Benny Gale will be on SEN after 6pm.
-
Summary
* 42k in 2010 (actually had more in 2009 due to the Cuz aberration). Significant milestone but it's been building - 53k last year and now 60k.
* ME Bank Centre (look) polarised opinion. Important part of our offering as a football club - not only to players but to staff as well. Most important has been the upgrade of the oval. It was a cow paddock. Now players appreciate it as they can train and practice their structures etc on a proper surface.
* Being able to offer hope (eg: young group coming through) getting to the stage where it's important. Building up the financial muscle. We need to take the next step and Dimma hasn't shied away from playing finals this year. We are beating the sides around and below us this year which we didn't do last year. Now need to beat the sides above us.
* Impressed with Dusty's maturity and growth as a person. More consistent footy from him now. We'll pay the players what they are worth within the bounds of our salary cap.
* Wouldn't know about Mark Williams (regarding Melbourne job). Gale said he wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't chased after. We're pleased with what he's done at Richmond and he's focused 110% on the Tigers. We've incrementally improved year by year and we still have a way to go. We aren't surprised as we improve others will be interested in our people.
* Own VFL side is crucial. We couldn't afford it initially. As our financial standing improved we've now been able to do it. Doing the transition with dignity and that's important for Coburg as well. 2014 will be a big year.
* Composition of membership is varied. Guaranteed no pets are included in our tally lol. Ridgy didge 60k members. Other clubs sell memberships with a reserved seat so they may be down in numbers but revenue is strong. We accept everybody.
* More vigilant on who walks into the club and deals with the players. Regarding 'risk' the tone is set by the top (Board) and we make sure everything is done right throughout the Club from top to bottom.

Most important key to success at any organisation.

Will make a huge difference to our development week in week out imo. Also a great selling point for the club with two teams to follow at very close venues (Punt Rd & MCG). Probably been said before but the VFL team will not be wearing the Tiger Jumper. The players pushed that this be the case because they feel the Tiger jumper is an honour and privledge that is earned and having the VFL team wearing it too would send the wrong message.
-
what they going to wear fitzory jumpers?
-
Richmond central jumpers of course ;D
-
I always liked the white jumper with the yellow and black sash. If they dont do that they should go the reverse yellow jumper with black sash. Whatever they choose they shouldnt play in a training top. Make it a legitimate jumper of the Richmond FC and its reserve side.

No it hasn't, club haven't mentioned it publicly ;D ;D
But I did hear about it too a few weeks ago :rollin :rollin

What the stuff? Richmond VFL side with no Richmond jumper?? Better be the reverse colours! :shh

The reason I would go with the white jumper with the yellow & black sash is because the wankers at the AFL may one day force clubs to have away strips and then we could easily go for the reverse jumper - yellow jumper with black sash.

You raise a valid point, but I'm not a fan of white in the jumper . . . I guess anything is better than the garbage they have to wear at the moment.

What are some designs we could see?
Like the idea that the players think the Richmond jumper is a privledge to wear.
How about:
For HOME: NAB Cup YELLOW jumper with the swril of BLACK and Tiger and Black shorts.
For AWAY: NAB Cup BLACK jumper with the swirl of YELLOW and Tiger and White shorts.
I do hope we build some stands around Punt Road Oval.
Will there be coaches boxes?
Will there be a video screen?
Will there be player changing rooms that only VFL teams can use and not touch our ones!
:gotigers

Could stay yellow and black and instead of a sash use stripes?

Opposition change rooms will be in the jack Dyer stand
Jumper has been chosen. What it is who knows, will be announced shortly
Not sure if I totally agree with the reasons behind them wearing a different jumper. Aren't the boys that are going to be running around in the VFL members of the RFC, arent we 1 club?
Not sure this "divide" is the way to go but having said that it will be what it will be.
My preference would be the grey training jumper or a something similar
-
what they going to wear fitzory jumpers?
I reckon we'll wear our n00b jumpers like Essendon and Collingwood. Save some cash and just heat press the vfl logo onto the afl one
-
If the marketers are smart they will put them in something that will grab the kids and sell a squillion. One of those ones with claw marks or a big Tiger head on it.
I agree with WP though I think the idea of segregating the jumpers is a wank.

You have unusual ways of fantasising TBR :bow

:lol
-
what is this fashion week?
-
I agree with you WP - they are all one club after all but you can respect the players push I guess for players to have to earn their right to wear the jumper. Think they pinched the idea from the Aussie Cricket team and the baggy green. Newman the driving force behind the idea.

I know all that Stripes, heard it all the other week. Just not completely sold on the concept that's all

Either am I WP. Personally would prefer both sides to wear the same jumper.

prima dona big heads.
One club, one jumper. stuff em.
be funny if the punters liked the reserves jumper more and they sold more of them.
-
I'm permitting the club to use my Supercoach team guernsey. It is poo brown with a pale pink sash and faded yellow shorts. :cheers
-
Any guernsey with yellow and black as long as it's not made by abused workers in Bangladesh!
-
It should have a shark and a pterodactyl and a hyena on it fighting
-
;D

:lol
wow. 'pterodactyl' has a silent P at the front! holy heck!
-
Pteron, comes from ancient Greek for wing or feather, dunno if it is silent or not, maybe a Greek speaker can clear it up.
-
urinating in the sink has a silent P, too, lest the missus hears you.......
-
I take it that's knowledge gleaned from experience Al? :whistle
-
well sort of. Ive never been caught....
-
Personally, do not mind the differentiation between the AFL & VFL sides.
It sort of recognises the history of the true VFL era where the premiership teams maintain their relevance because the jumper & commercial logos reflected the times.
The VFL now represents something alien and an alternative jumper IMHO would not denegrate the VFL achievements.
It is reassuring that RFC has now finally begun to invest (draft, facilities and governance structure) in being a modern professional club and has adopted a mantra where the Richmond Football Club doesn’t just exist for the members, the club actually exists because of the members.
Eat 'em Alive.

While the mantra is right in that the Club exist because of its memebers, seriously how many times have we handed our hard earned to help them out
I have over the last few months questioned do they really understand what it truely means. Just feel they keeping putting the hand out and in return (excluding the on field stiff) we get less and less

I can understand where your are personally coming from there Bill as you tip in the coin for the membership level you choose / afford.
Perhaps the level of interaction and access to the playing group is not what is once was, or the giveaways not to previous standards, but it is the AFL and now a commodity where supporters are measured by how much monetary support can be harvested per membership unit.
I've chosen to keep the Rioli club just in case and invest more time & money at a local club level because IMHO that is where the real Football is played and club land has a real connection to community rather than a corporate product which promotes brands rather than people.
Plus I get to have a kick on the ground before, during and after the game with my son & daughter. :)
