Nice get Tigers, clever tap Ruckman who can mark and has some grunt.
Very handy back up for evaaan.
-
Yes, loved his follow up work to, really went hard today.. :clapping
-
Was fairly bummed with his input prior to today, but couldn't ask any more of him today. Battled on and provided contest all around the ground all day and on his own. :thumbsup
-
Very good today. Tried his guts out and a much better performance today than last time. Effort wise he was outstanding.

I didn't see the game and I'm not trolling for a whack at Gus - can someone who saw the game please review his performance against what we could have expected from Graham?

Gave much more. Granted it was one game and Gus had the odd good game too. Thought Stephenson has been disappointing in the short time until now, but today gave a solid slog and didn't taper off towards the end despite playing all game and against 3 blokes.
-
Thanks Dwaino, appreciate your comments (Petterd also).

His tap work was actually considered, he looked capable of doing something purposeful
-
Cheers Y&B. Sounds like we might have a bit more ruck depth than we did with Gus. Strengthening depth is going to take us deeper into September, that's for sure.
-
IMO I just reckon we can stress a bit less if anything happens to Maric and we can use this bloke instead of Gus or Derickx.
-
On tonights performance against three Essendone ruckman, promote the big O!
-
Bummers were disgraceful
-
Rucked well against three opponents and hit the contest hard too even late in the game taking a few big pack marks.
Will add alot to our side.
Can play the position and have impact.

On yesterdays perfomance he probably deserves to be elevated in front of pettard, but i cant see both him an ivan playing together so i doubt he would elevated only to play mainly at coburg
-
Al on yetserdays form he appears the perfect foil for Maric.
I would elevate him as maric needs help otherwise he will break down, does way too much work .
Ty is another option but probably needs to help jack out on the forward line
-
I wouldn't be elevating him until he strings a couple of games like that together. I watched him a bit last year and he was very incositant. Just remember this time last week he was being labeled as a Hack ;D

I agree, but will they take both of them into a game together?
The sub rule haw all but elimated two rukmen from the one team, unless one can hold down another position on the ground.
Perhaps the cap on interchanges means you could have only two mid sized players on the bench?, but i dont think that is in for the season proper?
Yeah two heade tiger, he needs to show that consistantly. So far he has a 50% strike rate ;D
-
Did OK ...

Do you mean incontinent?
If so, he doesn't strike as the type who poohs himself at a contest ;D
-
Have to say his game yesterday was a most pleasant surprise.
thought he was very good as I posted on another thread the Bumbling Bomblers got back into the game when he was rested up forward and Vickery went in the middle. We easily won the clearances when he took the centre bounces
-
Better for sure. 8)

I don't think maric / O fit in the same 22.
That said he was very good. Simar to Browne lone hand vs bombers some time ago.
-
Wasn't surprised with his competitiveness. Will only compete for longer as his match fitness improves. Knows his trade craft well. A clear upgrade on Gus.
-
Glad to hear he had a good game, but needs to back it up week in week out at Coburg so if anything happens to Maric, we have someone who can do the role given to them.
-
Don't think he has any problems at VFL level
-
Get him to do a Greg Dear.
-
Perfect backup. The club shouldn't have to keep Maric playing injured in 2013 (like last year) with the Big O ready to fill in! :thumbsup
-
so long as he doesn't become the big 0
-
Am hardly a prude but I will watch the comments on this guy with interest. Could be the next Maric and I don't mean Ivan
-
His played one good game out of three :lol some people have short memories
-
has he played 3 games? geez, don't remember that
-

Wait, did he actually play against North?
-
I saw him for a while in an exhibition match back at the start of feb, but i also remember McGwog rucking quite a bit of that
Last week I recall seeing Maric and Derickx but not sure if I saw Roy Orbison
sorry mate, short memory and a stuffed one at that
-
Just getting used to the team. Thought his game was very good. I must admit, he surprised me. I thought he was a spud of the highest order but he has made me rethink about this so the jury is now officially out!
-

Didn't play against Melbourne or North that night. Which games are you referring too?
-
Already 30 years old....... Not getting excited about him that's for sure.
Only a rookie so no big deal, but if Maric goes down then he's there.
I wouldn't put him on the list unless Maric goes down.
-
Has a role in this team, but only if maric/vickery goes down.
Won't be elevated for any reason other than to ruck. There's enough big guys in the fwd/back so he won't be elevated to play there IMO.
I was impressed with his ruck work against the bummers though. Is way ahead of dericx in terms of skill.
Is not a bad player to have in terms of ruck depth.

Who cares how old he is?

Big O boost for Tigers
By richmondfc.com.au
Thursday, March 7, 2013
“I think the biggest thing a ruckman can do is lay a platform,” Stephenson said on this week’s episode of the Club’s official podcast, “Talking Tigers”.
“I was pretty disappointed coming out of Alice Springs (where Richmond played the Indigenous All Stars in early February) because I wasn’t competitive enough in the first half.
“You don’t have to be a superstar, just set a tone for the midfield group and put your body where it needs to be, in the way.
“It’s pretty basic sort of footy, and it doesn’t have to be anything too special.”
