourselves the new Fitzroy :sleep.

Like your posting I think as a coach you would be way too negative and take the easy route. I think that is why you want hardwick gone because he is doing things the hard way for the greater gain at the end of the day

What do you want the club to do Jackstar? Sack the coach after half a dozen games?

There is no game plan. Eg Do we kick or handball as first option ? who knows, the players certainly dont
We kick in to contests at kick ins.
We dont tackle
We dont shepperd
We dont block for each other
There is no talk on the ground which was evident in regards to the Mcgaune tackle.
Honestly Sundays game was joke
The are off field issues as we seen with Connors after the players pledged to the coach a month earlier
There are other issues as well
What if , Hardwick isnt the right man for the job,? what happen then
ANSWER ME THAT !
Anyway, pointless me even going in any further

40k plus members says a lot doesn't it u loser. Can someone tell me how many Fitzroy had in its last year????

do we not have more members han essendon this year?
Richmond has alot more members than most the teams in the AFL.

What do you want the club to do Jackstar? Sack the coach after half a dozen games?
I would like to point out that I was the first one to demand Hardwicks resignation after I think 3 days as per standard richmond football fan practice over the last umpteen years. And even if Hardwick wins 10 premierships I will still have ht honor of being the first to totally unreasonably demand his sacking without any good cause what so ever. So suck on it fellas I was there first!!!!
;P

Your right Jack there are none of these but why?
1 simple word - Confidence.
Look at Hawthorn and Adelaide. Exactly the same. Lost confidence and all of a sudden 2 top 6 sides have fallen into death valley. You cant expect any of those things without confidence. They have 3 times the better list than we do.
Can't blame anyone. Simple fact is our cattle is weak and until it improves our confidence of our herd wont be consistent and we will lose games.

We kick in to contests at kick ins.
We dont tackle
We dont shepperd
We dont block for each other
There is no talk on the ground which was evident in regards to the Mcgaune tackle.
Honestly Sundays game was joke
The are off field issues as we seen with Connors after the players pledged to the coach a month earlier
There are other issues as well
What if , Hardwick isnt the right man for the job,? what happen then
ANSWER ME THAT !
Anyway, pointless me even going in any further
Your right Jack there are none of these but why?
1 simple word - Confidence.
Look at Hawthorn and Adelaide. Exactly the same. Lost confidence and all of a sudden 2 top 6 sides have fallen into death valley. You cant expect any of those things without confidence. They have 3 times the better list than we do.
Can't blame anyone. Simple fact is our cattle is weak and until it improves our confidence of our herd wont be consistent and we will lose games.
Isn't it funny though, the AFL are more worried about us.. sheesh.

Goughy has us now even worse than Fitzroy ::)
Tigers at 55-year low

It's official - Richmond is the worst team in the AFL to this stage of the season in the modern era.
That's right, worse than even Fitzroy in its dying days in the mid-1990s and worse than the dreadful St Kilda teams of the mid-1980s that collected four consecutive wooden spoons from 1983-86.
In fact you have to go all the way back to 1955 - the year before television was introduced in Australia - to find the last time a team had a worse record than the Tigers up to Round 7 of a season. And that was St Kilda, which had lost its first seven games and had a percentage of 44.9 after seven rounds.

What a load of crap, the game has evolved to the point that comparisons between modern day football clubs and that of the Fitzroy era are hardly if at all comparable. Just another day in the cheap shot RFC room for the media. How can they compare one season upt to round seven??? The Hawks and Crows have only won one game each, has anyone looked at the Hawks, has any other team that wone the GF two years ago bottomed out as much as they have since winning it???
Crap, just more media crap and media personnel trying to justify their employment.

Put yeterdays team against that of Fitzroys last team and we would slaughter them, they could not keep up, the game is 10 times faster these days, they wouldn't have a chance. Where is the fact Jack, don't give me stats, waste of time!! Look at the youth on our team, how old were the Roy boys players???? Compare the Roys average age of players against that of teams in their era, were they the youngest team in the AFL then, I doubt it (unsure though), but we are. We are also playing against soem of the best teams that have ever played AFL and we have done so through the Lions and Cats reign.
-
Pointless even discussing it with you.
No stats.
The team with the HEART would win.
Not only havent we a HEART, aint got a spine either.
-
I will say this Fitzroy had no heart at the end. Was ripped apart by the then AFL. Last 10 weeks or so of their existence is testament to that. Every week was a guaranteed 10 goal loss. Even we beat them in rd 21 by 151 points. Of course anyone in Fitzroy's predicament would struggle to get up week in and out.
Richmond on the other hand is rebuilding from nearly scratch. Big difference. Big upside for Richmond although statistically in terms of win loss we will be similar to Fitzroy in 1996.

No point trying to compare cause no-one can

Visions of Fitzroy '64 for Hardwick's Tigers
Sam Edmund
Herald Sun
May 27, 2010
THE consensus in the footy world is thus: They'll win one somewhere. But will they?
Richmond is rated a $4.50 chance to go through the season without a win, a feat last "achieved" by Fitzroy in 1964.
The Tigers sit 0-9 and have been close in only one of those losses - the three-point defeat by Hawthorn in Round 8.
Damien Hardwick's team has copped beltings of 56, 72, 55, 55, 108 and 50 points.
The Tigers play Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium and St Kilda at Etihad Stadium in the next two weeks but Richmond supporters are now pinning their hopes on the Round 12 game against West Coast at the MCG as the club's opportunity to break through.
North Melbourne (Round 16) and Adelaide (Round 18) at the MCG have been identified as other winnable games.
"This is certainly as short as it's ever been for a side to go through winless at this stage of the season," Sportingbet Australia chief executive Michael Sullivan said yesterday.
"You really struggle to see where a win is going to come for them."
The market on a winless Richmond season started after Round 3 and has attracted significant interest.
The Tigers' brave performance against the Hawks led to the odds drifting to $5, but last week's disappointing 45-point defeat against Essendon brought them back to $4.50.
"Going through it, there's not many games you think they can win," Sullivan said.
"It's not often, in rugby league, AFL or whatever, but I can't think of any side that's ever gone through without winning a game.
"We were thinking of a side as bad and we go back to Fitzroy, but we looked at it and really we couldn't come up with any other team."
The Tigers have won just eight of 36 quarters.

Another pathetic attempt by a Jurno to justify their position within the media crazy attention seeking world of gutter reporting!!!!!! Congratulations you have succeeded, your peers will be happy... >:(
-
Get a life, this is sooooo yesterday's article. Can't come up with a subject of your own Sam? And while we are at it, if you're going to be a journalist then work on getting your facts right before they go to print - we lost by 35 points on Saturday, not 45.

Not just Robbo but a number of footy journos (hello Hutchy ::) ) whose words have come back to bite them stupidly comparing us to Fitzroy :wallywink
