Yep it's that time of the year for the Yeah or Neah polls ;D.
First up is Matty Dea who is out of contract.
Matty played 3 AFL games in his fourth year to bring his total games tally to 24. He played one off games against Melbourne (R8 ), West Coast (R10) and North Melbourne (R15) with his best return being 16 disposals and 6 marks in our win over the Eagles in Perth. On the injury front he suffered a calf injury midseason and then a shoulder late in the year.

So do we hold onto Dea or trade him?
-
Probably time to let him go. Depends what's available to replace him (via draft or trade) but would think Batch and soon McIntosh will be in front of him
-
Keep for sure. He's alot better that Petterd.
-
Keep. He was a project and he's too good for VFL. Needs a string of AFL games to build confidence at the top level. Uses the footy well, is tough as nails, strong and a good athlete. Would be our cleanest player. However, doesn't back himself in to translate VFL form to AFL.
-
Dea along with griff and Elton just need to find the pill....These 3 in particular avoid it like the plague
-
Probably a sign that the list is improving, that he played less footy this year, rather than he took a step backwards. Hardwick likes him, I'd expect he'll stay.
-
Think they will try and trade him but I am not sure anyone would take him
Personally not sold, IMHO didn't show any improvement. He's one of those "betwixt and between" players too good for VFL but not good enough at AFL level
Reckon he is borderline, wouldn't be at all surprised if they de-list if they can't trade but wouldn't be shocked if they gave him another year and keep him for depth, back up
-
delist
-
keep. make or break next yr. would understand if they cut him though.
also it depends on how far into the draft they want to go 4picks is normal plus trade plus f/a we could be cutting at least 6 form the list proper
tuck, nahas, mcguane, derickx, plus two others theres a fair few in deas position to choose from.
-
Neah.
Trade/Delist!
-
Give him a real chance!

Yeah for me.
Interesting to read in last weeks Footy Record, Dylan Grimes has a player profile in there, and one of the question was 'Who do you think is the next big thing at your club?' Answer 'Matt Dea'
It's not the first time I've heard a player indorse Matty Dea, must show a fair bit at training. Just needs to transfer that into AFL footy.
-
Needs 8-10 games in the back line without being dropped

It's not the make a wish foundation. He needs to play well enough to stay in the backline for 8-10 games
-
Dee > pettard
-
Definitely at cross roads. Hasn't really shown much at the senior level although not given much of a chance this year. At real risk of being delisted.

Yes it is >:(
And if we can carry Newman, Petterd et al we can carry Dea in his place. End of story.
-
Dee > pettard
In size, that's about it.
-
Dea harder at the ball
-
Dea harder at the ball
Not to sure about that

Nothing surer. Petterd is a stuffing pansy and Dea is a fearless and hairy beast. Dea also doesn't barrack for the Nets or get peed on light beer at the cricket.

:lol
JT and Hully in good form ere, bruZ.

He can certainly play dea, there's plenty of clubs out there we here he would have played 22 games,no shame in not being able to break into our dream team defense. A keeper, the boy can play just quietly :shh

A dream team back six doesn't lose to a side that finished 9th mate.

They had 3 bad days at the office in 2013, all against Carlton

They had a shocker against Collingwood and Geelong for memory also.
I think you need to reclaim the tele and send the kids to the spare room to watch happy feet. :lol :rollin :lol

I thought our mids intensity was terrible that night. I thought our defence stood tall and prevented the game from being a total embarrassment. :thumbsup

Freo without Pavlich and Ballantyne. Have a look at Pav right now. Most dominant forward on the ground.
Wait your watching happy feat. Shame. ;D
All this says is that our defence is good but not great somewhere and hopefully natural progression and and possibly the development of acquirement of another KPP may improve us further. Given if we can improve our midfield pressure and intencity when we don't have the ball that will help also. Another couple of Vlaustins will be nice. Can we clone him? :shh
-
Is mattydea that far inferior to sutcliff, suban or spur? If Ross Lyon was coaching dea he'd be a gun :shh
-
medium defenders/flankers
morris - perfoms his shut down role well. his skillset is ordinary.
batchelor - slow, fumbles, an in betweener. not big enough for talls not quick clean enough for smalls.
newman - i know most on here have issues with him but. he has been a decent player. thing is hes 31 and showing signs that he should retire. have serious issues aboiut pace and his ability to lock down on smaller players.
mcintosh - imo has all the attributes to become a very good running defender in the birchall mould. tall, quick, good defensively both in the air and on the ground. has good foot skills.
petterd - just dont see it with him not in defense anyway. his skills are terrible. not sure he has the right mindset to be a good lock down defender.
verrier - a rookie a running polayer who cant kick bloody hell.
dea - big bodied runs straight lines has good disposal has defense mindset and has talent. just hasnt transfered that talent to the seniors yet.
we dont need more than 4 of this type. especially when theres houli a small defender, and the likes of vlastuin, conca, deledio, and ellis who can all play hb.
for me id keep mcintosh, morris, dea, plus one other but who.
-
Shocking disposal
bye.

Not sure, needs to make an impact at senior level, would have to be his last year this year if he doesn't produce the goods

Yep, otherwise - I'm afraid to say, we would need to Dea-list.
