Yep that seems the likely in for Griffiths. Hopefully he has a good game tomorrow so he comes in with some confidence. Polly would be the only other option as a big key forward but he lacks mobility and I don't think he is part of our future. Postie and Astbury in tandem can rotate between the forward and back lines.

Cuz and Tambling in for Nason (if he has a cracked cheekbone) and one of Nahas or King. The latter two I don't see being part of our 22 going forward due to their deficiencies.

Love to see Post in, was discussing exact point after match.

Would like to see BrownE get a go and give Vickery a rest.

Cousins for Nason

Didn't see the Jacko one, but if he goes the Goo to debut ....

Out: Nason, Griffiths :-[, Graham/Vickery, Nahas
In: Tambling, Gourdis, Browne, Cousins

I'd like to rest Nason if hes ok for a week otherwise if he's injured he has to be replaced anyway.
Gourdis deserves a chance as a rookie to play a game of AFL. Astbury can play Griffo's role up forward and Gourdis can play Astbury's defensive role.

Post stiff but I'd rather Gourdis can his first chance.

Nothing much to get excited about as far as RFC players putting their hand up at Coburg. I wonder if we'll bring Browne in as 2nd ruck and push Vickery forward as a second tall marking target to replace Griffiths?

Whats wrong with Gus? I know he took a couple of heavy knocks but is anything else apart from sore?

Gourdis in for Griffiths, play Astbury forward
If Graham has broken ribs then the big Jaffa to come in
If Jackson is suspended then Cousins to take his spot

I think Nason will be ok to play
If Tambling is ok then he should replace Nahas who was rubbish

Exactly

Yep and I pleased to say he has proven me wrong although he wasn't too good on Saturday night pre going down but hopefully learnt alot against Sandilands

As I said in my rant on the Coburg thread I don't like paying out on players but Post has for mine been the biggest disappointment this season.

His lack of intensity, desire, commitment call it what ever you like means he doesn't deserve a game and if he gets one after Sunday's effort then it will an absolute disgrace

Harsh words? YEP but IMHO totally warranted

Lots of people rate him as a player - for me he is an average player only! Everyone criticises Rance, at least Rance has a fair dinkum 100% crack all the time. I'd pick Rance to stay on the list every day of the week over Post.

RICHMOND - In the Mix

Two Tigers are definitely out after the side's great win over Fremantle - Daniel Jackson has been suspended again, while young key tall Ben Griffiths' season is over due to shoulder surgery. Ben Cousins is the obvious replacement for Jackson, while key forward Jayden Post has been good for Coburg in recent weeks. David Gourdis is also putting in good performances, while Alex Rance is also showing positive signs after being BOG a couple of weeks ago.

NORTH MELBOURNE
Yet another foot injury to Drew Petrie has created an opening for Josh Smith or Aaron Edwards, who were both solid in North Ballarat’s low-scoring victory. Smith (32 possessions) has been used as a key defender in recent weeks, while David Hale (18 possessions, 38 hit-outs) has spent a good amount of time in the ruck to put pressure on struggling Hamish McIntosh. Nathan Grima (ankle) is no certainty to return, however Ben Speight and Jamie Macmillan are on the cusp of AFL debuts.

The loss of Griffiths is a big shame. We don't want to lose balance in the team. Would try out Gourdis and play Astbury up forward. Would bring in Cousins. Post and Morton are in the mix to be called up

Reckon North will bring in Edwards and Jones and perhaps Hale

Title: Richmond midfielder Ben Cousins gets the nod to take on Kangaroos (Australian)

Richmond midfielder Ben Cousins gets the nod to take on Kangaroos

CONTROVERSIAL Richmond midfielder Ben Cousins is certain to be recalled for Sunday's game against North Melbourne at the MCG.

Cousins, who'll replace the suspended Daniel Jackson, missed his fifth game this season in last Saturday night's win over the Dockers because of an interrupted preparation after being admitted to intensive care early last week due to an overdose of sleeping pills.

The 2005 Brownlow medallist has been back in full training for a week and, pending a clean bill of health, will play in the final seven home-and-away games where he will take his career tally of possessions to more than 6000.

In 263 matches since making his debut for West Coast in 1996, Cousins has averaged almost 23 disposals per game.

Jackson accepted a two-match suspension for engaging in rough conduct against Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne last weekend.

Richard Tambling, a late withdrawal against Fremantle, is likely to be available against the Kangaroos, but teenage centre half-forward Ben Griffiths will miss the rest of the season due to a dislocated shoulder.

Ben Nason, who was concussed and did not play in the second half against the Dockers, remains in doubt but will be assessed today.

Luke McGuane, who has missed the past two rounds with an ankle problem, will also be subjected to a fitness test. On standby for senior recalls are Graham Polak and Jayden Post.

I think Rance deserves a game in front of Tambling. Tambling has never had to fight his way into the side before. I think it would benefit Tambling to 'earn' his game for Richmond

Going on that article it sounds like the only changes will be -

Out - Griffiths, Jackson and possibly Nason

Ins - McGuane, Cousins and possibly Tambling

Watching last weeks game I think we have been too hard on Tambling this year. His role has completely changed from last year. His role is now a defensive forward who shuts down the oppositions running backmen. That has been his primary focus which is why he has go little of the pill himself to date. Nahas attempted to fill that role but equally struggled, kicking only the single on the day but appearing all at sea.

I think a players role needs to be taken into accont before we judge them for 'dropping off' or 'failing' which I don't believe is the case here. Has he been a star - no, is he fufilling his role in the team - definitely.

Hardwick said today midfielder Ben Cousins would return to face North Melbourne on Sunday after missing a week following his sleeping tablet drama.

“Ben will come straight back in, which is a good result,” the coach said.

“We look forward to having Ben back in the side ... speaking to Ben, this is one of the most exciting times he’s had in his career.

“He’s very excited for the young squad we’ve got ... he’s enjoying his footy, he’s contributing well, so I think he’s looking forward to playing again.”

But youngster Ben Nason is set to miss after coming off second best in a heavy clash of heads with teammate Jake King last week.
