Went online looking for tickets and there isn't anything good available. Is this coz they're selling the crap seats first? Anyone know when the premium seats go on sale?

Premium sears are goneskis

WP may be right. This isn't like the dreamtime, 85k plus expected and pies supporters snap tickets up before you can blink your eyes.
I'd rock up at 11am and get whatever tickets are left. They won't be premium but at least your there.
-
Hrmm might have to sit in level 4 with the working class
Firstworldproblems
-
Always the option of standing up the back behind the Richmond end goals with the feral faithful ;D. Better than sitting near some drunken moronic Pies supporter on level 4.

Standing is not an option for me MT. Have a bung knee

Not only that but there is a number (probably 5-8k) of Pies members who have premium seats as part of their 16-17 game membership - hence why they are goneskis
-
Will it be over 80,000?
-
Will it be over 80,000?
No rain 85000 plus
Rain or lose to Buldogs 75000- 80000
-
Will it be over 80,000?
like always that will depend on how many AFL & MCC members bother to show up
-
If the pies get up could be over 85k
-
we will start outsiders against collingwood but we are half a chance I reckon. :gotigers

no experts will pick us to win but if we play to our capability we could nail the pies and then the bandwagon will be unstoppable. whose running Richmonds membership department? They will need to work extra hours if we go 4-0 after next week. :gotigers
-
Got to keep building on the percentage, must win game 15 goals plus is acceptable
-
Pies will be battered and bruised from the wet and sloppy game at the G today.
We just had a training drill under a roof, lol.
-
We can win on our day. I think overall our list is still growing and behind collingwood. But our best are superior to them

Good to get the win, but lets not get carried away :thumbsup
we have extremely tough opponents to beat next week, and we are a chance.
Need to build on the positives from todays game and play for the kill :boxer
-
Havent looked at the fixture yet is it our home game? I dont think we share gate receipts with Collingwood and next weeks game is gonna be a huge money spinner.

We haven't shared gate receipts for some years now after a cash strapped Richmond pulled out of the agreement to share the gate from their home game
-
They look poo on tv right now
Tiges by 6 goals :whistle :pray

Will be 60,000 tigers alone perhaps
-
Pies have gone from being 22 pts up on Hawthorn in the 2nd qtr to being flogged by 7 goals and counting. Bring 'em on! :gotigers
-
Massive massive massive chance next week. If you're going to take juicy odds on us do it early. Reckon we'll get backed heavily after the massacre at the 'G today. :shh
3rd on the ladder too. Keep a lid on it :shh
-
It's going to get serious over the next few weeks. No easy games and we could play really well and still end up 3-3. Really hoping we can snatch one to stay in front on the ledger. Reckon the biggest thing going for us into next week is Pies have a short break into the ANZAC match and might try and leave something in the tank.
Next week is going to be huge.
-
Whatever the result next week it will show us where we are compared to a top 4 side and whether we can potentially be a top 4 side this year or whether we will be scrapping for 6-8.
After today's results we are a chance however what needs to be communicated is that they got beaten by last years GF runner up by 10 goals and both what happens in the stands in terms of our crowd pull and our potential membership as well as our potential on field improvement will be there for all to see and the Pies will be well aware of this. To them it won't just be about the four points. It will be about us on and off field and the threat to ther superiority at this stage of proceedings.
If we can see it in exactly the same as they will both on and off field whilst a win next week is certainly not guaranteed a performance of quality will be and whilst they may have it over us on experience and recent record against us the result won't hinge on that.
As our membership slogan reiterates " The roar is Back". It is upto the whole club and the 22 that go to war on Saturday that will determine how loud the roar is. :thumbsup
-
Pies fans already saying they'll give us a bath :help

Season defining game this one. We did what we should of against the Dogs, must now start beating these bigger teams as we did against the Blues.

I remember in 2009 going on most tiger forums and urging all Tiger fans to buy tkts for Ben Cousins first game for the Tiges in 09’ as it could be a sell out and as we know it sold out like 3 days before, i vividly remember many tiger fans being disappointed and upset to miss out on this match even though we lost but a great atmosphere nonetheless, this sat against the pies it could well go down the same path of a sell out so im urging all 3, 5, 11 & 16 general admission members to upgrade to a reserve seat...When upgrading to a reserved seat, quote your 12-digit membership barcode on the back of your membership card for the discounted price. Reserved seat members are already guaranteed access for the game....
"If you prefer to stand in standing areas please ignore the below info"....
I have done some test buys on Ticketek in the PUBLIC RESERVE and AFL RESERVE and will say now not many seats available...

Myself and a few mates are planning on doing a soccer style tifo on Saturday. We need everyone's help to get this message out to the tiger army that are going to the game on Saturday to bring their scarf and if they are sitting at the punt road end hold their scarf above their head after the boys run through the banner. This will look amazing and it is something I have never seen done before in the AFL but would look great if it could be pulled off.

