Jake Batchelor 1
Had a dirty day. Substituted out of the game in the third term with just one kick and one handball to his name. Played on a variety of opponents including Angus Monfries and Jake Neade and had almost no impact.
Troy Chaplin 3
A tough day at the office against his former team. Spent the majority of the game on former teammate Justin Westhoff, who had 18 of his 21 possessions and kicked both of his goals on Chaplin.
Reece Conca 5
Tried hard all day and at least gave Richmond some drive, finishing with a team-high five inside 50s. Kicked Richmond's first goal after Port had kicked the first seven.
Trent Cotchin 4
The Tigers skipper never gave up but he well and truly lowered his colours to Port stopper Kane Cornes. Cotchin finished with 16 possessions and a team-high six clearances, but his frustration at his inability to break Cornes' tag boiled over late in the game when he gave away an undisciplined free kick.
Brett Deledio 6
The vice-captain kept fighting to the final siren and was one of the Tigers' better performers. He had an equal team-high 29 possessions, but did not have anywhere near his usual influence.
Shane Edwards 3
Edwards had an outstanding 2014 season but ended it with a lacklustre performance against the Power. Struggled to have an influence in the midfield or on the forward line, but kicked a consolation goal in the dying minutes of the game.
Brandon Ellis 4
Struggled to get into the game early, but kept plugging away to finish with 20 possessions. Had four rebound 50s, but did not give the Tigers his usual damaging counter-attack.
Nathan Foley 4
The Tiger speedster played just 55 per cent of the match after suffering a nose injury. In that time he had 11 possessions and two inside 50s, but little influence.
Nathan Gordon 5
Kicked two goals in the second half when the game was over, but was a credible performer given how tough life was in the Richmond forward 50. Took six marks and had four inside 50s.
Ben Griffiths 4
Largely ineffective, the big man was unable to give the Tigers the secondary target they needed in attack. Kicked a consolation goal in the dying seconds of the game, but well beaten by Jackson Trengove.
Shaun Grigg 4
Spent time on Travis Boak but could not curb the Port skipper's influence. Did better when opposed to Chad Wingard and kicked a second-quarter goal. Finished with 20 possessions.
Dylan Grimes 5
Battled hard against the odds and conceded just one goal to his direct opponents, who included Hamish Hartlett, Jake Neade and Chad Wingard. Had 17 possessions and took eight marks.
Bachar Houli 6
Tried valiantly to stop the avalanche in the first term across half-back, and took the game on when the Tigers needed some run. Finished with 27 possessions and did not concede a goal against a range of direct opponents.
Ivan Maric 6
Won the ruck battle with Matthew Lobbe, finishing with 11 possessions and four marks to the Port player's five possessions and one mark. Also kicked a second-quarter goal.
Dustin Martin 5
This might seem a tough mark given Martin had an equal team-high 29 possessions, but the star Tiger had little influence on the game. Had four inside 50s and one goal assist.
Anthony Miles 5
Miles was one of the Tigers' better players, but was powerless to stop the Power's midfield dominance. He capped off an excellent first season at Punt Road with 24 possessions and four clearances.
Steven Morris 4
A typically hard-nosed performance but, like most of the Richmond defenders, struggled under the weight of Power inside 50s. Spent time on Jake Neade, Chad Wingard and Robbie Gray.
Chris Newman 4
Struggled under the weight of forward 50 entries Port gave its forwards. Played on opponents including Angus Monfries, Jake Neade and Matt White and conceded four goals.
Ricky Petterd 3
Started as the Tigers' substitute and replaced Jake Batchelor midway through the third term. Toiled hard in defence and had three rebound 50s.
Alex Rance 7
One of the few Tigers who could hold his head high. Given Port's dominance, keeping Schulz to two goals was a highly credible performance, while he also had 17 possessions and took seven marks.
Jack Riewoldt 6
All of his three goals came after half-time when the game was already over, but the fact Riewoldt never stopped trying was a tick in itself. A tough day at the office given he had Alipate Carlile by his side and poor delivery most of the day.
Nick Vlastuin 4
A learning experience for the young Tiger who finished with a disposal efficiency rate of 46 per cent. His second-quarter turnover set up an Angus Monfries goal after half-time siren.

