Said it a while ago and (again) got completely ridiculed for it but geez...
The Roos are on fire, have been for a while...
WHY.....WHY....WHY??? Why haven't we done the same???
-
As they have recruited stronger bodied players
Miles ahead of us as seen last night
-
They have big men
We don't
Vickers grimes out
Need another defender chf plus a ruckman and we will be huge
-

Yep, and we still recruit the smaller weak payers.

Is what happens when you haven't raised the standard and don't expect success in all departments.
You can massage mediocrity all you like but it's still a cop out.
Raise the standard! Don't accept anything less than what Cotchin gives. And demand the same from every single person on the list.
....then we play finals.
-
Didn't anyone watch the game 5 weeks ago. Not a bees willy in it.
Dont get me started on the inequalties of the draw.

Nothing to do with it, play the cards you are dealt, we are the only team that can't do that.
The willy is massive, they have the mojo, we are as weak as pee.
-
The Roos are ahead of us because we have no depth and cant cover even a few injuries.case in point Ohanlon...the boy might be a gun in the future but at this point in time really doesnt deserve a senior game.
the sad state of affairs at coburg is probably hindering development of our younger brigade, and just think we still have one more year of this mess at coburg to go ,and things might even get worse next year.
-
Everyone thought they were gone this year and we were on the rise...bloody hell, contrasting stories now.. :-\
-
Don't blame Coburg
Doesn't North farm there players out to 2 clubs
-
You have to beat the gold coast bunnies and the northern blues
Forget the draw sulking you need to make your own luck
Don't give hard wick another poor excuse to rest his hat on
He wanted 17 round season five weeks ago
If you look at the 17 games then we would be 8-9 we still wouldn't make the finals with that record
-

Indeed they do,and it seems to be working for them.would you say the clubs they farm their players out to are far more stable than the circus at coburg?

Yeah, North looked great after there two 100 point thrashings earlyer this year ::) ::) They have had the least injurys of any club in the league and the easiest draw possible. Yeah you play te cards your delt but it bloody help if you handed 6 games on a platter! Adelaide is the same....
-
i agree they have had a far easier draw than most.however we do our cause no good at all when we lose to Gold coast, and Freo in the wet in melbourne
-

Yep a team that won 3 flags in a row.
And another strong VFL club.

For sure, I'm not sticking up or us here at all, but give us two shots at the GC and GWS and we would be in the 8 now as well. North and Adelaide will go no where in he finals Fact!!

Well it's happened to the two other sides that got to play them twice :wallywink
-
Theyd be nothing without Petrie
-
for a club that was in tatters earlier this year they have done an amazing job bouncing back.they were a mess off field with their CEO resigning and were getting towled up, on field .Yet they have regrouped and come back twice as hard..I dips me lid to this football club once again
-
They're old.. Their stars are ageing very fast.. I know whose future I'm more excited about :)
We almost rolled them without Grimsey, Foley and Vickery.. and they only won coz they got a free ride with the umps. There was like 4 goals from free kicks that weren't there. We would have won with the above playing easily.
Will be our bunnies for years to come starting in 2013.

Really.....been saying it for bloody years...
-
As they have recruited stronger bodied players
Miles ahead of us as seen last night
Certainly not miles ahead us, when we have close to our best side on the park...if i recall they beat a half strength rfc by 4 points...perhaps sober up before posting rant after rant, the grog impairs your judgement plenty :lol
-
Miles ahead
North was in disarray early in year
CEO gone
President under the pump
Coach under the pump
Injuries
100 point plus beltings
And guess what .they were strong enough to regroup and play finals
They have tall her attack the ball inside 50
They are a good team
Credit where it's due
And they have very ordinary supporter base and not much money
-
bs bs bs bs bs bs bs bs
who saw them v the hawks
ffs the roos have had an easy stuffing draw thats why they are where they are ffs
-
Pies tanked last night - North are ok but get a good run with the umps despite being very "unsocial" team
-
North have beaten the following since Round 11
Collingwood
Essendon
Western Bulldogs
Melbourne
Richmond
Carlton
Beaten by 2 points by West Coast
St.kilda
Adelaide
Gold Coast
Since Round 11 and after the bye
Fair effort I say
Wish the Tiges could achieve that
-
Richmonds 2012 if we had the easy North draw
rd 1 Essendon loss...0-1 (bombers up and running early)
rd 2 GWS win ...1-1
rd 3 Geelong win 2-1 ( unlike us the roos got to play geelong in melbourne)
rd 4 Sydney loss 2-2 ( only because its SCG)
rd 5 G Coast win 3-2 (they get to play the suns in melbourne)
rd 6 W Coast loss 3-3 (only because its at Subi)
rd 7 W bulldogs win 4-3
rd 8 Port win ...5-3
rd 9 Bris win ...6-3
rd 10 Hawthorn win 7-3
rd 11 BYE
rd 12 G Coast win 8-3
rd 13 Adelaide loss 8-4
rd 14 St kilda win 9-4
rd 15 W Coast loss 9-5
rd 16 Carlton loss 9-6 (this was the week we lost to GC)
rd 17 North loss 9-7
rd 18 Melb win 10 -7
rd 19 W Bull win 11-7
rd 20 Ess win 12-7
rd 21 Collingwood loss 12 -8
rd 22 Freo loss 12 -9
rd 23 GWS win 13-9
This is WHY we missed finals in 2012
-
What's drugs you on ?
Couldn't beat Gold Coast
Couldn't beat Carlton 2nds team
Thank god we don't play Gold Coast twice a year
North beat Adelaide and Collingwood
Good luck us beating them
-
The improvement in the Tigers is quite clear.
After 20 rounds we're 9-11 but our percentage is 110.17.
Percentage is a better indication of our competitiveness. I'd disappointed we're not going to make finals, and furious that we lost to GC, Carlton etc. But this year should be seen positively.
They're not quite there yet, but they damned well may be next year (lol I know...next year) but since Dimma came in there has been a very obvious/continuous rise in performance and consistency. One year you might get four more wins, the next year only a couple more, but our percentage is very healthy and we haven't been flogged this year at all.
I'm confident there are good things to come.
-
yep must win games against the Suns
next year guys,next year :shh