Not necessarily daniel. They need to be able to get in no guaranteee that they'll be able to
Both Clubs have massive member numbers so the availability for non members to just turn up is greatly diminished. That will only put people (read non members) off from going IMV
Not many tickets left, once they are goneski, they are goneskis

Will have no bearing on the crowd number.
The whole reason the football was not live FTA, before foxfooty wasso more people would attend games.
According to the AFL theory.
Is it not?
Err No...............
The reason it wasn't live on FTA before the current arrangement (2012-2016) was because it wasn't a condition of the contract. FTA had the option to go live but chose not to. The AFL wanted games (especially Friday nights) live. This current deal with the exception of the Sat Arvo game states that games are to be broadcast live or as close to it on FTA TV. Ch 7 are doing this
Secondly, The AFL will tell you that their whole fixture is based around "maximising attendances". They still say all games live on TV whether that is PayTV or FTA has not impacted on crowds. This is obviously crap but I digrese.
Actually heard Caro on 3AW last night saying the reason it is on Fox is because as part of the current contract and the $$$$ Fox are paying they "demanded" a certain number of blockbuster games be given them to as exclusives (Fox games only) and not shared. This season RFC -v- C'wood is one of those games
-
for a long time the AFL would say they did not want live telecast because they believed it would affect attendances.
Jackboot andy even said not that long ago that attendance numbers they were getting proved this not to be the case
-

Get set for a bumper crowd
By richmondfc.com.au
2:21pm AEST Wednesday, April 17, 2013
The crowd for this Saturday afternoon's Richmond v Collingwood blockbuster at the MCG shapes as the biggest for a match between these two clubs since the 1980 Grand Final.
That '80 Grand Final attendance was 113,461 and, since then, the only time a Richmond and Collingwood meeting has attracted more than 80,000 spectators, was in Round 19, 1983 at the 'G', when Tiger great Kevin Bartlett became the first player in league football history to reach the 400-game milestone, in front of a crowd of 81,966.

A big occasion
By Ashley Browne
afl.com.au
5:00pm AEST Wednesday, April 17, 2013
NATHAN Buckley is so process and routine-oriented that he needed a reminder on Wednesday that Collingwood will not be facing any old opponent on the weekend.
The Pies will be up against a club, and involved in a clash, that carries a fair bit of tradition.
It is Richmond v Collingwood on a Saturday afternoon at the MCG. A crowd of more than 80,000 is expected and, after just a little prompting, the Collingwood coach acknowledged that this one might be more than just another game.
"When you take half a step back and allow yourself to have a look at the occasions you are going into - and that's the smelling the roses part I have always needed help with – it is great to see that," he said at the Westpac Centre on Wednesday.
"We know how feral the Richmond supporters can get; we know how feral our supporters can be and we know how loud both those supporter bases are. It's a fantastic opportunity for our players to play in."
Buckley's enthusiasm for the occasion came about partly as a result of some prodding from the assembled media, but he can be excused for that.
As he later explained, Richmond-versus-Collingwood in his playing days often meant a clash between two sides "at the wrong end of the ladder".
"When I played, we were two bottom-four clubs so that took some of the gloss off," he said.
The last meeting between the two clubs took place in the second weekend of last season. Buckley noted that Richmond's key performance indicators last season were those of a top-eight, perhaps even a top-six side.
"They've got a lot of talent there," he said when asked his assessment of where Richmond's improvement has come from in the past 12 months.
"It's just playing together more and understanding their systems more."
Buckley said the Magpies would need to pay attention to more than just Richmond's midfield trio of Brett Deledio, Trent Cotchin and Dustin Martin.
"They get the majority of the focus, but their back six is pretty strong and defensively, they have put a lot of work into the way they operate together.
"Jake King as a small forward plays his role well in comparison to the rest of the competition, Shane Edwards sneaks under the guard and Reece Conca is coming on," he said.
Saturday's clash also marks the 200th game for star midfielder Dane Swan.

Money comes for Collingwood Magpies to beat Richmond Tigers
Written by: Morgan Payne
Sports News
17/4/2013
The Tigers may have had their best start to a season in years, but at least one punter is tipping it will come to an end this week, betting $25,000 at $1.72 with online bookmaker sportsbet that Collingwood will win this weekend’s big matchup.
Collingwood have easily been the best backed team of the round, with only minimal support for the Tigers seeing them drift from $2.05 to $2.10.
“The Tiger supporters may be up and about, but punters aren’t convinced that they are the real deal just yet. In what was tipped to be a close game, it is certainly all one way traffic from a punting point of view on Collingwood,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

$2.10 Richmond (out from $2.05)
$1.72 Collingwood (steady)

Preview: Tigers v Magpies
By Jennifer Phelan
afl.com.au
SUMMARY:
The Tiger army is celebrating the club's best start to a season since 1995 with three wins in a row against Carlton, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs. Their 67-point win against the Dogs on Sunday was their most complete, with the midfield in devastating form and Jack Riewoldt booting five goals after a slow start. Meanwhile, the Magpies lost their first game for the season on Sunday after wins over North Melbourne and Carlton. They have a lengthy injury list that includes Nick Maxwell, Dayne Beams, Darren Jolly and Luke Ball but coach Nathan Buckley wouldn't use that as an excuse for why they fell to Hawthorn by 55 points.
LAST FIVE TIMES
Rd 2, 2012, Collingwood 12.13 (85) d Richmond 8.16 (64) at the MCG
Rd 4, 2011, Collingwood 24.17 (161) d Richmond 13.12 (90) at the MCG

THE SIX POINTS
1. Collingwood defeated Richmond the last time the sides met, winning by 21 points in round two early in the 2012 season at the MCG.
2. In that victory, Travis Cloke booted three goals and Dane Swan collected three Brownlow votes for his 32 possessions. Brett Deledio was best for the Tigers with 35 possessions and two goals.
3. Collingwood has dominated Richmond recently, winning the past five matches by an average margin of 62 points.
4. Richmond last defeated Collingwood in round 19, 2007 at the MCG. Fourth-year Richmond coach Damien Hardwick is winless against the Magpies.
5. This will be the 200th clash between the sides with the Magpies holding the advantage with 114 wins to 84, and one draw.
6. At the MCG, the teams have met 63 times with 32 wins to Collingwood and 31 to Richmond, with the highest home-and-away attendance to watch these teams 92,436 in round 4, 1977 at the MCG.

