-
What a bloody joke, cotcha should be 3 and lids around top 10, behind scott selwood LOL :lol...like i could see plenty of clubs believing that
-
Dangerfield 3 lmfao
-
Swap Cotchin for Danger.
LOL @ Petrie and then no jack
-
Why give this muppet more air?
Couldn't understand it when he had a job, can't understand it now
Wouldn't know a footballer from a parking inspector
:sleep
-
Very strange to have Kennedy before Cotchin
-
Sheahan should be more worried bout gettin tazered for wandering around in a senile daze by a trigger happy cop than making his stupid nonsensical lists.
-
Sloan > Deledio.
-
The annual Bryce Gibbs is a top 50 player list. Can't be an easy thing to make a list of top 50 but you'd think the top couple couldn't be that hard. How is Cloke 12 and Jack not in the list? If it's because Jack was slightly down on form last year then wtf was Cloke doing? Was as bad as Dawes. :whistle
-
Im outraged.Where's Ivannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
-
Usually Mike gets pretty close but not this time. How cotch is not top 3 just amazes me.
Lids at 31 is nonsense,he is top 20 with a bullit.
Think its a bit rich for mike to have Dusty top 50 though
-
Fyfe anywhere near the top 25 is a bit rich too. Hardly got on the park last year and this year isn't looking any different.
-
Maybe some posters who think Mike uses potential also might be on the money.
In that case Ellis ,Grimes, and vlastuin should be in there too
-

yeah but you get extra points from mike if you look like a little girl, see fyfe, sloane, thomas :-*
he must be throbbing to put heppell in there
-
Sloane is as tough as nails and an ABSOLUTE GUN.
Is on the verge of stardom.
-
Where is the duel Coleman medalist....I see his cousin made the list.
-
yes cant work out how jack misses out and nick gets in..If my memory serves me Nick needed a walking stick last year
-
If my fading memory is any good Jack was around 10 spots higher than Nick last year.
-
Why the hell didn't Aaron Edwards get on his list. :banghead
What a stuffing joke! :banghead
-
mr tigra indeed its a travesty
-
Jack not ahead of Walker and Cloke please.Jacks last 3 season have been fantastic and he has 2 colemans to show for that.

OE should do a top 50 posters in this forum.
Mr Tigra would be the Rory Sloane on his list. ;D
-
Maric and Jack Riewoldt were in there last year weren't they?
One had the third most hit outs and the other one won the Coleman.

Rory Sloane, 33 games, height 185cm, weight 86kg, fourth season.
Courageous, inspiring, hard-at-it Sloane ranks highly in contested possessions and tackles. He played 18 matches last year despite suffering a broken jaw in round one, and has been earmarked as a future leader.
Sounds good to me. Pretty spot on actually. :thumbsup

What did Jack Riewoldt do wrong to miss out in Mike's Top 50 AFL players
Jon Anderson
From: Herald Sun
March 12, 2013
Like many in our football-obsessed city I have long been an avid reader of your Top 50 AFL players, in fact dating back to 1990 when Stephen Kernahan pipped Jason Dunstall and Greg Williams for your inaugural No.1.
Sitting alongside you during your arduous compilation of the list has allowed me to realise just how diligent you are when rating the young men who make our weekends more enjoyable.
Naturally, given it is such a subjective exercise, there can never be a definitive list and the general consensus would suggest you do better than most could hope (otherwise, it wouldn't still be running).
But as is always the case with a complimentary build-up there must come the obligatory whack, and mine is what in the heck did Jack Riewoldt do for you exclude him from your Top 50?
We are talking about the 2012 Coleman medallist, someone who was proficient enough at his craft to boot more goals than Travis Cloke, Buddy Franklin, Tom Hawkins, Matthew Pavlich and Taylor Walker.
Yet that crew all rated not in your top 50 but in your top 20 players in the following order: Franklin (4th) Walker (9th) Cloke (12th) Hawkins (17th) and Pavlich (19th).
Maybe you based it on the fact the Riewoldt could only finish ninth in his club's best-and-fairest, yet that argument becomes void given Cloke had the same finish at Collingwood.
Or maybe you just don't rate the cousin of Nick that highly. And given your Top 50 is based on who you think will be the best 50 players in 2013, as distinct who were the best in 2012, then you clearly don't think Riewoldt is in for much of a season.
I beg to differ given his 2012 season, while far from his maximum output, was achieved on the back of a severely restricted pre-season because of injury.
This pre-season has seen him moving freely, even if he has developed a strange penchant for wanting to give the ball off when he is in position to score.
Or maybe, and I think this must be the real reason, you haven't been too impressed with "Jumping Jack's'' desire to become involved in ridiculous arguments with umpires in games that mean nothing.
No doubt the Richmond hierarchy has been in his ear to stop wasting his breath on no-win situations and to save it for repeat efforts.
But isn't everyone allowed a weakness? And wasn't it Matthew Richardson who was once criticised for the same before becoming the competition's most loved player?
Best wishes, Ando

