This year is also the first time in our history we've had two 80k+ H/A crowds in the one year.
I find the bottom stat interesting I would have thought in 1980 we would have had a couple of
big crowds.
-
Can we finish 2nd in total home and away crowds this year behind Collingwood?
There'll be 1 more 80k game (Dreamtime) and possibly 2 more if the Bombers and Blues aren't poo

Nope. I thought the exact same thing RD3 when I read that stat in the media article yesterday so I checked every season back to '67. It's correct. But what was interesting was seeing how much bigger we were than any other club, Collingwood included, until post 1982.

If we're contending in the next 5-10 years we'll be just behind Collingwood. Don't think we could get bigger, but I reckon we'd be comfortably the biggest right now if we had Collingwoods record over the last 30 years.

When we come out to play.
Eureka game was more big for them than for us.
We have round 1 and Dreamtime. They can play GWS in the WGAF Cup.

Once we finally become a consistant finals team and hopefuly emulate Geelong in their success then just watch us overtake the Pies too.
People can't resist the Tiger or the yellow & black colours or our theme song. The kids will be demanding a Richmond jumper.
....... and watch all those softie Whorethorn supporters that used to support the Tigers but had even softer cock parents that didnt make them stick fat, just watch 'em all come jumping back on board the Tiger train.
Bloody pee and poo wannabees! They make me sick!

How can Hawthorn have an average like that? They have played in Tassie twice so far?
They counting seagulls in the stadium also not paying patrons. :shh

Easy they've had games against Geelong (MCG), C'wood (MCG), Sydney (MCG GF replay) all big drawing games = total crowd numbers go up. The Geelong & Sydney games were home games for them with 60k+ crowds so that inflates their home crowd numbers
-
Bah I laugh at hawthorn and their skidmarks jumper designed by a bunch of carpet sailing dogs
-
Imagine our home crowd average if we'd played Doggies at MCG and Melbourne weren't the skidmark of the world. :shh
-
Imagine our home crowd average if we'd played Doggies at MCG and Melbourne weren't the skidmark of the world. :shh
Even if we play well have and have good attendances, they will eventually take a nose dive once we play at Cazzaly stadium as from memory capacity is less than 20k?? and the other poor turnout will be the GWS home game.
If we are finals bound this year? Then next year we will have a good shot at taking first place for attendances, no cairns game, would most likely play GC at metricon, Not have to play at Geelong and would hope to have a home game against GWS for once. Leaving a drop off in attendances being against the crap clubs inc the crap away teams.
Then again getting ahead of myself, but that is quite possible :shh

North and Hawthorn lose 5-10k average due to playing in tassie lol. Thank god we aren't in cairns after this year

serves them right like us for playing in woop woop ,for being money hungry.

Our home crowd average will dip in the second half of the year given we'll be playing 4 interstate sides (including one in 10k capacity Cairns) but right now our home crowds are 20,000 per game up on last year's average.
2012 41319 (11 games)

And all other games should be on at the same time too.
The footy records should be 20c. when you could look up the A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. J. K. R. S. on the score board to see what the other games scores were. Then you can check your record to see what team corresponds to the letter on the scoreboard.
And if you were really into it, like I was, I used to fill in the scores from the other games also.

Just shows why the AFL need the Big 4 up and about come finals time. Massive crowd figures if the 4 clubs make it.

The big 4 facing off against one another has produced over 80k every time :thumbsup

43,615 was a record home crowd for us against Adelaide and the 5th largest crowd ever for an Adelaide game in Melbourne.
Well done to us ;D :thumbsup.

Pretty ordinary crowd figure of 29k last night. You couldn't see the top tier on the tv but the 1st and 2nd levels looked half-full apart from the Tiger cheer squad end. For those that went what was the team-split? Didn't many Doggie fans turn up?

Seemed like everyone thought the game was a formality so they didn't bother turning up. It was our away game so a poor crowd reflects more on the Dogs.

FTA, cold night, Dumplands, FFC home game .. meh .. result at $1.10
Better off in the pub.

A Richmond game is a must go for me regardless.
I hate Wastelands but as a fan I am compelled to go and see the boys.
In the first half I sat second level Footscray end behind the goals and there were more tiger fans there. In the second half I moved to the Southern End second level and it was virtually 90% Tigers there. Dogs have struggled for crowds all year playing a big 4 Melbourne side helped boost their paltry supporter base who attend games.
At our home game at Wastelands earlier in the year we got around 45K.
Crowd tonight pretty much sums up the apathy of the Dogs, their fans and for us our hatred of having to go there in a game we are expected to win against a cellar dweller minnow club.
-
From the Bulldogs' BF forum:
"Also a crowd of 29,000 tonight. I reckon about 20,000 were Tiger fans. Shocking on our part at our home game."

Of the 52000 at the ground it looked like 40000 Tiges supporters.Anyone agree it was that one sided?

yep, there wouldn't have been more than 10k saints supporters max

I seen more British and Irish lions fans there than saints fans.

To the people that have given poo to me over the years about Richmond I have always told them that they shouldn't expect me to be a good sport and be polite when we're finally up again. To that they would then always give me more crap because they don't think it will ever happen. Can't wait to give it back in spades.

45,966 is a great turnout by Tiger supporters especially to an away game. Too bad for those that went that the team didn't turn up :P.

why do our supporters roll up and give their money to Norf. What a stuffen joke. I wouldnt give those bums 1 cent. The sooner Norf end up as the Tassie Kangaroos the better off everyone will be.