A richmond fan is trying to get everyone up the PRE to bring a scarf and as the boys run out get everyone to lift their scarf above their head. For anyone sitting around that area get involved and spread the word as it will look amazing. If you're not in that area like myself then get involved anyway. Tiger Army >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Magpie Army
Here's his post on BF:
Myself and a few mates are planning on doing a soccer style tifo on Saturday. We need everyone's help to get this message out to the tiger army that are going to the game on Saturday to bring their scarf and if they are sitting at the punt road end hold their scarf above their head after the boys run through the banner. This will look amazing and it is something I have never seen done before in the AFL but would look great if it could be pulled off.

Listening to these guys with their excuses if Collingwood are down by 6 goals will be entertaining.
For the first time, Fox Footy viewers will have the opportunity to choose between neutral commentary or pro-Magpie commentary led by Magpies president Eddie McGuire when Collingwood take on Richmond.
McGuire will be joined in the box by Collingwood 1990 premiership players Michael Christian, Peter Daicos and Tony Shaw.

Richmond set to cash in on blockbuster against Collingwood
By: Jon Ralph
From: Herald Sun April 18, 2013 5:52PM
RICHMOND chief executive Brendon Gale says the Tigers deserve their blockbuster test against the Pies in a contest which will draw the biggest crowd between the sides in three decades.
The Tigers are hopeful of a crowd well in excess of 80,000, which would not only continue the flood of new members but also significantly boost their bottom line.
The club wants to be debt-free by the end of next year, and will make a minimum of $500,000 from the game but potentially much more if the crowd rolls in.
The two sides haven't had a crowd above 80,000 since Round 19, 1983, when 81,966 fans watched Kevin Bartlett play his 400th game.
Now the Tigers are 3-0, and while they are under no illusions about the test Collingwood will provide, they hope they are ready.
"The fact is that for both sides the planets haven't aligned (in the past),'' Gale sad.
"There haven't been too many games of real significance. Collingwood have been an outstanding team for the last few years and we haven't been. But we deserve our shot at them. We are really excited and hopefully our fans and members are as well.
"It is a 2pm Saturday game against a traditional rival. It's a big game and it really means something. The stakes are significant. That's where our players want to be. They want to be tested, because that's where you get better.''
With fine conditions expected the MCG also expects a crowd in the mid-80,000s, although the ratio of walk-up ticket sales to members affects the money a club will take home.
"It depends upon the composition, but it's a strong return. It's a big return. But you budget for a very strong turn-up,'' Gale said.
The Tigers have just over 55,000 members, but Gale believes there are other benefits of a winning start.
Richmond stars Jack Riewoldt, Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin are all out of contract, and he says those types of players are buying into Richmond's story.
"I would like to think they can see what we are doing and what we are building. Those guys and all our players and the entire football club are on a journey and we have got a shared purpose. Clearly that's going to help everyone.''

Going to the game tomorrow with my eldest son who like me is a member. My 2 younger sons will be going as well but as they usually play suburban footy and rarely want to go to a game I haven't bought them memberships :-[ We usually sit near the grog squad. Will these be ticketed/reserved seats for this game or will you be able to just rock along (earlier this time) as we usually can when there are smaller crowds.
-
Travis Cloke just left training early with a dislocated finger. Nothing serious and the big twit is expected to play.

The mention of him training away from the main group in another article that OE posted was the first and only time I had heard of anything too. Just jumped on Bigfoolery where rumors are chucked around everywhere and there isn't even a peep.

I was at training this morning, and I can confirm that Jack, Chaplin and Pettard didn't join in with the main group, but just handballed among themselves on the sidelines. Not worried though, as it was a very short, light and low-key session as per usual for a day before the game.

Richmond now favourite to defeat Collingwood in Saturday's MCG blockbuster
By Nick Quinn
News Limited
April 19, 2013 4:10PM
Richmond are now favourites to beat Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday.
"After opening $2.30 on Monday, Richmond is now into $1.85 and it has been all one way traffic for the Tigers,” TAB’s Adam Hamilton said.
Collingwood, who opened at $1.65 is now out to $1.95.
“There is an injury cloud over Scott Pendlebury and Travis Cloke and if either of them were to not play Collingwood could start $2, which is staggering considering the history between the two teams.” Hamilton said.
One Sportsbet.com.au punter though has bucked the trend with a $30,000 wager on the Pies at $1.95.
Richmond is now into $15 in premiership betting with TAB after opening at $34.

