He can certainly play dea, there's plenty of clubs out there we here he would have played 22 games,no shame in not being able to break into our dream team defense. A keeper, the boy can play just quietly :shh

A dream team back six doesn't lose to a side that finished 9th mate.
They had 3 bad days at the office in 2013, all against Carlton

They had a shocker against Collingwood and Geelong for memory also.
I think you need to reclaim the tele and send the kids to the spare room to watch happy feet. :lol :rollin :lol

I thought our mids intensity was terrible that night. I thought our defence stood tall and prevented the game from being a total embarrassment. :thumbsup

Freo without Pavlich and Ballantyne. Have a look at Pav right now. Most dominant forward on the ground.
Wait your watching happy feat. Shame. ;D

All this says is that our defence is good but not great somewhere and hopefully natural progression and and possibly the development of acquirement of another KPP may improve us further. Given if we can improve our midfield pressure and intencity when we don't have the ball that will help also. Another couple of Vlaustins will be nice. Can we clone him? :shh

Is mattydea that far inferior to sutcliff, suban or spur? If Ross Lyon was coaching dea he'd be a gun   :shh

medium defenders/flankers

morris - perfoms his shut down role well.  his skillset is ordinary.
batchelor - slow, fumbles, an in betweener. not big enough for talls not quick clean enough for smalls.
newman - i know most on here have issues with him but.  he has been a decent player. thing is hes 31 and showing signs that he should retire. have serious issues aboiut pace and his ability to lock down on smaller players.
mcintosh - imo has all the attributes to become a very good running defender in the birchall mould. tall, quick, good defensively both in the air and on the ground. has good foot skills.
petterd - just dont see it with him not in defense anyway. his skills are terrible. not sure he has the right mindset to be a good lock down defender.
verrier - a rookie a running polayer who cant kick bloody hell.
dea - big bodied runs straight lines has good disposal has defense mindset and has talent. just hasnt transfered that talent to the seniors yet.

we dont need more than 4 of this type.  especially when theres houli a small defender,  and the likes of vlastuin, conca, deledio, and ellis who can all play hb.
for me id keep mcintosh, morris, dea, plus one other but who.