Take two of each player to make it more realistic
-
Finals footy is what's it's all about. Reputations are won or lost in these games.
Rance is the ONLY player that hasn't done damage to his rep today.
The rest of them need to take a long hard look at themselves.
SOFT!

Thought Miles, Lids and Maric were at least OK
-
Ben Griffiths 10
Largely ineffective, the big man was unable to give the Tigers the secondary target they needed in attack. But kicked a consolation goal in the dying seconds of the game with his massive kick so deserves a 10

I have to admit I was more than a little peeved at many of our players today.I single out our leaders to begin with. When the game was fast slipping away in the 1st quarter, they failed to respond.I take aim at Ivan, cotch, lids, newman, jack. At that point in the game if they took a stand the rest would have responded and just maybe they could have arrested that onslaught. In the 3rd quarter when the fat lady had already sung,we see players like Lids and later in the game junktime jack respond....too little too late fellas

"Tried valiantly to stop the avalanche in the first term across half-back, and took the game on when the Tigers needed some run. Tried his guts out. Thought Edwards played okay.
-
Thought Houli was easily our best
Ran his guts out to try and supply rebound
Martins turnovers were terrible in the first 10 minutes which resulted in easy goals to Port
Forget about how many possessions they get

Can't include Ivan in that list of leaders to be critical of
First half he was the only one who showed any leadership ... he chased blokes the little one he shouldn't have to. He is a ruckman not a mid fielder
Was the only leader we had....
The rest of them were deplorable
When I have the courage I will watch the replay and see how it shows up on the TV but at the game thought he was very good

Actual felt for Bachar, first qtr rebounding through the western wing, taking the game on, bounces the ball and it went the other way...thought to myself "it's going to be one of those days" ;D
-
We just knew when the ball bounced the opposite way and Martins turnovers in the corridor it was going to be a long long day
It was
-
yeah Martin was gettin mugged, it was 3 to 1 in most contests and we had nothing. We looked flat, tired and disinterested.

Chaplin is fine when the coach does his job.
hard to argue with the raw data

martin was looking especially slow

Agree with both of these comments - IMHO Bachar one of if not our best - kept running and trying (at least thats how it looked on the telly).
WP you are right with that bounce....how unlucky...even in the first few minutes- ball went to go out of bounds...hits its point comes back into play to their advantage....was never going to be our day...the previous 9 elimination "finals" finally took their toll.
-
Maric and Rance won their contests.
Jack didn't stop trying. Nor did Miles or Gordon.
Newman omg why does he want to keep playing?
-
Bachar was a complete panick merchant in that first quarter. Squib efforts from guys like him and Martin cost us dearly.
Yeah he kept trying to run all day. Still average game for a player who can do so much better.
-
Houli's disposal which is usually his strong point was poor. He got a lot of the ball but either turned it over or didn't kick to advantage. He can do much better than that. Really disappointing.

I'll watch the replay later this week but from my impressions from watching it at Punt Rd yesterday I didn't think Lids was horrible. I think the issue is he was where the ball aint/wasn't instructed to play on ball for the first half. Against a team like Port he should've been been the release player for Cotch and Miles at every stoppage as opposed to Ellis

Thought Jack did try and stand up in that first quarter, came down and layed a very strong tackle at a stage where it looked like we wer never going to lay one

Lids was one of our best and once he was belatedly moved into the midfield he became one of our few winners. I like him playing at HF along with martin deeper but yesterday against an A grade midfield we needed our bluechip talent in the tranches - not to mention that Deledio historically plays big games against Port
-
Agree Lids played well once placed in the midfield. Jack's tackle on Cornes in the second quarter was literally the first tackle that stuck.
-
Anyone else notice newmans voice during the pre game warm up.
Sounded like he was pooting himself.
No focus and lot's of uncertainty in his voice.
That's worth another year.
-
Was most disappointed in Cotch and Dustin. Two of our best players and had no impact. Dustin was really poor early with his decisions and execution.
Thought Myles, Rance, Jack, Houli and Maric were our only decent players. Rest were ass.

My bad, I always misspell Milesy's name.
Yeah Lids could be thrown in there too.
Bachar made a couple of mistakes but he got 25+ touches, had no goals kicked on him and was one of the few who actually tried to get us going.
-
Reckon Bachar was made to look a lot worse by the lack of effort from his team mates (apart from that bounce :lol)and if they actually turned up we'd be talking about how well he played and the drive he gave us
-
yep