Crazy. Punters riding a wave of media positive publicity. Madness to think we can be favourites given our recent history :banghead I don't mind if we deserve the favouritism based on comparitive form but when it is just another round of 'lift the Tigers high so we can then watch them fall' it starts to annoy me.
I'm expecting a good show by the Tigers but we have done very little to suggest should be at those odds imo

Tigers aiming to dry up any flood of Magpie goals
Jon Pierik
The Age
April 20, 2013
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick is confident his maturing team has the nous to prevent Collingwood from enjoying a run of goals when the two clubs clash in an MCG blockbuster on Saturday.
The Tigers conceded five goals in the opening seven minutes of the third term when the clubs last met, in round two last season. Three were kicked by Dale Thomas, as the Magpies went on to secure a gritty, 21-point win.
Unbeaten after three rounds this season, the Tigers were able to withstand a ferocious Carlton comeback in round one, and Hardwick has been happy with the way his team has controlled possession in wins over St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs.
While the Magpies are missing a handful of injured players, and had another scare at training on Friday when Travis Cloke dislocated a finger, the Tigers still face a major test of their composure. ''The one thing about our group, our leaders have certainly stood up and they know how to quell those momentum changes, so to speak,'' Hardwick said on Friday. ''It's an area of the game that we had to improve from the last year and this stage thus far, probably the Carlton game, you could look back and think we didn't handle it overly well, but we still managed to get the result.
''It's an area of the game we certainly have to work on, we certainly will be tested at that again this weekend against Collingwood and, hopefully, our boys have learnt the lessons.''
Hardwick continued to welcome the level of expectation at Punt Road, which has only heightened after the Tigers' best start to a season since 1995. However, they have not beaten the Magpies since round 19, 2007. Hardwick said the Magpies would provide another test of the progression each of his players has made. ''We think we've certainly got the ability to beat Collingwood, we've just got to make sure that happens on the day,'' he said.
To that end, the Tigers will need to win the battle of the midfield, an area Magpie Dane Swan, preparing for his 200th match, said would be pivotal.
Paying tribute to the influence best mates Chris Tarrant and Ben Johnson had had on his football career, Swan said he had an important role to play if the Magpies were to win. ''Their [Tigers'] midfield has been extremely damaging … They have got some very speedy good types in there so, for me, that's where I think the game will be won and lost,'' Swan said.
Hardwick said Jack Riewoldt would play despite speculation about his fitness.
The Magpies are confident Cloke will play despite his dislocating a finger.
''He popped his finger back in,'' Swan said.

MCG twitter saying only GA seating available is on the top deck at gates 4 & 5 that means top deck Great Southern Stand
Time to go special pre-match function today ;) ;D

Collingwood back into favouritism with the bookies:
Richmond $1.97
Coll'wood $1.85
https://www.tab.com.au/#!/vic/sports/betting/standard/AFL/AFL/Richmond-v-Collingwood/Head-To-Head
Don't mind us being the underdog.
-
Not long to go boys, huge game for us and we should win it with the injuries the pies have. :gotigers :gotigers
-
Keep it up Tiges!!!
-
Morris will miss a few. There goes our matchup for ballantyne
-
score update please. AFL site is dying here in NSW and match centre is not updating :banghead
-
We are up by 3 at halftime
-
Morris will miss a few. There goes our matchup for ballantyne
your probably right but stuff me. all he did was bump. why is it his fault if the opponent doesn't protect himself and instead tries to avoid the contact and leaves his head in the firing line?
girls game.
:chuck
-
Morris will miss a few. There goes our matchup for ballantyne
Yep, he didnt leave the ground though, that will help
-
doesnt matter. he hit his head and those that sit down to pee will want hem gone for it.
-
No good about Morris the, no injuries I hope??
How are we playing overall??
-
Morris will miss a few. There goes our matchup for ballantyne
If he gets any thing the whole system is stuffed. He did not break any rule, never left the ground, hit him in a fair shepherd with a fair shoulder.
-
We need to stop these poor turnovers in our back half or we will be severely punished. Kicking efficiency under pressure is the biggest test and we aren't doing too well so far.
-
No good about Morris the, no injuries I hope??
How are we playing overall??
Over doing the handball as normal. More control of the play than them but they are hurting us on the rebound. Sound familiar? And it will be a disgraceful indictment on the state of our great game if Morris even has a case to answer.

