From The Age
Adelaide has sacked coach Brenton Sanderson, nine months after extending his contract for two seasons.
The Crows confirmed on Wednesday night that the club and its third-year coach had "agreed to part ways."
The club, which appointed new chief executive Andrew Fagan earlier this week, said the decision followed an extensive review of the club's football operations run by chairman Rob Chapman, directors Andrew Payze and Mark Ricciuto, head of football David Noble and Sanderson.
It said in a statement it would now embark on a "nationwide search" for a new senior coach, with former captain Simon Goodwin likely to be among the leading contenders.
Sanderson took the Crows to a preliminary final in his first year, 2012, but has not been able to steer the team back to the finals since.
In his time, the club was stripped of its first round draft picks for two years because of its illegal dealings with former forward Kurt Tippett. It also had to cope without star forward Taylor Walker for 12 months after he badly injured his knee.
"Brenton is a quality person and accomplished coach, but recent weeks have unearthed a need for change," Chapman said in a statement.
"Both parties have realised they have different perspectives on where we are at as a footy team.
"It is a tough decision but one the Club feels pushes us closer to realising our ambitions.
"We would like to thank Brenton for his contribution and wish him every success."

Another club with high standards and expectations, prepared to be ruthless.
But that's ok - at least we finally have "stability". Yep RFC - now stable in it's mediocrity....

yep
they either have bomber on the radar or they want Goodwin before he signs on as melbournes senior coach in waiting..
actually if I was bomber id be waiting for the suns to sack bluey - what he would do with that list...
-
Couple of SA journos suggesting the senior players had a fair bit to do with the sacking along with Ricciuto. Said senior players had a sook to the Chairman
Always great to the see the "tail wagging the dog"
Not sure that's a sign of high standards and ruthlessness ;D
Same journo's suggesting Goodwin is their man
Will be a presser tomorrow morning where Sanderson will attend

isn't that what newman and a few others did with Leather face.
wont happen at Richmond because Hardwick is best friends with all of them. True friends till the very end.

Channel Seven's Tom Browne reported that Simon Goodwin met with the Melbourne Board on Monday.
It seems that was one of the reasons Sanderson was sacked and now Goodwin is favourite to replace him at the Crows.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been revealed that the Adelaide Leadership group were a main reason behind Brenton Sanderson's sacking.
The leadership approached the Adelaide board shortly after the best and fairest, and voiced concern about the clubs direction, in particularly under Sanderson.
It's understood that Patrick Dangerfield's opinion was strongly taken into consideration, with thoughts the 2015 restricted free agent had sourced offers via his management about a move to a Victorian club either in this trade period, or via free agency next year.
With the Crows keen to extend Dangerfield's contract beyond next year, the removal of Sanderson as coach is said to be a "step in the right direction" to Dangerfield remaining at West Lakes.

Yes but don't forget that when they first tried, he wasn't sacked; Club refused to do it, wouldn't let the players dictate.
Granted Wallace went a number of weeks later but that was board driven not player driven - big difference IMHO
So in the RFC situation the tail didn't wag the dog like it seems to have happened in Adel. Even Gerrard on 360 (who broke the story btw) said he had spoken to a couple of players who admitted they had gone to the Chairman

are you kidding? you think senior players like Richo, johnson, newman and co had nothing do with Wallace going.
Come on WP your better than that

Did you actually read what I wrote or did you just skim over it like you sometimes have a tendency to do ::)
But will go through it all again
Pay attention to the timeline
Who could forget, all went down a few streets away from where I work in Port Melb, Hutchy was camped outside Gary March's office at the time.
Players went to the president, mutiny was supposedly on, Hutchy went on KB's show on SEN and said Wallace would be sacked later that morning
Fact is he was not sacked, players were put back in there box and told he wouldn't be sacked.
Craig Cameron fronted the media by the Dyer Statue and said Wallace was still coach.....and wasnt' being sacked
That is what happened, tail was not allowed to wag the dog....that was my point. Players wanted him gone but they didn't get their way... can I make it any clearer for you
Hutch was made to look like a goose which was an added bonus I thought
Later that season Wallace was sacked after a recommendation at board level.
That is what happened, did the players failed mutiny impact on the final decision made by the board? Prossibly but at the time the of the player led mutiny it was scuttled and the board didn't bow to the demands of the players

Addendum; end of conversation
-
i read exactly what you said and you are letting yourself down again.
The players played a big part in leather face being sacked. You can write up whatever story you want but their voice was finally heard.
Initially, no maybe your right they didn't make their move, but their voices became louder and finally the board listened. Richo Newman etc were a massive part of Wallace getting the arse, just like over in Adelaide.
-
Sanderson's failure to communicate led to sacking: Crows boss
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-09-18/communication-breakdown
The Crows have missed out on Goodwin if that was their plan. Will they now go after Bomber Thompson?

Whatever!
Can tell you the players were not biggest voice heard in the decision a certain director was
And don't throw Richo in the mix. He didn't lead the scuttled mutiny
But as I said whatever ;D

Essendon's Mark Thompson has ruled himself out of the Adelaide coaching Position.
Bomber Thompson said:
"No, I'm not interested"
"I wouldn't go there, especially now"

What a Phil Narkle ...
"But when Goodwin’s close friend and Crows director Mark Ricciuto made contact with Goodwin last night after Sanderson’s sacking was made public, Goodwin told him he was already committed to the Demons".
Ooooppps - Plan B ?

You know you could of just said that last bit and it would of answered his (justified) question but as you say, whatever