Well Mike doesn't rate Lids must have almost sent him to the funny farm to include him this year :rollin

True, at last years AA he didnt even mention Lids when giving the rundown of the team, just brushed over him and mentioned another HB who didnt make it(cant recall who though).

Jacks got the.potential to finish with 12 Coleman yet didn't make it...

All of these guys rate Cotchin higher than Milhouse, the only exception being that Footy Show buffoon Shane Crawford.
-
On page 68 of the HUN today (sorry Cyclops I couldn't scan it in) there's a pretty good and legitimate whack at Mike Sheehan for excluding Jack from his top 50. Alot of ppl dislike Jack for his perceived attitude, I like it and and think its good that he brings that real ranga flair to the fwd line. Stuff the haters :cheers
Also yes Lids was stiff, as was Jack and Eevan but it would take for us to win multiple premierships before we had 5 players featured in his top 50 and really who gives a flying fk anyway? We know where they rank
-
Is Crawford serious? Cotchin not in the Top 10 but Goddard is? :wallywink As Wayne said, what a buffoon!!!
And Jon Anderson: 4 Hawthorn players in his Top 10 but no Kennedy or Selwood.
Seriously, these guys get PAID to comment on football! :help
-
And Jon Anderson: 4 Hawthorn players in his Top 10 but no Kennedy or Selwood.
Rioli and BIRCHALL :o :wallywink
-
The fact that Cotchin ranks at 2,3,3,2,3,5 according to 6 of the 7 of those blokes says more about Cr0rf than anything else.

Birchall that is funny - will get exposed as the one sided, down hill skier, contest avoider he is now that Suckling, Whitehead & Young are no longer about to take the main source of forward defensive pressure.

Agree mate. Too many robots in today's game. Blokes with a bit of personality are few and far between and are often demonized for showing emotion. I reckon it's a shame.
Sloane is a good young player, yes, but there is no way in hell that he is better than Lids, or Jack for that matter.

