Polly.......... playing week after a concussion
Thommo......not on injury list and still not playing
Taylor.........not the flavour of the month at the club right now

12/10 rule this week as well?

Hopefully Postie has a good game coming back from suspension.

Taylor.........not the flavour of the month at the club right now
Polly didn't play last weekend against Port Melbourne. He was knocked out the week before against Werribee.

Thomson is injured I believe. No loss as he's unlikely to survive the cut at the end of the year anyway.

Taylor's coming back from a medial ligament injury that put him out for 5 or so weeks.

Polak back in the fray

  * By Sam Landsberger
  * Herald-Sun
  * Sat 10 July 2010, Page 46

RICHMOND forward Graham Polak returns in the VFL for Coburg tomorrow, 15 days after his head clash with Werribee's Mitch Thorp.

Polak, who suffered brain injuries after being hit by a tram two years ago, was concussed before he hit the ground.

Coburg coach David Newett said Polak was a certain starter against Collingwood at Victoria Park tomorrow.

"He actually wanted to play last week,'' Newett said.

"He's been fantastic. He was fine even after the collision because he knew it was just one of those things.''

Polak will continue to play without a helmet with medical experts of the opinion that headgear does not prevent concussion injuries.

Richmond ruckman Andrew Browne faces a stern test against Magpie Josh Fraser, while Paul Medhurst and Shane O'Bree continue to strive for an AFL recall.

Good match ups for a couple of the boys, imagine Polo will get Medhurst, can't see Rance on Fraser, would kill him in the air, Goo may go to CHB this week, good test for him, also big test for Browney with 4 Collingwood players 202cm or more

Puiselli marks and has a shot from way out after the siren and gets onto the kick to make the distance but not the accuracy. No score.

Quarter time

Coburg   6.0-36
C'wood   4.2-26

Coburg will be disappointed they wasted the first half of that quarter with the breeze. Took 10-12 minutes to work out how to use the breeze. Didn't get our hands on it early.

Jordie, Morgan and Rayson across HB rebounded well. Rance good touches on the wing. Power and Puiselli generated run through the lines. Post got onto the end of a couple of goals.

RFC players: Gourdis, Polo, Rance, McMahon, Contin, Browne, Hicks, Post, Polak, Morton, Gilligan. I haven't heard Grimes' name.

Rance might have copped a knock in the first quarter.

Pies got the last two goals. So they are in front now. The likes of Fraser, O'Bree and Medhurst are playing VFL.

Lawton had a shot from 45m but it didn't make the distance into the breeze.

38 - 44

Disappointing given it was a winnable game being up a goal at half-time. We really didn't make the most of our two quarters with the breeze. Wasted the first 10 minutes in the first quarter and did bugger all in the third with it.

Going by the commentary only Rance and Browne showed anything today. Browne had to ruck against Fraser and Wood and Rance worked hard in defence. Post looked lively in the first but didn't appear to have much of an impact after that. Contin got a "not too bad" from the commentators. Jordie and Polo were Jordie and Polo.

Thanks OE and WP! If ever there was a game to shine it was this one. I'll be interested to see if they play him anyway but I hope not. I would love to Gourdis get a chance otherwise, going on your report, Rance.

The In's and outs will be worth waiting for. :D

The problem for Goo and Rance is our defence is playing well so there's no room in the inn for them to come in. They're not forwards either so yeah the ins and outs this week are going to be interesting.

Disgraceful if true  :banghead :banghead

Gourdis deserves a game before Post gets another crack

Seriously - I try not to "pay out" on players I try and support them as much as possible, don't like bagging for the sake if it but.................

 :banghead :banghead :banghead

I am sick to death of watching this kid refuse to chase, show intensity at contest and simply not put any pressure on his opponent  :banghead

He stood out there today barking instructions to his team mates about picking up opponents, keeping the pressure on and then he point blank refuses to chase as blokes run off him especially when he relieved in the ruck

Here's a tip instend of telling everyone else what to do practice what you preach  :banghead :banghead

Browne was very good not only did he have to contend with Fraser and Wood but he had to seal with the man mountian from the USA McNamara

I was impressed by Contin simply because he is a really decent size. The thing that let him down today was his decion making

Agree Jordie was Jordie but I am confused by the comments about Polo. He played really well today best game for quite a few weeks. I heard someone say "he had leather poisoning today" and a former AFL player say his game excellent

Was disappointed with Hicks - just didn't get into the grove of the game at all and looked lost against the more experienced Magpie players

Was very impressed with Mitch Morton's game - best for quite sometime

As for the other listed "Bests" well in a word  :-\ :-\ To see Piuselli (a Coburg listed player) & Sam Power have been named in the best says to me that either I was watching a complete different game or the bests in part are based solely on the number of posessions not what people do with them  ::) :banghead

I went to the game and felt Polo was easily one of our best too! He looked solid across half back all game! I agree, WP, Morton was good today and BrownE was good too! I thought Postie started real well with a nice contested mark and goal but then dropped off. He seems disinterested and not to be enjoying his his footy. I noticed also that when most players were rotated off that they were all blowing hard but when Jordy was rotated off he didnt even have a sweat up! Also, when the players come off they give each other a little 'high five' but Jordy never did!? I love the fact that our Irish import wears sunscreen on a cloudy day that is lucky to reach double figures in temperature! WP, of the coburg listed players i thought Rayson and Carnell were the best!?

rance is ok as a defensive forward, and it would not hurt trying gourdis in the forward line due to his pace

I don't know where all this anti-Post vitriol comes from. He started really well, but faded,sure. But that description pretty much sums up Coburg's day in a nutshell.
Bear in mind that he was not only helping out in the ruck, but was also virtually playing a lone hand as a tall forward marking option, because Polak who was the biggest disappointment of the day, couldn't hold a mark all afternoon. But then what do I know? I'd had enough by the 15 min mark of the last qtr and went home.
I too would like to see Gourdis play for Richmond next week. Perhaps they could play him forward, or send Astbury forward to slot him in down back. Browne deserves a run too. Has done for several weeks.
Incidentally, Grimes did play, because I saw his name on the white board at the 1/4 time huddle. This isn't a put down, it's just that I follow the forwards from end to end, so I tend not to notice the work the defenders do as much.