Thanks Smokey.. :thumbsup
It worries me that Daisy is still to come on, could be their weapon that seals the game.. :-\
-
From the vision I saw it looked like he hit him across the head with his shoulder, I agree that he shouldnt be punished really but he will be.
-
We are up by 3 at halftime
Thanks Matt :thumbsup
-
Rance is getting destroyed.... again. Need a change
-
Pies up by 10 points, Cloke has 4....not good enough.
-
Pies by 16, Cloke now has 5, stuff Damien make a change FFS!!!!!!
-
Pies by 22 now....fat lady up off the chair heading towards the stage...
-
Game is done and dusted. We've gone into our shells
-
Why TF was Tuck subbed????
-
Pies by 30 now......fat lady steps onto the stage.... :banghead
-
We have actually fallen to bits. Media hypes us up because we won 3 in a row against bottom 8 sides... Not much has changed since last year since we are just letting ourselves get blown out. Goal after goal and nothing is being done.
-
Pies by 42 stuffing points now....fat lady is handed the mike and she belts out the first chourus of "we wont be beaten"....... :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
One word. Pathetic.
-
49 points now......fat lady is singing the rafters down as another fat lady heads to the stage to join her, there maybe 3 if it gets into triple figures....
-
42 points down now....fat lady is still in full voice though.....second fat lady has sat down...
-
Sad but true, we have no plan B. :banghead
-
36 points down at 3 qtr time, must really play for some sort of respect now, need something to go away with for next week.....a win would be nice... :lol
-
on THREE occasions Houli being one sided resulted in horrible turnovers.
I knew he was one sided, i just didnt realise he absolutely refused point blank to put it on his right foot.
-
28 points down, that's better Tiges, if the wheels hadn't fallen off in the third... :-\
-
Humbled today.
-
Back to 36 points again...... :'(
-
Ellis been PATHETIC.
The experiment of using him as the sub must stop.
-
34 points down.
I can't comment on Ellis this week as I haven't seen the game..
-
All over 34 points...Now I really hate the Pies on the same level I do the Scum!!!!!!!
So why was Tuck subed??
Were there any injuries...
Let the fun and games begin.... :outtahere
-
I don't know if there are any other Inner Sanctum members here who attended the pre-match brief by Dimma. It is fair to say the players did everything but what the game plan was in that 3rd quarter! Atrocious, as improved as we may be, still some way to go in handling (and dishing out) the consistent pressure.
-
Yep. Humbled today. Disappointing that our guns didnt stand up on the big stage.
It's only one game though. It's important that we learn from it.
Out: Vickery, Ellis
In: Vlas, Elton

Found out a bit about our side today
-Petterd dropped 2 easy marks in the first half. Not sold on him and think he's extraordinarily lucky to already be a lock for our 22. Needs to earn his spot.
-Chris Knights missed 2 key shots at goal a player of his ability should nail, really poor and dissapointing
-Maric is having a poor start to the season, borderline shocker, doing some really dumb things
-Ellis was pretty poor, send him to coburg, u dont play the same player as suyb 3 weeks in a row, just stupid.
-Apart from the 1st qtr, pies were dictating terms and kept turning the screws eventually snapping us like a twig and tearing us apart in that 3rd qtr. We were really struggling to spread when we were coming out of defence after qtr time and looked clueless. No plan B?
-Tuck being subbed in the 3rd qtr??? wtf!? Maybe I missed something but he was more than pulling his weight, seemed like a crazy move.
Some were worried that our style of play is too uncontested, well today we were shown up by a much harder team. Pretty, free flowing football doesnt win finals. We need to find the balance between run and spread and contested hard football. We laid 2 tackles in about 25 minutes in the 3rd qtr, thats pathetic and synonymous with our mindset and style of play, you cant just stuff a switch. If you dont tackle much during games you always give opponents the opportunity to kick quick multiple goals, and its been consistently happening to us throughout our improvement. But yeah keep your heads in the sand its not an issue.
-
Outplayed today by a much more polished inside and outside midfield.
One team was going to take the game by the scruff of the neck and unfortunately it was the pies.
Rance had a stinker, but cloke also had a blinder. His contested mark count must have been through the roof.
Copped a lesson on how to use the overlapping player. Numerous times it was 2 on 1 in their favor on the wing.
too many fumbles also cost us.
Is Kingy ok? Saw him limp off in the last quarter?
-
^ agree ^

the mind set, competitiveness and performance or whatever you want to call was reminiscent of the 103 point loss to carlton in the 3rd quarter. I almost couldnt believe it was the same team in the 3rd quarter, completely crumbled under pressure.
rubbish hype, playing DJ with potbelliez, reading articles and open training sessions, looking at injury lists and cock pulling obviously got to them
Meanwhile in my reserved seat which I stuffing pay for I have maggots everywhere because dumbstuff richmond supporters let them use their memberships to get in and these ..... are gesturing actions towards their genitals at me when they hit the front and Im not just talking male supporters.
stuffing peeweak
heres my prediction for next week, ä noble loss by under 3 goals and the week after a "noble loss"by under 4 goals
stuff you sick of the stuffing rubbish performance, started well for 2 quarters, so stuffing finish the stuffing job you ....s whats the stuffing problem????
.....goes to mcg, spends money at club like every week on merchandise for the kids, sits through a rubbish performance, sits on train and stews about the loss, cant wait to get home to see family, comes home. Hi Kids we lossed but heres all these gifts I bought too bad the players were dancing to the sounds of the Potbelliez when they shouldve been stuffing playing football.....
Maybve next week instead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

more likely they are a better team than us, at this point in time.
for all the carry on, it was only one quarter, all be it a very bad quarter, that buried us.
it's been a long time since a richmond side has absorbed that sort of pressure for three quarters though. we just need to do it 4. today will be a big learning experience
-
We were out coached today.. They did their homework and we had no answer. They wanted it much more
I'm not going to blame the coaching today, I reckon the players were the guilty ones, starting with the leadership group. They dropped off in intensity, in application, in discipline and in heart, and they all need to put their ego's back in their lockers and concentrate on pride.

sok, the sun finds a way to shine on a black dogs ar-se for now. It will make their failures all that much sweeter to gloat at as they will inevitably come.