Felt like more than 40k there today. Surprised the crowd tally was less than even last year but the weather forecast must have put people who were planning to go off going :huh.
-
1:10pm on a Sunday does not help and neither does the forecast which predicted rain.
Had the game been scheduled at 3:15pm given that by then ppl may have has confidence in the weather and families may have had their late breaks or lunch we may have had another 5 to 10K rock up. Still given the only option to see a game in Melbourne this weekend was either St Kilda v Port or our game the crowd still fell well short of the 52K predicted during the week.
40K though at the G v Freo is still very good. :thumbsup

Maybe but maybe not for those that had a few too many ales the night before.
Sunday brunch was cancelled in my household and became Sunday dinner. Thankfully we won and I was more than happy to go out given the week I have in front of me at work.

No doubt it's still a good crowd Tucky and I'm guessing the biggest of the round. It would have just been nice to be nearer the 50k prediction so we could have told the AFL that all our home games should be at the 'G.

What was the crowd on Friday night?
Still 40k on a cold day was a good crowd against a low drawing interstate team that clogs the footy.
Given we got 43k last year on a Saturday arvo against Freo on a wet and cold day last year suggests to me the Sunday 1:10 PM time slot is one that the RFC faithful probably don't like.
I'll see the Tigers wherever and however but give me Sunday 3:15pm or twilight, Friday night or Saturday footy rather than the time slot we played at today.

Collingwood will move to Ararat to maintain their top of the town status
Pretty sure n0rf will have already tried claiming Ararat by then. Including the one in Turkey for good measure. They'll probably also raid the local Jordanian refugee camp for the next magic door success story and sell a few memberships.

And those figures are skewed against us because we had a home game in Cairns. Will be better again next season.
-
Dawks are soooooo full of poo.
Proof is that they are not a big four club and never will be a big four club.
Their home game against us and Punt road end looked empty. 60k+ and 70% of spectators were yellow & Black and they're on top of the ladder! What a bloody disgrace! Shouldn't be allowed to call the MCG their home ground! Bunch of imposters!
-
We need to lock in a deal with MCG that Punt Road end is ours, Home or Away
Pies have City end so if we play them no dramas
Blues, Hawks, Dons, Dees, GTFO of our end bros

I'd imagine that the Blues would be up there had they won a few more games this year so it just goes to show you that the big 4 are still the same clubs as the 70s.
I would've thought the AFL would love the original Big 4 Melbourne clubs, and one club from each of SA, WA, NSW and Qld each year in the finals to bankroll those poorer clubs to keep making up the numbers for broadcast rights :thumbsup

Agreed. Its our spiritual end. Punt Road end is synonymous with Richmond. We need to up the marketing side of it on our memberships and the like.
Dees should be pushed to the members wing. Dons to the sharps room. Blues to the car park with a box of coathangers.

the AFL should have kicked out some clubs years ago and thats why we have an unwieldly competition with an uneven fixture. If you asked them today if they could start the AFL again how they would do it and it would go something like this
1. Richmond
2. Collingwood
3. Carlton
4. Essendon
5. Geelong
6. Hawthorn
7. Sydney
8. Western Sydney Giants
9. Brisbane Lions
10. Gold Coast
11. Adelaide
12. Port Adelaide
13. West Coast Eagles
14. Fremantle
The player pool would be much better quality and the quality of footy higher still.

We've finished the season with a record home crowd average of 51,174 which beats the previous record set way back in 1980 (50,864). We're second in terms of both home and total crowds behind Collingwood.
With two rounds to go we should break the one million mark (currently on 969,997). It'll be only the second time we've reached one million during the H/A season only (Record is 1,023,821 set in 1998). Of course, we were the first club to crack one million in a season when finals crowds are included back in 1972.

Only 17,689 off reaching one million people through the gate. So we'll crack the million target easily this week :thumbsup.
To celebrate, the Club will select a lucky Tigers’ supporter to be its one millionth fan, as they walk through gates of the MCG to attend the game.
The randomly selected fan will win a prize pack featuring 2 x tickets to an AFL function at Richmond’s first final valued at $460pp, 2 x Richmond reserved seat memberships for 2014, and 2 x corporate dining packages for Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test Match at the MCG.

There will only be 80k because the blue pricks won't show up. People are forgetting that they didn't really make the finals.

SUNDAY'S elimination final between Richmond and Carlton at the MCG is the biggest week one crowd at a League final since 1972, when a top five was introduced.
A monster crowd of 94,690 crammed into the ground to watch Richmond's first final in 12 years against its bitter rival.
It eclipses the 91,900 who came to the 1972 qualifying final between Richmond and Collingwood at the MCG and the 90,370 who came to the 2011 elimination final between Carlton and Essendon.
It is also the biggest crowd to attend an AFL match in 2013.

The MCG capacity was close to 120,000 in 1972 with many more standing room tickets available. Due to seating changes and reduced standing room that is now 100,000.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a record that is hard to beat. Certainly from my vantage point I could not see a single seat that was empty in the ground and I have rarely seen that in many a year. The only thing I can think is if there were a few standing room tickets that weren't sold.
The atmosphere was certainly electric.

I was in n6 and it was great to see the green seats in the members all full.

Players salute Tiger Army

Monday, September 16, 2013
... the true force and impact of the Tiger Army, which made up the majority of the 94,690 fans at the MCG to witness the contest, was not lost to the players.
The likes of Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio, Brandon Ellis, Alex Rance and Bachar Houli described the feeling of emerging from the rooms for the start of the game, and the pulsating opening moments, in a special Roar Vision video this week.
Lids - “The hair on my arms were standing on end, and I couldn’t help but say to Jack (Riewoldt), ‘how good is this’!”
