Title: Retirements and delistings 2013
Post by: tiger101 on June 06, 2013, 08:08:56 PM
DEFENDER Marty Mattner, one of the Sydney Swans' most durable players, has been forced to retire immediately due to ongoing issues with his hips.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Swans from Adelaide ahead of the 2008 campaign, played 117 of a possible 119 games over five seasons with the club, including last year's premiership.

Crows Graham Johncock has also retired this week.

Quote
RETIRING Adelaide veteran Graham Johncock wasn’t able to continue playing or training at the highest level because his body was letting him down.

The defender-turned-forward said persistent back, ankle and knee injuries drained his confidence to such an extent that even if he had been offered a farewell game he wouldn't have been able to get through it.

If we do not chase these guns where will we be in a couple of years time, not making the finals again that's for sure, will be another 20 years until we make it again.

the bummers must have some free agents in sight, or they are in denial about the lost draft picks.

If they pay over for free agents, on top of goddard, their list management will get real tricky in a year or two

Or they are planning to trade into the first round by offering a "name" player eg Bellchambers or a package of players for an early pick.

Or if for example Crameri decides to take the big $$$ say the Bulldogs are offering the Bpmbers will want a first or 2nd round pick for him

Sadly and wrongly they are allowed to trade their way into the first two rounds of the draft

The question is are the new signing this trade/draft period going to be better than:

40   Williams, Cadeyn (R)
49   Verrier, Steven (R)
0   Simon, Gideon (R)
48   Darrou, Ben (R)
39   Derickx, Tom
45   O'Hanlon, Brett
22   Lonergan, Sam (R)

etc

forza Blair Hartley

To make up the numbers on the list then they need to get multiple draft picks for one player.

as it stands now they have to draft 4 players. if they trade off multiple players for one early draft then they have to draft 5 players.

unless they have a couple of rookies worth elevating, they will be going right to the bottom of the draft barrel.

With infractions still hanging over there heads they could be potentially trading "Damaged Goods" it's a big risk for any clud to take on s player who may have yo sit out for a couple of seasons!
Regardless of who they wanted to trade if they were at the club throughout the doping period then they would have next to no trade currency until there completely cleared by ASADA. I till then there screwed either way ;D

Jeremy Laidler has gone from Carlton.

Source: His twitter account.

Also on the AFL web-site

Carlton have cut 8 players so far including former Tiger Andy Collins
==============================================

JEREMY Laidler is seeking a new club after battling to get a senior game under Blues coach Mick Malthouse.

Laidler played just one game for the Blues under Malthouse, appearing in round two against Collingwood. He did not make it back into the senior team......

.....The club's football operations manager Andrew McKay said Laidler had made it clear what he wanted to do when he met with the club post-season.

"In Jeremy’s meeting he expressed that he would like to look for an opportunity at another club and we respect and support his decision to do so," McKay said.

Carlton also announced eight list changes on Tuesday.

It delisted Luke Mitchell, Patrick McCarthy, Marcus Davies and Aaron Joseph, while rookies Rhys O’Keefe, Fraser Dale and Andrew Collins will also depart."