I thought when the game was there for the taking in the first quarter and we had the chance after the we kicked the first two goals we were like rabbits in the headlights. Even our elites like Lids and Cotch butchered the ball a few times and when Collingwood turned up the heat we were just not able to go with them.
I have had enough of Grigg and Houli no right foot and both boys just can't use it. No point having Grigg run to the right sport and then gives it up with helicopters to the opposition or up and unders or handbills to guys who are hot or miss easy shots on the run from 30.
As for Houli..... Footsteps footsteps footsteps.
I wonder how many flavour of the month RFC articles will be in the rags this week or whether the drummers will be back when the team runs out against Geelong.
RFC take note play footy get the players to concentrate on the footy no more interviews and and this and that and media friendliness. Just play footy boys. Embrace the pressure rather than bringing it on and then the genuine breakthrough win will come.
-
first off thanks heaps to the well wishers, pity the
boys couldn't sort out the party pies today, but we live
to fight another day...
well I must admit, I'm normally rabid at the game but today
I finally realised the sun will come up tomorrow.
first half wasteful, didn't take our opportunities.
3rd quarter as soon as donkey got onto a few they
went into their shells, disappointing to see but to me
not unexpected, we just aren't quite there yet.
last quarter back to 22 points tells me the boys had the fight
but not the ammo today...
what happened to our much vaunted midfield, got spanked.
no wholesale changes, some have credits.

Thought Dimma was out coached today and made some poor mistakes.
1. Chaplain onto Cloke earlier.
2. Cloke 1 on 1. Vickers doesn't do anything else why didn't he get back the in the 3rd quarter
3. Petterd as the loose man. Don't want to see this again.
Harry O was causing us so much damage until Jackson was moved onto him yet we had to deal with a stagnate Pettered.
On Grigg...
He is a dime a dozen footballer. What he brings to the table is nothing more than say anyone else could.
no right foot. It can be argued if he has a left one also.
No pressure acts. Not good overhead.
I hope Vlast can take his spot and send him back to Coburg.
I thought Ramps was spot on. Our list with the likes of Bacha, Grigg, Petterd will get us to bottom reaches of the 8 at best. We need more quality.

Lets be really honest as supporters - do any of us really believe in our hearts that Grigg, Houli, Petterd, Aaron Edwards, Chris Knights et al can take us anywhere beyond say 7th or 8th. We were deadset in the basement, Hartley has done a good job but the players brought to the club only have the capability of getting us out of the basement and to 7th or 8th at best. How can we win a flag with our list? Newman is getting on, Jackson is improved but? Morris is slowly being worked out by opposition clubs, Maric is our only ruckman, We dont have a monster back to take on the monster forwards. We need more class in the middle.
If we finish with 12 wins or 7th or 8th Id be doing handstands because thats the quality of our list. We need better players, we need better development and our coaches need to improve. Getting in players like Aaron Edwards, Stephenson, Knights, Petterd etc. that aint going to get us anywhere down the track because as we top up Collingwood and clubs like Collingwood are finding kids like Jamie Elliott and thats where you become a great club, by getting in quality kids developing them and making them stars. Just my opinion.
-
Well said Ramps and very true
Sometimes u get the feeling that's what we are playing for 6-8 then once we get there work it out
North Melb good example. Look at their list. 6-10 no better. Same old same old. We don't want to turn out like that. Need to play the kids IMO.
Do we really think that Vlast couldn't do a better job than say Grigg. Lets be honest he is very replaceable and i hope we do at some point in the coming months
-
last year I was being hammered in here when Grigg and Houli were putting in good performances and I was still critical. Both need to lift intensity. Truth is they are just good squad players in a successful team - not stars. On a good list they would be player 27 or 28 on a 30 man roster capable of doing something. In our team they seem to be picked in the top 10 players.
-
Collingwood played as a team
we played as individuals
end of story

Honestly Petterd spare man back tells me they dont know what there doing .
Really Petterd, his disposal is ordinary, when he gets it he either kicks down the line or gives it straight back to the opposition
And why wouldnt you after they kicked 3 quick goals after half time, stop the bleeding and put large numbers back?
Nah, not at punt rd.
Pies forward line was wide open for quick ball movement thus they kicked 8 goals in 16 mins.
:banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

The Maric /Hudson battle ?
-
We got caught ball watching, didn't attack the footy first and turned the ball over too much. Our tackles didn't stick either. Collingwood punished virtually every mistake we made. We were out coached. O'Brien destroyed us. Should have never been left unchecked. Need to win more contested footy and kick straight. Need also to learn to become better composed under pressure. On plus side we were not thrashed.
-
That's what I thought Eliminator, they got a bit shell shocked when the magpies nailed some easy goals and got caught ball watching. Was a bit sad. And allow O'Brien to constantly run the ball back from our fwd 50 made that prick look much better than he is.
-
So does anyone know why Tuck was subbed???
-
we safely assume the boys understand the plan, or did the pies not let the boys
play to the plan WP?
one quarter was all it took from where I sat.
First quarter in particular roger they followed things to the letter. The reason IMV we weren't further ahead was poor execution of skills at crucial stages.
Unfortunately one thing that we are very good at is defensive turnovers in our fwd 50, that is our Fwds creating turnovers in our FWD50 but yesterday as the game went on we didnt get that as from where I sat only Kingy & jack offered it for the entire game. Edwards tried but he was basically tagged out of contests.
The third was the one, pies got on top in the clearances easily. This wasn't helped by our guys not setting up at centre bounces the way they were instructed.
We wanted stoppages because up until yesterday we were 2nd in the comp in stoppages and the Pies were 9th or something like that. In the third that was the one thing stood out to me like beacon, no mid filed pressure meant no chance of stoppages
On o'Brien - clearly the 2 main people given the task of stopping him showed him no respect, hence he carved us up.
I find the comments about Petterd amusing, he's played spare man in defence the previous 2 weeks and there's been no complaints but we lose and it's suddenly a stupid move ;D
-
On Tuck, dunno but he was absolutely blown, his face was bright red and he was sucking in air like he had just run a marathon.
I think we looked a little flat after the bulldogs, might of over done it lol.

