Pre-Season Draft

If we finish last- irrespective of what concessions Gold Coast has- Do we have the ability to come to an arrangement with an out of contract player and get him "Guaranteed" in the PSD if we have first pick. Im not quite sure how the Gold Coasts concessions impact us!

As far as I am aware the GC17 have first crack at any un-contracted player in the league, if a player wants to leave their team and come to the RFC but the GC17 want him as well he either goes to the GC17, nominates for the PSD or stays where he is.

Here's some info on your queries Ramps.
Gold Coast have the concessions.
As you can see the PSD picks are a bit over the top i think.

The ability to sign one uncontracted player from each of the 16 AFL clubs.

Zoned access to five queensland players prior to the AFL draft.

The first pick in every round plus additional first round picks 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and 15 of the AFL draft.

The first 10 selections in the Pre-Season Draft.

The first 5 selections of the Rookie Draft.

An expanded list of 57 players.

Pre-Season Draft

Can someone confirm if the Gold Coast are involved in the PSD or not this year?

I was of the thought that because the Suns can sign up to one uncontracted player per existing club as well as pre-list 10 players from state leagues such as Krak, that they didn't have a pick in the PSD. However the journos in the media seem to contradict each other and I haven't seen anywhere from the AFL confirming whether the Sun do or don't. When the AFL released GC's draft rules it stated  nothing about the PSD.

“Well, the Gold Coast’s got the first pick [in the pre-season draft], so if we don’t get there, he might be going to the other side of the country,” Ratten said

I thought GC weren't in this year's PSD but according to Ratten we'll have 3rd pick behind GC and the Eagles  :-\.

We should get Gamble! IMOP he is a very talanted footballer and if we could get him in the ND for say pick 60odd he could be the pick of the draft.
Always like the way he went about it....

John Anthony quits Collingwood and will enter the PSD (Herald-Sun)
« Reply #8 on: November 06, 2010, 12:13:06 AM »
JOHN Anthony has quit Collingwood. The 22-year-old will nominate for next month's pre-season draft in search of greater opportunity at AFL level after a frustrating year with the premier.

Rather Houli than Anthony.

Anthony or Miller, hm, maybe Anthony by a nose.

Except that Miller can play forward or back and he has been brought on as part of the development process as well.  Anthony is just an average forward who can kick straight.

i concur...fwiw though, miller is to do some bullocking work in the front half to make way for JR, not sure that JA could play same role

Would prefer Miller over Anthony easily, Anthony strikes me as more of a show pony than a real dedicated footballer.