Richmond related replies from Mike Sheahan's live chat today ....
Comment From James
If Brett Deledio isn't considered a better player than Scott Selwood at the end of this season I'll eat my hat
Mike Sheahan:
A lot of Richmond people will be hoping you are right. But Selwood is underrated player who won West Coast's best and fairest last year and he's younger than Deledio.
Comment From Your Name
Prance Franklin so high but no Jack Reiwoldt? Were you drunk?
Mike Sheahan:
Yes Ando has taken me to task in the Herald Sun ... in the nicest possible way! While Riewoldt won the Coleman Medal, he won with 65 goals - not even three a game. The All Australian selectors left him out and his own club rated eight players ahead of him in its best and fairest award. Nice boy, Jack, but needs to get his attitude right on the footy field.
Comment From Jess.
Andrew Swallow at 35 and Deledio at 31. Any reasoning behind that? Two of the most underrated players in the game, should be top 20 IMO.
Mike Sheahan:
Both good players, both have a little bit to do to be rated elite.
Comment From Mike
You mention jack only kicked 65 goals, yet he kicked more then Walker while also having a limited preseason while carrying a truck load of injuries. As his opps at the end of the season prove. I'm also staggered you think Jack will have such a poor year! has taylor walker got the consistency of jack ?
Mike Sheahan:
You talk about consistency, I think that's Jack's problem. He certainly needs to work on his attitude, which is a view held by most of the Richmond supporters too. If Jack worked as hard as Tex he'd be in the top 10 too.
Comment From Matthew
Mike, you've obviously been burnt more than a few times by the Tiges. Why not just let it go and rate the players as they should be rated.
Mike Sheahan:
Do you mean burnt as in let down? I've been conservative about the boys from Punt Rd for quite a while and history says it's probably been a wise strategy. Just for the record: I have three Richmond players in. Not a bad representation for a team that finished 12th last year.
Comment From geoff
hi mike the only point i want to make is that you have compilied your top 50 on what you think they may do for the year so for example say jack was to win the colman medal would that then place him at number 9 instead of walker at the end of the year as you say in your opinon walker will win the colman and that is why you placed him at number 9[/b]
Mike Sheahan:
The post season list is a reflection purely of what players did in the previous six months. Jack was in the 40s last year, but I must say I thought it was a disappointing performance overall.

Stuff me Sheahan is a knob. If those other forwards were more consistent than Jack they would have kicked more goals. More than happy to put in Cloke and Walker but they had blokes finish ahead of them in their B&Fs too. Gave Dusty a mention and by his own justification on Jack he shouldn't have included Martin either.
Surely could have dropped any number of the random name drops like Rich at 43 and given Jack a token mention.
-
The fact that Cotchin ranks at 2,3,3,2,3,5 according to 6 of the 7 of those blokes says more about Cr0rf than anything else.
Too much croc media.

Lol @ Sheahan's response that Jack won a Coleman with ONLY 65 goals. Well stuff me how many did the others kick. :shh :whistle

Mike has said in the past that his preseason top 50 is more about what he predicts/expects to happen with players in the upcoming season; his end of season top 50 is more about the season just gone. So what Jack did or didn't do last year will be irrelevent if he returns to his best this year.
Anyway if we make the finals this year then no doubt Mike will jump on the bandwagon and put more Tiges in his next top 50.

The issue with it is the chopping and changing of the reasons for leaving people out or having players in. They don't make sense. :lol

Roo should stick to his Friday night pub routine from Fox Footy. Probably made his list there. :shh
Taylor Walker at number 2. Had to have a double take. He's the best player besides Ablett in the league and then you have Dangerfield at 5, Thompson at 14 and Jacobs at 17 . I guess as the Premiers they deserve to have 4 players in the top 17 including 2 in the top 5. I mean they went undefeated last year afterall. oh wait. ::)

Yesssssss big man. :clapping Stick to Parmy's and a beer on Friday night's big fella.
Taylor Walker - did he get a kick before the game was already over? Yes he plays some good games but stuff me he can go missing.
Patty Dangerfield - third best midfielder in the league? :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol So explosive his own shadow keeps catching him.
Scott Thompson - did he win a clearance tonight? second to the ball all night like their whole team. If they were playing against a good midfield fair enough but playing Jobe and his band of spuds... :whistle
Sam Jacobs - got clowned by Tom "stuffing" Bellchambers. The same bellchambers that couldn't beat the Big O a bloody 86yo ex-state leaguer from the 1940's that CC found at his grandparents retirement village.
Rory Sloane - Mr.Invisible that can't kick a goal from 30m out straight in front. Well done Goldilocks you big man you. :clapping
Wouldn't have a Crow in my top 600 after tonight. ;D :shh

Good to see cheats fail. Even though they got beaten by the other cheats.

I did, and I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. :'(

Mike now looking an official idiot leaving Jack out of his top 50 :wallywink
