Velcome
# 10 North Melbourne - Steve Verrier ( South Fremantle / 188 / 83 / 93)
Really impressed me at champs and then later in the season at Reserves and Senior level and is certainly the style of player North might like and who could add a touch of class. Just looks like a footballer to me and is probably going to be your attacking defender type who will be able to push up further into his development. Ticks a lot of boxes; composed in traffic, one touch, does the little things, gives a second effort, tackles, quick and a really good ball user and decision maker.

Welcome to Steve

Steven VERRIER (South Fremantle)
DOB: 24/6/93. Ht: 188cm. Wt: 82kg.
Pos: Medium defender.
"Steven's a half-back flanker who did the pre-season with the senior side but copped a bad injury in a pre-season game which put him out of the action for three to four months. Upon returning he went back to the Colts side and then later in the year made his senior debut. A really good runner, great character of a kid and can play either end but I reckon half back is his best spot. Kicks it well, does need to find the footy a bit more but that will come." - South Fremantle football operations manager Brent Dawkins.
Western Australia representative 2011.

Francis Jackson on Verrier:
"He's a rebounding defender who played for WA in the national under-18 carnival. He also played some senior footy for South Fremantle this year, which is a positive. He had a serious nose injury earlier in the year, and that set him back for a number of weeks, but we think he's a high-possession winner and he can play a rebounding role for us in the future."

Needs to rebound into the gym first...but welcome and good luck.
-
found his video clip to be the most impressive out of todays picks. hits the ball hard, tackles with gusto and is deceptively agile and evasive for a bloke his size.
I think it's worth a whoa
-
Like the look of this kid. Think he could be the pick of the lot.
-
I thought Darrou and O'Hanlon looked better
This kid has a bit of the Brad Helbigs about him
-
And can walk on water.............. whoa :shh :shh
-
Good luck to him
-
Was due to arrive in Melb yesterday
-
you can really sea how raw this kid is in this video.

he has something to work with though, a number of times he beats two or more opponents for the ball.
you can see how far he has to come along to make it.
-
looks good at running and turnovers ;D

-
Geez Geez thats only colts level....I thought it must have been him on senior debut or something, thought that was the explanation for him looking like a bunny in quite a few of those highlights. good luck to you steven :o

Just further proof you can't rely on youtube clips to judge these kids. The one on the RFC site shows only Verrier's best highlights and if you just used it to base your view of him you'd scratch your head wondering how he wasn't picked up in the National draft. This one al is far more realistic and shows Verrier's good and bad :-\. He looks like a kid who wants to play on at all costs which is not necessarily a bad thing in modern footy but he does it all the time even when it's vey low percentage play which is why he stuffs up half the time. Hopefully with some proper development he can become more aware of when to play on and when not to and show more control of the footy. At the moment as a junior he is playing Russian roulette football which looks great when he pulls it off but will cost plenty of goals going the other when he doesn't pull it off.

I like how you are relying on a YouTube clip to judge this kid after saying you can't :lol
-
I think MT means you can't judge guys off highlight clips. You can make any old crab look good on a highlight clip. The youtube ones show pretty much every play they're involved in for that game. Steve V is very raw but I can see why they picked him up. Will a fair chunk of the year in the 3rds though, imo
-
I know what he meant just stirring the bald bastard ;D

;D

dark horse for a spot in the tem :cheers

Nice guy. Met him at the family day last year. Had a chat. Came across as a good character. At that stage he was bantamweight.
-
it's a shame he can't kick but it's never been a problem for dan jackson so he should be able to forge a career
-
gerks i didnt pay that close attention to his kicking ..is he that bad?
-
lmao as bad as dan jackson, no probably not :lol
-
Verrier - 20 possessions, 5 inside 50s

Wouldn't mind a few cheap possessions and some inside 50s with your sig bents

I don't like to be mean towards any Richmond listed player.. however I was watching this lad have a kick with someone after the main session is his kicking was rather awful. :-X

Forgot about Spring.

His kicking has always been crap, was when we drafted him, even though we only draft good kicks lmao
-
One the flip side I was watching Mr. Dylan Grimes kicking closely, also.
