If we finish last- irrespective of what concessions Gold Coast has- Do we have the ability to come to an arrangement with an out of contract player and get him "Guaranteed" in the PSD if we have first pick. Im not quite sure how the Gold Coasts concessions impact us!

As far as I am aware the GC17 have first crack at any un-contracted player in the league, if a player wants to leave their team and come to the RFC but the GC17 want him as well he either goes to the GC17, nominates for the PSD or stays where he is.

Here's some info on your queries Ramps.
Gold Coast have the concessions.
As you can see the PSD picks are a bit over the top i think.
The ability to sign one uncontracted player from each of the 16 AFL clubs.
Zoned access to five queensland players prior to the AFL draft.
The first pick in every round plus additional first round picks 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 15 of the AFL draft.
The first 10 selections in the Pre-Season Draft.
The first 5 selections of the Rookie Draft.
An expanded list of 57 players.

Can someone confirm if the Gold Coast are involved in the PSD or not this year?
I was of the thought that because the Suns can sign up to one uncontracted player per existing club as well as pre-list 10 players from state leagues such as Krak, that they didn't have a pick in the PSD. However the journos in the media seem to contradict each other and I haven't seen anywhere from the AFL confirming whether the Sun do or don't. When the AFL released GC's draft rules it stated nothing about the PSD.

“Well, the Gold Coast’s got the first pick [in the pre-season draft], so if we don’t get there, he might be going to the other side of the country,” Ratten said
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/103450/default.aspx
I thought GC weren't in this year's PSD but according to Ratten we'll have 3rd pick behind GC and the Eagles :-\.

We should get Gamble! IMOP he is a very talanted footballer and if we could get him in the ND for say pick 60odd he could be the pick of the draft.
Always like the way he went about it....

JOHN Anthony has quit Collingwood. The 22-year-old will nominate for next month's pre-season draft in search of greater opportunity at AFL level after a frustrating year with the premier.

Rather Houli than Anthony.
Anthony or Miller, hm, maybe Anthony by a nose.

Pre-season Duds.

Except that Miller can play forward or back and he has been brought on as part of the development process as well. Anthony is just an average forward who can kick straight.

i concur...fwiw though, miller is to do some bullocking work in the front half to make way for JR, not sure that JA could play same role

I'm pretty sure he couldn't, big no from me thanks

Would prefer Miller over Anthony easily, Anthony strikes me as more of a show pony than a real dedicated footballer.

Maybe, but he was very very important to Melbourne last season. Be interesting to see how their much vaunted "better than ours" midfield handles the loss of both Bruce and McDonald.

FORMER Essendon midfielder Bachar Houli is training at Richmond and the Tigers are certain to select him in the pre-season draft.
He was de-listed by Essendon last Wednesday and is one of six delisted AFL players who have nominated for the pre-season draft, and not Thursday's national draft.
Hawthorn is expected to select former Demon Cameron Bruce while former teammate Brad Miller will go to Richmond as a rookie.
One-time Collingwood utility John Anthony hopes to go to Fremantle, but another club could swoop earlier.
Delisted Western Bulldogs forward Mitch Hahn and Hawthorn ruckman Simon Taylor have skipped the national draft, indicating they have significant interest from at least one club.
Such players usually nominate for the national draft, hoping to be taken with a late selection.

Travis Johnstone to the Bombers??? ROFLMAOO :rollin They are truly deluded. He would fix their midfield woes......for about 10 minutes a fortnight. This guy goes missing more often than Tony Bullimore!

Tony Bullimore was found eventually.
I would think Travis Johnstone is more of a Harold Holt. You can speculate all you like but the fact is he is missing.
By the way I think John Anthony would struggle at our club.

I think you'll find that Bradley and Gleeson were trannys, Bruce was the 1st to actually have female genetalia.

