RICHMOND
ON THE BLOCK: There is no block after a 121-point hammering of GWS. Statistically the Tigers' worst players were Nathan Foley, who was subbed on in the third quarter, and Dylan Grimes, but the ball wasn't exactly in his area all that often. There were no fresh injuries and Jack Riewoldt (knee) got through OK. Trent Cotchin was subbed off but coach Damien Hardwick said after the game it was just to give him a rest.
ON THE CUSP: Plenty. Chris Newman should return this week, while David Astbury and Luke McGuane are also likely to be available. Sam Lonergan has been bashing the door down for weeks and had another 28 disposals (13 contested) and eight clearances for Coburg yesterday. All of Shane Tuck, Robin Nahas, Matt McDonough, Matt Dea and Orren Stephenson are on stand-by if needed.
AL PATON'S FORECAST: Hard to see who comes out for Newman this week and Aaron Edwards put a down payment on the third tall forward spot with five goals against the Giants. This week's match will be bizarre, with the Tigers tuning up for finals and Essendon likely playing for nothing but pride - and Dustin Fletcher's club games record. A short injury list and strong reserves (see above) have the Tigers in a great position. The big question is who they will play in week one of September.

Give JR a rest and put big Griff into full forward!
-
Going into our first final who would be our first choice half back flankers?..surely houli has one all stitched up.the other one I see a bit up for grabs..Theres Vlas, newman, even conca and ellis...me I reckon stick with the man who is bringing new meaning to the term putting your head over the ball....Vlas
-
I can't see Pettard being dropped. He has a maniacal attack on the footy that Dimma loves....and rightfully so. Just a pity that his kicking let's him down a bit.
Titch out....Newman in.
-
a maniacal attack on the footy?
:lol
-
Yes I raised an eyebrow also to the term "maniacal attack on the footy"
However I dare not say anything for ,truth ,justice and the RFC way will no doubt be upheld by Bojangles.. :thumbsup
-
;D
-
In Tuck and Newman
Out Petterd and Edwards(suspended)
Ditto :thumbsup
-
Heard Newy's ankle was coming up pretty well until he hurt it again at training again late last week so probably won't play this week.
-
out foley
in anyone
-
If Ricky has " maniacal attack on the footy", Morris and Rance are kamikaze

RICHMOND - In the Mix
With one game to play before the Tigers' drought-breaking finals appearance, Chris Newman looks certain to return from a minor ankle injury. Coach Damien Hardwick will be looking to settle his 22 ahead of September and multiple changes are unlikely after a 121-point win over Greater Western Sydney. Midfielder Shane Tuck is waiting in the wings, as is small forward Robin Nahas, who has performed well at VFL level. Tall forward Luke McGuane is also hoping to regain his place but would have to force out Aaron Edwards, who booted five goals against the Giants. - Nathan Schmook

OUT:
Cotchin, Chaplin, Riewoldt, Maric, Rance, Deledio, Martin, Ellis, Vlastuin, Jackson, Foley, Vickery
IN:
Anyone playing at Coburg
-
I would put tucky in and give him a full game to assess his impact. Leave pettard in, wouldn't play Newy, imagine he plays against ESS then injures himself in a nothing games and can't get a finals gig....that would be a travesty.
plus put Griffo in at ff/chf, and rest jacky boy, BTW Cotch looks a bit proppy, is he OK?
-
Cotch is fine will need to carry our sorry arse team a lot regardless if he is fit or not

Coburg are on Mad Monday. Few hungover blokes running around. :cheers :cheers
-
If I was Newman there's no way I'd play this week and risk injury or if I did play it would be Grigg-like.
Actually I wouldn't be doing anything that could potentially jeopardize me playing finals for the first time.
P. S. ....still angry we lost to the scum. :banghead
-
On reflection 'maniacal' may have been a little over the top. ;D....but he does have a dip.
