The Barometer - Round 23Herald-Sun
Monday, August 26, 2013RICHMONDON THE BLOCK: There is no block after a 121-point hammering of GWS. Statistically the Tigers' worst players were Nathan Foley, who was subbed on in the third quarter, and Dylan Grimes, but the ball wasn't exactly in his area all that often. There were no fresh injuries and Jack Riewoldt (knee) got through OK. Trent Cotchin was subbed off but coach Damien Hardwick said after the game it was just to give him a rest.
ON THE CUSP: Plenty. Chris Newman should return this week, while David Astbury and Luke McGuane are also likely to be available. Sam Lonergan has been bashing the door down for weeks and had another 28 disposals (13 contested) and eight clearances for Coburg yesterday. All of Shane Tuck, Robin Nahas, Matt McDonough, Matt Dea and Orren Stephenson are on stand-by if needed.
AL PATON'S FORECAST: Hard to see who comes out for Newman this week and Aaron Edwards put a down payment on the third tall forward spot with five goals against the Giants. This week's match will be bizarre, with the Tigers tuning up for finals and Essendon likely playing for nothing but pride - and Dustin Fletcher's club games record. A short injury list and strong reserves (see above) have the Tigers in a great position. The big question is who they will play in week one of September.