Deadline looms for Bruce, Anthony and Houli
By Jennifer Witham
Mon 29 Nov, 2010
CAMERON Bruce, John Anthony and Bachar Houli have until 2pm on Tuesday to officially nominate for next week's NAB AFL Pre-season Draft.
All three are thought to have secured new homes with Hawthorn, Fremantle and Richmond respectively, but are yet to lodge paperwork with the AFL indicating their desire to enter the draft.
The trio walked out on their clubs last month.
Bruce left Melbourne after failing to secure a two-year deal, Anthony left Collingwood owing to a lack of opportunities and Houli left Essendon after a frustrating season spent largely in the VFL.
They have all commenced pre-season training with the clubs they are believed to be heading to.
Delisted Bulldog Mitch Hahn, who has been offered the chance to continue his career as a mature-aged rookie at Whitten Oval, is also yet to nominate.
Hahn was last week weighing up whether to accept the Dogs' offer or pursue a full-time coaching role.
Meanwhile, discarded Hawthorn ruckman Simon Taylor hopes to be thrown an AFL lifeline after nominating for the pre-season and NAB AFL Rookie Drafts.
The 28-yeear-old, who chose not to nominate for the recent NAB AFL Draft where just three former AFL-listed players - Ryan Gamble, Matt Spangher and Dean Polo - found new homes, is one of seven players to put their hand up for next week's intake.
Scott Harding, Nathan O'Keefe, Albert Proud, Tony Notte, Bart McCulloch and Tom Hislop are other delisted players who have also nominated.
Proud is training with the Brisbane Lions and Hislop is at Richmond.
If a player has nominated for the national draft, they remain eligible for selection in either of the December drafts.
This means players such as Travis Johnstone, Jay Neagle, Ed Barlow, Travis Tuck and Paul Johnson could still find new homes either as mature-aged rookies or on the primary list for the clubs with pre-season selections.
Neagle has continued training with Essendon but has strict fitness conditions he must meet to be rookied while Barlow is at the Bulldogs, Tuck is at Hawthorn and Johnson at Melbourne.

Bart McCulloch? Isn't he that ruckman we were going to draft with our last pick a few years back but the Lions grabbed him just before us? Forced us to pass and subsequently pick Cuzzy in the PSD.
I must remind myself to send Vossy a christmas ham.
-
Spot on Gerks. He's the one.
Ed Barlow's name always reminds me of a Menswear store. I heard he can be a bit "slack" at training with other player running the "pants" off him. But don't bet on him being selected as you could lose your "shirt" :P

Hislop has nominated for the pre-season draft?? Does he need to do this to be rookied or is he not as loyal or confident to be picked up by us as we have come to believe?
-

You cannot nominate for the rookie draft only Stripes
In this case you nominate for the PSD and if you are not selected in that you automatically become available to be drafted via the rookie draft
He will be rookie listed by RFC IMHO
-
I wouldn't rule out GWSheeds taking him before us :pray

Would be handy if old Sheeds took him off our hands.

He approached Laycock and is sniffing at Neagle so it won't surprise me if he does.
Had hopes Hislop would become a good hard player for us, but I can find uses for breasts on a mallee so...

Suns get pre-season draft start
By Jennifer Witham
5:43 PM Wed 01 Dec, 2010
SIX CLUBS will take part in next Tuesday's NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft with Gold Coast holding the first pick.
The Suns have hinted they will target an experienced player with that selection given the number of youngsters they recruited in last month's national draft.
West Coast will follow at No.2 while Richmond is expected to select former Essendon midfielder Bachar Houli, who has been training with the club for a month, at No.3.
Essendon is poised to continue its youth approach at No.4, and could gain another ruckman. Chris Molitor, Jonathan Giles and Josh Jenkins have been training with the Bombers.
Hawthorn is likely to use pick No.5 on former Demon Cameron Bruce, while Fremantle is committed to taking former Collingwood forward John Anthony at No.6.

Ablett is poo. Wouldn't get a kick in a bottom 8 side
-
Nathan Ablett is a hack, the fact he has a premiership medal instead of his dad is an absolute disgrace
Would pick a mild case of ebola over Nathan Ablett
-
Look what you've done TTID. Maybe you had better catch the next flight to Hollywood! ;D
I agree with the masses. Nathan Ablett is a complete dud and soft as. He was made to look good by the supreme delivery of Bartel & Co.
Mentally he's only one step away from appearing on the Dr Phil show.
For all the accountants here, his assets column is empty and his liability column is choc o block with red pen.