Re: Petterd.
What damage can be done against the Buldogs or Saints, lets be honest.
The fact it made it worse wasn't really Petterd's fault. Seeing his opposite number Harry o carve it up had me wondering why we had him play a loose man when he offers no run and carry.
I thought when we could've got 3/4 goals in front Harry O made the difference.
3/4 inside 50's, Cochin and Petterd none, IIRC but could be wrong.
Think he will be lucky to play next week. Batch is a far better option in the back half.
-

Thanks Owl, just seemed like a strange decision... :-\
-
We outscored them for 3 out of 4 quarters. We just need to understand (players and coaches) that against good sides pressure and commitment needs to be at the optimum level for the whole 100 minutes. Sides like Collingwood/Swans etc keep the screws on until they sense a breach and exploit it. It's called finals footy.
-
Think we should have double teamed cloke. He managed to get too many one on ones with Rance. Rance was caught behind and as a consequence easy mark for Cloke.
-
you play from behind to a superb mark like cloke you will get smacked
-
was a weird game, we looked at times as though we were going to blow it open with our rebound in the first two, missed too many easy shots again... just dunno we lost concentration in that third and then looked like stunned mullets for a bit... if they had of kept composure in the third. In a way this game was a bit of a pressure release for us, we didn't get smashed. We had some bs 50's against us, Jack got tackled without the ball in one incident which blew my mind, couldn't buy a free kick, there were plenty ignored, we had another blatant goal disallowed by the idiot review clown. I am not sweating it too much. We will run into some real form as the year goes on and will be cherry ripe to kick some arse.
-
our trend to switch right off for the best part of a quarter is a concern though.
we were lucky to have a big enough lead against Carlton and even against St kilda and the dogs we allowed the opposition to get a bit of a roll on at times. Against the lesser sides we are able to stem the flow and get a roll on ourselves, but we dont seem to be able to recover once we allow the good sides to get their tails up.
it was pleasing they were able to regroup at 3/4 time, but the damage was done. In saying that, we missed a goal at the end of the third and 2 early on in the last. Nail them and we were only 2 goals down with the best part of a quarter of footy left.
-
hate to say it ..but also think dimma and friends were outcoached yesterday
-
hate to say it ..but also think dimma and friends were outcoached yesterday
For 16 minutes or the whole game?
-
i see your point chuck...but i think pies stuck to their game plan the whole game and although we matched it at times we never overcame it
-
hate to say it ..but also think dimma and friends were outcoached yesterday
If we were out coached it's only because they had the players that could do the job they were instructed to do through experience, knowledge and being better. Dimma probably coached fine but our players could not execute their instructions and they let themselves down skill wise.
-
when that sort of rot sets in I dont think there is too much you can do from the coaches box. Its really up to the players on the ground the dig deep and show some mental fortitude. many of the players just had a stunned look on their face when the pies went rampant

This is a good post, And possibly close to the answer. I was never disappointed that we lost to a better team but the way in which we did and didnt stand up
-
Their forward structure appeared to work ours didn't. Alot of their goals were from leads. The decision to not penalize Swann in last quarter for holding the ball was atrocious. Very poor umpiring.

I would imagine then that Dimma would have being dirty that the guys didn't follow instructions in their set ups as discussed pre match.
thanks for your insight.

Where can I see the stats from specifically the third quarter.
-
hate to say it ..but also think dimma and friends were outcoached yesterday
Yep absolutely smashed in the box. We were beaten in every way IMO. You move on and as much as it hurts to say Collingwood were too good, that was simply the case.
We are a 8th-10th team in the comp and when a top 4 side turn it on we can't match them yet, especially when we don't play our best footy.
-
The fact it made it worse wasn't really Petterd's fault.
Just on the Harry O: Petterd was not one of the players who was supposed to lock him down and not allow him to sweep wide through the wing. That Harry O was allowed to do what he did yesterday is an indictment on those who were assigned to him not Petterd.
-
Lets be really honest as supporters - do any of us really believe in our hearts that Grigg, Houli, Petterd, Aaron Edwards, Chris Knights et al can take us anywhere beyond say 7th or 8th.
While I understand your point and think you've made it really well my take is that me of reasons we've recruited the players you mention is to enable us to get 6th-8th now, play finals while also allowing some of our kids time to develop rather than being thrown in the depend. Perhaps these foot soldiers as you call them are short term so the talent we have below can take us the next step when they are ready and locks to do so
Not saying it's the right way or the wrong way but just maybe another way. Look at Geelong, they blood kids when the kids are ready, physically developed and have a really solid understand of the gameplan and what's expected of them. They earn their games rather than being gifted.