North played GC twice in the first 12 rounds. They also got to play them in Melbourne. The way we were travelling at the time it would of been two easy wins.
I also put the Carlton game as a loss ...so whats your point ?
I believe we were in front of Adelaide at 3/4 time (in Adelaide) while getting raped by umpires.
-
we cannot change the past but we can write the future :clapping

everyone png everyone.
-
Our expectations don't match our ability
here here well said jack.
-
Looking back on the season, our one great failure has been a severe lack of depth. When Vicks, foley and grimes went down we just werent able to cover their loss.
And unfortunately nobody was able to step up for us and even partially fill the void.Go forbid the injury was to a cotch or Lids or big Ivan

i thinks its certain persons in the family
that need to adjust their expectations then do a
VERUCA SALT on these pages.
funny as.
-
North; run hard, spread quick, isolate their main forward and it's opened, skillful players and an overall better game plan.
Richmond; contested football, congested forward line, kick and hope, play against our strengths, over possess the football, no quick spread (but Cotchin), play to boundary line relying on our skills hitting targets which doesn't happen, average game plan and coach doesn't adjust to opposition tactics on match day, clearly no Plan B or C!

Spot on Torch :thumbsup

mate ive said all yr we are a bottom 6 side and the depth of the list is terrible. was asking before a ball was bounced in anger what would happen when we copped just a few injuries.
our expectations are too high because we have too many players who dont have the required ability or if they do they are far too erarly in development to greatly influence games.
ive repeatedly said thru the yr that imo we are a bigger chance to miss the 8 again next yr than make it because of kpis concerning the list.
ive said we run as far 16 on the list we dont have a decent 22 the bottom 6 are ordinary in the extreme.
nope jack is right our expectations dont match our ability.
-
After 2 years of finishing 9th norf have taken the next step, albeit on the back of a very cushy draw
Personally i don't rate them, they could only beat a crap Richmond side by 4pts, talk about embarrassing
Pressure on us to take the step next year
But we knew that a month ago - seems despite the dummy spits that our season was over a few convinced themselves it wasn't until yesterday ;)
:lol

Why cant we start an ongoing thread comparing RFC to the sides are going well, we can pick the best side of the week and compare how crap we are to that side every week.
Sounds like fun.

you need to get around the clubs more. ;D
-
gotta laugh at the mean spirited lot who cant give any credit to any one other than richmond.
on this thread ive read.
we only lost by 4 points so north are crap.
seems to me regardless of form or ladder position in recent yrs the two teams match up pretty well against each other and the games have been close.
they copped a few big thrashings including 100 points so they are crap. had nothing to do with injuries or poor form at the time. they have depth issues like all clubs and can ill afford injuries.
yet when we cop injuries to just a few yes we have had a great run again this yr its a legit excuse you cant have it both ways.
what else oh yeah they got to play gc and gws twice and boo hoo we didnt. we struggled when we played em once whos to say we would have won if we played em twice. i have to ask how many of the top 8 sides have we had to play twice we have had a soft draw and people bitch like little girls.
they would be nothing without petrie lol that is the height of ignorance and blinkered in the extreme do we hate opposition that much that we cant give just a little credit.
they would sorely miss him just like we would miss riewoldt but their other tall forwards have given infinately more than ours and they have a couple in the vfl performing well we cant say that.
they are old and their stars are fading.
sheesh their list is not much older than ours and their three oldest players in petrie 29 harvey 34 and firrito 29 lead the way and are performing to a high standard.at the start of the yr their players averaged 46 games a player and we averaged 45.
collingwood tanked last night lol. a side in a dog fight for 4th spot a double chance and home finals tanked how silly is that.
oh and the final one the umps look after em reckon just our supporters theirs would tell ya they are harshly done by.
yep we are shallow minded and petty when it comes to opposition teams.
the simple truth is there is not a lot of difference between the two sides at full strength.theres not a huge gap between 12 14 teams at full strength. but there is some real difference in key areas of their list. overall quality and depth and structure is where their list is so much stronger than ours.

