Hot Tigers, Saints set for Friday sellout

    Mark Stevens
    From: Herald Sun
    May 29, 2012

THE St Kilda-Richmond Friday night blockbuster at Etihad Stadium is destined to be a sellout, with the AFL urging fans to snap up tickets in coming days.

AFL chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan last night said: "I think it will be a sellout, but it will only be late in the piece."

As it is a Saints home game, priority will be given to the club's reserved-seat holders, meaning Tigers fans are more likely to be squeezed out in one of the most anticipated matches of the year.

The game might have attracted 60,000-plus at the MCG given Richmond's resurgence. However, McLachlan said the interest in the game was impossible to read when the fixture was formulated.

"Now we've got a cracker," McLachlan said.

"Obviously, you don't want anybody missing out, but it's also great to have a game here at Etihad with an extraordinary atmosphere."

The best-case scenario is likely to be a sellout of about 50,000.

McLachlan said the game was far from a Tigers lock-out. He said: "The reality is, people can buy a ticket now, tomorrow and on Wednesday," McLachlan said.

Got the same as only have home games myself, surely if
they sell a ticket then youre in?
On the 16 game one, never reserved a seat online how do you
do that?
This really is bs and besides don't the afl have to declare
fully ticketed?

book seat online is easy
Ticketmaster is Etihad
Ticketek is the MCG
Just put your barcode numbers in there system, and buy a seat.
If you go to an outlet, you are able to select where you will sit.
This week had to pay an extra $25.35 for myself
and my daughteran extra $8.95
worth it if you dont want to sit in the 'nose bleeds"

Email from the club below

Alternatively, you will be able to use your 16-game membership card on the night to gain access into Etihad Stadium. The club has been informed that even if all the seats are sold, you will still be granted entry and be able to view the game from Etihad's standing room areas

Ticketing information for Round 10 v St Kilda, Friday, June 1, 7:50pm

Richmond’s Round 10 clash with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium is an away game.  As a result, Access 11 home game members, Country/Interstate members and 3-game members do not have access to this game with their memberships.  Members can purchase a reserved seat by contacting Ticketmaster via telephone on 1300 136 122 or by going online to www.ticketmaster.com.au

16-game members will have access with their membership card.  Those 16-game members, who want to secure a reserved seat, can do so by contacting Ticketmaster.  Please make sure you have your 12-digit barcode ready (which can be found on the back of your membership card), as this will ensure that you are charged only for the cost of the seat and not admission into the game.

Sorry Mrakov bought my reserve seats and we are Row A on the third level.
They must be reserving the first 6-8 rows on the third level and making the rest general admission.

The last time we beat the Saints way back in 2003 was a Easter Monday IIRC and thousands of Tiger supporters couldn't get into Etihad and were turned away. Friday night could be a repeat of that unless the AFL gives notice soon the game will be fully ticketed.

From speaking to club it is too late for that - They have already sold GA with no seating allocated and have to honor that!

Then the AFL will have egg on their faces as they did in 2003 if they have to lockout fans who turn up wanting to buy a ticket.

What makes it worse is the only MCG games this weekend are Essendon vs Melbourne despite Etihad being the Bombers home ground and on Sunday the crowd pulling blockbuster Collingwood vs Gold Coast  :huh. In the old days our game would've been moved to the 'G so no one missed out on going.

Looks like that is what's gunna happen, gunna be a lot of angry punters but hey if you know your footy you get organized, will be mostly woodworkers and showgoers that will be stuck outside.
It's going to be a fiasco and with the late 19:50 start there will be more fun with the inept Public transport system afterwards, something I look forward to sooooo much going to that sh!thole  :banghead
Tigers win and I'll take it all in stride though  ;D

I left it to my better half to organise the tickets as there will be a group of us going. After reading this thread I asked her if she got reserved or just general and she doesn't know  :banghead . Some will be getting there real early I think so looks like someone will have to pull out the blanket across the seats trick. Might have to knock off work early, but there really is no easy way around traffic to Etihad from the Nepean :(

What happened in 2003 was people turned up without pre-purhased tickets as you say MT they were wanting to buy = they just tried to just get in on the day.

If you already have a a pre-purchased ticket for Friday night whether it be a reserve seat or just GA the stadium must honour it so people like Mrakov who have a ticket for the day must be & are guaranteed entry. Sadly, they will most likely have to sit up the back of level 3 but they will get in

Those that face the risk of being turned away are those who turn up Friday night and try and get in on a 16 gamer m'ship. If all tickets (reserve & GA) are sold out before then your 16 gamer wont get you in and there is no avenue to complain because the fine print on all memebership says it will get you in "subject to ground capacity".

Would suggest anyone thinking of going get a bloody ticket to avoid disappointment  ;D
