Nothing about Stafford, Cogs or Hartigan?
Just repeating from the intra-club thread that all three played today.
Cogs played a half. Running wise still a bit behind the others but it was good to see him out there.
Stafford played the first half and may play in the Wiz Cup. Mainy rucked and played forward (although the footy didn't get down that end to often).
I didn't realize Hartigan was coming back from an injury so that would explain him being a bit off. He played the full game and did get into the game more in the second half.

Brown, Krakouer injured
Foxsports News
February 9, 2005
NATHAN BROWN and Andrew Krakouer are in doubt for Richmond's opening AFL Wizard Cup match against Collingwood after the Tigers' intra-club trial today.
Brown missed the trial with hamstring tightness picked up from training on the community camp in Mildura while Krakouer received a corked calf in today's hit-out at Victoria Park.
Tigers football manager Paul Armstrong said the club would not risk Brown in the February 18 Collingwood match if there was any doubt about his hamstring.
The club is hoping Krakouer will be available for the Wizard Cup match but his fitness will be monitored.

Oh dear - not good. Get well soon.
Maybe we could also add: Julz - foot. Hubby bought a trampoline for the kids for Christmas and set it up Christmas Eve. I went to check how he was going and he was trying it out. He decides to jump off it and had the whole back yard to land but no he had to place all 87kg on my right foot. Can walk on it but even now it gets tender.

It wasn't his ankle - just a knock to the top of the foot after icing it, it was fine. I've been told they took him off as a precaution
Will be OK for round 1 :thumbsup

What's the real status of Sarge's injury?
The AFL site still has him 6 weeks away same as last week; the Age 8 weeks and the H-Sun 9 weeks ???
-
He'd be struggling to get a game at his best anyway so let's just write the first half of the season off and give him a chance to fully recover.
-
Agree John with giving Sarge time to fully recover. Just if he's out for 9 weeks he won't be back into full training until the middle of the season let alone playing any games even for Coburg :-\. As much as I would want him to take as much time to get fully right, the whole year would be basically a write off for him if that happened :(.
-
He was walking pretty good the other day unassisted. I expect he will miss only a few games.

Sounds like Tambling might be a show this week although he hasn't played a competitive match for a few weeks so he might start at Coburg.
-
Browny said after the game Johnson rang him last night and he'll be out for a couple of weeks. 3aw said the scans on his foot were worse than first thought. ( 3aw just updated that to a bruised heel that will be monitored during the week).
Hartigan out with a hammy for 3 weeks. He was killing them before he went off. 11 possies in the first quarter. We lost alot of our run after he went off.
No sure about Staff's shoulder. Played out the game alright so hopefully he's fine.
-
From the Herald-Sun
Richmond also has injury worries, with young defender Brent Hartigan tearing his hamstring during the second quarter and facing several weeks on the sideline.
Hartigan was on crutches after the match.
And the Tigers could also be without captain Kane Johnson next week after he was a late withdrawal from yesterday's match.
Tigers coach Terry Wallace said Johnson had a foot injury which needed rest.
"We had him X-rayed early in the week and he was fine and we had him scanned later in the week and found there's a stress-related injury there," Wallace said.
"It's not a stress fracture, but if we kept playing him, that was the likely scenario.
"Whether that rest means one week, two week or three weeks, we'll just have to see how it responds. It's rest until he's right."
Wallace said Johnson would go for further scans on his foot later this week.

Gently, gently for Johnson
5:20:48 PM Tue 12 April, 2005
Paul Gough
Sportal for afl.com.au
Richmond coach Terry Wallace has revealed the Tigers' new skipper Kane Johnson could break down with stress fractures if he is rushed back too quickly from his injured heel.
Johnson was a late withdrawal from last Sunday's round three win over the Western Bulldogs due to a sore heel, which flared up during the previous week's win over Hawthorn.
The dual Adelaide premiership player is almost certain to miss Sunday's MCG home game against Fremantle and Wallace admitted on Tuesday he was unsure when the Tigers' premier midfielder would be ready to return.
But given the consequences of what could happen if he returns too soon, the Tigers will certainly not rush back Johnson before he is ready.
"Its not a stress fracture, it's a hot spot (in his heel)," Wallace said of Johnson's injury.
"A scan can either show if there is a crack or if it’s a hot spot, meaning its inflamed with fluid, and that is usually the first step towards a fracture occurring."
Wallace said now the Tigers realise Johnson is suffering inflammation in his heel, they have no choice but to rest him until it subsides.
"Once the hot spots goes he can continue playing but until he gets rid of that soreness we can’t take the risk because otherwise it would become a couple of months type of injury (if it becomes fractured)."
The Tigers might be on a high after two successive wins, following a club record 15 straight losses prior to that, but they are battling a mounting injury list with David Rodan (knee), Jay Schulz (ankle), Brent Hartigan (hamstring) and highly-rated draftee Richard Tambling (back) all sidelined.
Wallace said Tambling is unlikely to play again this week but denied the club was frustrated it had not been able to show off its number four draft pick - in stark contrast to Hawthorn, which has generated great excitement amongst its fans following the early form of number two pick Jarryd Roughead and number five pick Lance Franklin.
"I am not concerned about it all, it's a long journey," Wallace said of Tambling.
"They (draftees) are not trophies and we will put him on display when he is ready."
"What we have to make sure is that when he is ready to play he is definitely right because we don’t want to him to keep breaking down."
"He had a hamstring injury, then a toe problem and now it's his back so he hasn’t had any continuity (with his training) and we need him to get through two, three, four sessions in a row before we pick him."