nothing wrong with Claw's posts gents

I hate to say it but I do agree with you Dan 8) he makes some very laid points, if only there was a way to get to those points with a few less words ;D
-
Facts are we all want the RFC to be successful.
I don't know about that sometimes. I reckon some blokes enjoy being miserable and will always find a way to bag the club. The day we win a flag you will be able to come on here and I bet the usual suspects will be carrying on with something about how it was a fluke or doesn't mean anything if we can't go back to back blah blah blah.
-

One.of the.reasons is norf have
Wells Harvey.petrie swallow mcinish.firrito as senior players.
We have maric tuck newman. And young lids
-
Malthouse last night on 3aw was buoyant about the Tiges. He said our midfield could go a long way and for a long time because we're young. We just need to sort out our bookends especially the forward line. They said a fair bit of that will depend on what Vickery does in 2013.
-
If that's the case
Will book my 2013 holidays in September
-
Since being dropped by the flogpies, Mick has been a serial RFC flirt.

i don't buy that but that's your opinion
Some have had enough for 30 years and want finals. I am in that boat.
Had enough of mediocrity e.g seeing Mcguane drop the ball 1 metre out, losing to GC, Jackson still in the team and still in the leadership group.
That's where it sits with me. I don't blame anyone for being impatient with the club after putting up with it for 30 years.
If we had beaten GC and pulled off a win against the cheats then i would definately have considered the year a success but losing those 2 IMO just put it as a borderline year.
Its all my opinion
-

im on here to give my opinion. an opinion that is nearly always right or gets proven to be right.
i really dont care who reads my posts this is a forum to say what i think and put it out there.
i like to think thinking people read them and learn something those who choose to not read them well and good they can live in ignorance with their limited view on things..

whos miserable and always bagging the club.
when it comes to players i rate them on strengths weakness and overall performance.not my fault that 99% of the time my assesment of our players is correct. i rarely call for young players heads and as a rule of thumb only talk about strengths and weakness in their first 4 yrs.
when it comes to the club im an angel compared to most on this site,
about the only areas i criticise are recruiting over 8 yrs jackson, and list managment over 6 yrs cameron. i strenuously defend hardwick and the improvments that have occured
simple fact is 95% of my posts are related to list management and recruiting and they always relate to what i think should be done.
if analising what they have done well and what they have done poorly and looked at their overall performance is bagging them then i bag em. perhaps more should do the same without the black and yellow blinkers on.

when it comes to players i rate them on strengths weakness and overall performance.not my fault that 99% of the time my assesment of our players is correct. i rarely call for young players heads and as a rule of thumb only talk about strengths and weakness in their first 4 yrs.
when it comes to the club im an angel compared to most on this site,
about the only areas i criticise are recruiting over 8 yrs jackson, and list managment over 6 yrs cameron. i strenuously defend hardwick and the improvments that have occured
simple fact is 95% of my posts are related to list management and recruiting and they always relate to what i think should be done.
if analising what they have done well and what they have done poorly and looked at their overall performance is bagging them then i bag em. perhaps more should do the same without the black and yellow blinkers on.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you want Vickery dropped at start of year cause his shown nothing?
yep i wanted him dropped. why did i want him dropped. very simple to me a 4th yr player who had proven little whos preseason was terrible and the early games he had played worse.
wanting a badly out of form player sent back to the twos to find some form is not bagging imo. reckon i was shown to be right on that one.
if any of our players played like vickery did i would want them sent back to coburg.
there were times when riewoldt should have been dropped as well. that doesnt mean i think we should delist either, its just recognition that they werent going too well at the time and have areas they need to work on.
i remain highly critical of parts of jacks game needless to say that goes for vickery as well. they are criticisms not bagging and demanding we cut em loose.

I want to know why something hasnt been done about Claw and his analising, its surely worth a reprimand