Which is what I reckon we are starting to do with Vlas et al this season. First time under Hardwick's watch that we haven't played a number of kids straight up.
-
yeah leppa said that yesterday too. said that in any previous year he would be a walk up start.
he said it it is a good thing that you don't have to play your draft picks early on

Do you recall Geelong up to 2006? I recall everyone saying they were a team of one paced plodders, players like Corey, Bartel, Enright, Kelly were debated and offered up for trade with no takers ;D
Collingwood 2007-2009 were considered a team of soldiers but light on for top end class. Look at them now.
I don't think people realise how important it is to have a team full of reliablesoldiers, once you know you can rely on a consistent output from these types it enables the stars to really shine and in the process one or 2 of those soliders surprise and develop into stars themselves. Who would have picked Swan to be a star 5 years ago?? the guy was a spud. The geelong midfield was criticised for being slow and one dimensional, several years later they are one the great sides of all time.
For all the soldiers we're bringing in we are still not there yet, and still need to stock up on afl standard players..As well as theyve gone this season, when you have players like McGuane, jackson, Petterd King etc in your side you know you're still a little short on. Players like Conca, Ellis, Vlas, Helbig look like soldiers atm and thats what they should be striving for, but if they are developed correctly they can turn into legitimate very good AFL standard players.
We've done really well getting to where we are (from where we were) but if we continue bringing guys like Conca, Vlas, batch, Ellis and helbig through I have no doubt in 1-2 years we'll see the real benefit. Houli and Grigg have more ability than they are given credit for on these forums, but I do agree they both need to do more and get that element of downhill skiiing out of their system quick smart.

yeah leppa said that yesterday too. said that in any previous year he would be a walk up start.

This is absolute BS. I was worried when I heard this from the club.
Development always should continue. The better teams always develop a few new players every year. Look at Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn. You'd think those teams would be really hard to get into but hey, they always inject youth into their team so they learn to play with the better players around them. They learn where to run and how their team mates run. They get confidence and develop faster than in the crap VFL system. Last year Collingwood played Jamie Elliott. He hardly set the world on fire but they backed their judgement and this year he is a much improved player. Hawthorn played Hill last year and Anderson this year. Both will improve because playing next to Hodge a co. is better than the spuds at Box Hill. Geelong have also played youth despite having the best team of the last 6 years. Motlop and co. will be all the better playing with Selwood and co. than with other spuds in the VFL comp.
The recruiters have to back their judgement and keep playing kids. Vlastuin should have played before Knights. The latter is merely a back up for when an experienced guy gets injured. He shouldn't be there taking up a development position.
Even the top teams do it. Teams further down like us should be doing it even more. Forget about the finals; we want a premiership. Continue the process and the results will come automatically. Never think you are too good to continue developing youngsters!

In his 1st season Elliot didn't play until Round 9.
In his 1st season Hill played in Round 4 as a sub and then not again until Round 10.

Keep improving the list as we have with these types and keep drafting and developing good young talent that will hopefully turn into the stars. aka sydney's system :thumbsup It's served us really well over the past 3 years, why not keep going? If guys like Conca, Ellis, Vlas don't turn into elite or at least very good players then we need to look at why that is - Is it 1) Are we drafting the right kids? and 2) are we developing them as well as we could be?
I think we have the right blueprint, just a question of continuing to improve and get better in everything. Get better development coaches, get better recruiters, at least we have the foundations now of a proper functioning football department.

Motlop was injured which stopped them playing him. As you said Anderson is only out because he is injured. Collingwood played Dwyer on Saturday. Playing in front of 80,000 is an education you cannot get playing in the VFL. He has only played 3 games.
All I'm saying is that the club should be playing its best youngsters as much as it can. That includes Griffiths. I can't imagine them putting Tyrone down back as a defender and then dropping him after one game if he is beaten. That is hat they have effectively done with Ben. And I think Ben has a bigger upside to him than Tyrone, especially as a forward.

Dwyer is 26 years old and comes off a season with last year's VFL Premiership team. He doesn't need 'development' in the sense that kids do. Al and I were only talking about the benefit of not having to play the kids from Round 1 like we had been forced to do the past few season and how other top sides didn't do that (which was what Leppa was referring to), and I think I highlighted that with every example you quoted, even Anderson who is now injured after only 3 games. Play the youngsters yes, but not from season's start. Let's give them time to adapt to playing senior football at increased pressure/pace before chucking them in at the deep end - thats what the good sides do. And re: players like Griff etc, regardless of the armchair ride you might perceive others (Vickery) to have had, Griff could always do his cause the world of good by actually taking a game by the scruff of the neck at the lower level and being a very good, dominant player. That would be a fine way to stake his claim!

From Mark Robinson's "The Tackle" section in the Herald-Sun:
DISLIKES
7. Richmond
Might be annoyed because I picked them, but was more annoyed with the lack of defensive attitude, which I had been praising in recent weeks.
Maybe they're not good enough. Maybe the Magpies are very good, notwithstanding what happened against the Hawks. Tackling isn't everything, but laying just 33 is worrying.
In Adelaide, the Crows laid a all-time high 95. The Tiger faithful were saying a poor 20 minutes killed them. I disagree. It was a poor 120 minutes. They were lucky to be leading at half-time, were munched in the third, and pedestrian in the last.
Same old mistakes haunted the same old players: Jackson mistakes, Martin after half-time, Petterd inconsistent and overall, they couldn't run and carry through the middle - #realitycheck.

Jackson hack0la.
I must of mozzed him by saying he had shown improvement by playing/working within his own limitations and understanding what he/could not do.
I will next time keep quiet. ::)