Early rumour that Sarge will be named this week :o
:gobdrop
I know not many guys have been putting their hands up at Coburg but that's a huge call if that happens straight after being out for 6 weeks. Guaranteed to be a huge roar if he kicks the first goal. As long as he doesn't stop off on the way to the 'G at a Subway with Quiznos sub possibly coming on board ;).
-
He'll get scanned again today [15/4], just to see how that's faring and it's really until that inflammation and swelling goes down that you can't do anything with him."
http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=196465
Any heard an update on how Johnson's scan went yesterday?
Wallace also spoke about forgotten Tiger Rory Hilton, who underwent a knee reconstruction last year, but suffered a recent hamstring setback.
"It was his first ever hamstring, but it's very, very common for blokes coming back off knee reconstructions because their bodies are just not match-hardened," Wallace said.
Back luck to Rory.
-
In the members today they said Hartigan has done his hammy that bad he'll be out for 5-6 weeks instead of the usual 2-3 :(.
-
This will all be going in the first 05 OTP but:
Johnson - was to start running today with the view of playing in a fortnight.
Schulz played half a game for the Coburg reserves.
Tambo is due to play for Coburg on ANZAC day

True X. A sign of our depth especially in the midfield improving. We may be starting to get to the stage in some positions of picking blokes on form and ability rather than just form. In any case there's competition from below on places in the senior side which is great news all round. If someone especially one of our young guys is spending time on the bench in the seniors and only accruing single digit possessions then I would expect them to sent back to Coburg for a full game to keep up his match fitness.

Kelvin Moore: Unbeknown to us, suffered a broken jaw in the first quarter and continued to play on. Was fantastic. The injury has come at the wrong time for him, as his form over the past month has been outstanding.
Alex Gilmour: Started up forward and had a few runs in the midfield, before injuring his ankle early in the second half. Disappointing to lose another good, young player.

Doc Larkins
Herald-Sun
Nathan Brown
LEG: Had surgery on Saturday to insert a metal rod in major fracture of right tibia bone. Will be non-weight bearing for three to four weeks and probably wear a cam-walker for up to eight weeks. He will need extensive rehabilitation over the next six months to regain muscle strength and endurance. Has significant soft-tissue and muscle damage around the fracture and is unlikely to do any running in the first four months.
DOC SAYS: In an uncomplicated case with sound healing, no infection and no blood clots, Brown would be expected to return for pre-season in 2006. He is likely to have the metal rod removed prior to playing. Brown's rehabilitation will start with swimming in about a month, followed by the bike and eventually running.
Greg Stafford
ANKLE: "A reasonable chance to get through a fitness test this week. He's missed the past three weeks with the on-going effects of his right ankle injury but is making good progress and is close to selection."

The Tigers will also again be without boom recruit Richard Tambling for this week's clash with the Kangaroos with Wallace admitting the number four draft pick has been frustrated by his injury plagued debut season.
"He is totally frustrated as you would be," Wallace said of Tambling, who has been restricted to just four games this year because of hamstring, back and toe injuries.
"It doesn't matter whether you are 30 plus or a kid in your first season, everyone wants to be out there playing football."
However the Tigers are hoping the exciting goalsneak will return for the round 13 clash against Adelaide.

Gaspar almost certain to return
12:58:37 PM Mon 1 August, 2005
Andrew Wu
Sportal for afl.com.au
Richmond defender Darren Gaspar has been given a 95 per cent chance of returning to face Fremantle at Subiaco this Saturday but midfielder Mark Chaffey and the concussed Matthew Richardson are in more doubt.
Gaspar, who strained his hamstring against St Kilda in round 16, and Chaffey - troubled by a groin complaint - were both late withdrawals from the side that lost to Carlton on Sunday when they pulled up sore after training on Friday.
But Tigers assistant coach Brian Royal stressed the pair had not aggravated their injuries and were confident of their availability for the crucial clash with fellow finals aspirant Fremantle.
"I'd be very surprised if Gaspar didn't play next week. He'd be a 95 per cent chance to play next week and Chaffey probably a little bit less. He's a 70 per cent chance to play," Royal said on Monday morning.
Royal said the Tigers never considered allowing star forward Richardson to return to the field after he was severely concussed but he remained a chance of facing the Dockers should he pass all the regulation tests for concussed players.
"The stuff we got from the medical staff throughout the course of the game was that he was certainly concussed. I think it took him a fair bit to work out where he was initially, so when that's the course you don't hesitate about those sort of things. We're just governed by what the medical staff tell us," Royal said.
"There's a process that players have to go through and he'll be sat down and have to go through the tests that they'll be put through and that will determine whether he plays or not."
Experienced defender Andrew Kellaway will see a surgeon on Monday to see when he can resume playing after suffering a broken jaw against Essendon in round 15, but according to Royal he could be a fortnight away from playing.

What's the story/rumour with Deledio breaking his nose at training but still playing this week and that Stafford has injured his calf muscle? The Deledio story was apparently reported on Ch 10 news.
-
I usually watch ch10 sport but not 2nite, so i cant tell you for sure!
-
9 News say it was just a bloodied nose.
10 are full of sprog
-
TW’s on WLF tonight and he confirmed that Deledio broke his nose in a training drill. Once the blood was stopped he finished the training session.
The players had a boxing session after training and he joined in that as well.
TW expects Richo and Gaspar to play this week. Chaffey is 50/50.
Stafford may have a calf strain and TW’s waiting on the results of a test on that to see whether he plays this week or not.

Broken noses are overrated in a sense that players can't play with them!
-
Better re-check that. Just a suspected broken nose, at the time. But TW seemed to think it looked a bit crooked.
