13th, 88.5% and now two games plus % outside of the Eight. No finals this year sadly :(.

We've rocketed up to 12th  ;D with a percentage of 102.8.

We can jump ahead Essendon is we beat them next week.

We're 13th after Carlton's win tonight. Any talk of finals is wishful thinking but having said that, if we win next week and the Eagles knock off North at Subiaco then incredibly we'll be only a game outside the Eight  :o.

If this was Round 22, we would be so happy that we pumped GWS by a pointless margin and cost ourselves 6 positions in the draft.

Going well this is, top 3 pick would be fantastic!!! :pray :pray :pray

We have absolutely NO chance of winning next week and that's good, hopefully other teams below us will notch up a few wins and get clear of us.

We shouldn't actually win another game for the year as I cant think of any team we are capable of beating at the moment!! :thumbsup

Pointless finishing bottom , why ?
* big deal we get first pick .one player isn't going to solve current problems
* memberships and fund raising will become increasing harder.not good
* getting free agents to a bottom club .well that won't happen

hey hey hey cmon jack at least we can be reasonably sure of geting the first pick right.

in all honesty ive been barracking for sides in and around us to win for ages now.. reckon essendon are far enough in front of us to stay in front so cmon the dees. top 3 pick would be great. seems even jackson struggles to get those ones wrong.

pick 21 and a sweetener  may be enough to get out of contract orourke if he chooses to come to us. go get him blair. but wait hes quality and blair has no interest in quality.

pretty hard to raid anyone when all and sundry are tied up on contracts.  have you seen those who are not signed up?  let the other clubs have em for a packet of crispy cremes  and a box of jaffas.

FINISHING dead set last is the way to go. Not in terms of getting the first pick in the national draft but getting the first pick in the PSD, and throwing the kitchen sink at Fyfe or someone of that quality and getting him for nothing.

Chance to bridge the % gap this week with a heavy loss and then have the Saints beat us at Etihad to leapfrog us. I reckon since they lost to Brissy in NZ they have put a circle around this game and have planned meticulously for it seeing it as their best chance to register a win.

Then a week later Brissy at the G. We could be 17th with a clash against GWS in August. Freefall. :help

Unfortunately the only place that makes a real difference is last (which I don't really want).

Why?

Because it gives the team finishing last a free swing at an uncontracted player through the PSD.

For example.  If we can offer Fyfe $900,000 a year and convince him to come (the hardest) we can make Freo bend over to minimal swaps because he can walk out for nothing and come to us.

Anything else but last doesn't have that power.

Not only that but having pick one offers a dilemma of using it as a powerful bargaining chip to attain a bona fide established player if given to the right club, ie Hawthorn with the Hodge/Croad deal. Might be able to use it on Adelaide for a Dangerfield looking to come back to Victoria possibly.

Personally I would take advantage of the currency we have created. We have never really had that before. Had players who are highly rated in AFL circles and can demand some decent concessions.

I'd go heavy for a pick in the top 3. Make sure we are playing our kids as much as we can. Waste of time Aaron Edwards, play McBean. Not ready? Don't care. Play them and if we win, great for development if not then great for draft picks. Anyone that thinks we can build a premiership list from any other way is crazy. We can have culture all you like but without a decent playing list you may as well be the Bulldogs.

I'd look at seriously trading our best players out for draft picks. Deledio could command easily 2 top 10 picks. Easily. Someone like a Collingwood or North would through kitchen sink at Lids. 2 draft picks in the top 10 as long as 1 was in the top 5 we can look at having 3 top 10 picks on our list next year. Lids is replaceable, as is Cotchin and Riewoldt. Need to do something ruthless, being safe hasn't worked for 30 years. I'd keep our backline in tact with Rance, Grimes and Astbury and build around them.

There is no easy way of building a list, we've stuffed it up with recycled rubbish. Understand the new franchises had monopolies on the drafts but clubs like Port found a way.

whats the point of being the best team outside the eight when your team is full of experienced hacks and players from other clubs. it doesnt matter if they are the best team outside the eight, they never gonna achieve anything, its a road to nowhere.

Even Sydney in Sydney in round 23 Stripes? ;D
FFS we are the best team outside the top 8. ;D

We're playing them at ANZ stadium so stranger things have happened Don. As to being the best team outside the 8  :yep  :shh

whats the point of being the best team outside the eight when your team is full of experienced hacks and players from other clubs. it doesnt matter if they are the best team outside the eight, they never gonna achieve anything, its a road to nowhere.
never fear. we are not the best side outside the 8.  at 12th on the ladder we are higher than what we really should be,

ffs our wins this yr should tell us exactly where we are at.
fell over to 13th carlton the better side lost.
belted gws who are 15th.
defeated the lions twice who are 17th
defeated stkilda who are 18th.
if that sort of trend continues on the run home we will only defeat gws  stkilda and possibly wce but that one is in the west and is very much a 50/50 if not 40/60 game.

of those sides i dont think we are better than carlton and most certainly in the long term are miles behind gws. imo our true position is 15 thru 18. a bottom 4 side.

best side outside the 8 hilarious. we still have blinkers on seems some are beliving the clubs spin of being better than we have performed.

Disagree on Carlton. They'll be hoping the old blokes hang on forever because they're some of their best players. Eg Judd and Simpson. Meanwhile we will be hoping our old blokes stuff off because well they're poo.
