There's no ceiling on Tigers in 2015: Hardwick

DAMIEN Hardwick has "absolute faith" in Richmond's playing group delivering success and has put "no ceiling" on what the club can achieve in 2015.
Entering his sixth season at the helm, Hardwick is still searching for his first September triumph after two fruitless finals campaigns in succession.
But the senior coach believes the Tigers' maturity and experience has them well positioned to have a big impact at the business end of this season.
"I think our players are probably in as good condition and as good form as I've seen since I've been here," Hardwick said during the club's season launch at the Regent Theatre's Plaza Ballroom on Thursday night.
"So it's really exciting for us as a footy club to see how far they've progressed. The maturity of our group now has come a long way.
"The guys have got an enormous opportunity this year. We think we're a chance; there's no ceiling on how we're going to perform.
"But more importantly I've got absolute faith in this group to take us where we need to go."
Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said the club had "come a long way" in the past five years and echoed club legend Kevin Bartlett's call to the playing group to "dream big" and seize their opportunities.
The Tigers open the season on April 2 against arch-rivals Carlton at the MCG, with president Peggy O'Neal hailing the club's return to their "rightful place in the fixture" in the club's 130th year.
Entering his third year as skipper, Trent Cotchin was confident the club had learnt plenty from its disastrous start to 2014.
The star midfielder said Richmond took a step back when it started 3-10 last year, but "bigger steps forward" after its subsequent nine-game winning streak to reach finals.
The three-time best and fairest said higher standards were now demanded at Punt Road during training and on game day.
"There certainly is and I think that comes with the maturity of the group," Cotchin said.
"We've come a long way and we've been together now for quite some years with the addition of some young talent as well.
"But the challenge is to keep on improving and definitely (to have) more control out on field.
"We want to win a final but the reality is there's a lot of hard work to be done prior to that.
"Most importantly is next Thursday night at the 'G against a team we've had a great contest with over the last six or seven years."

I thought we were just happy with winning 1 final? What's changed?
-
Well looks like Hardwick has sealed his own fate either way, if we don't do well then he has absolutely no excuses, of course if we perform as he expects then he will be around for some time to come.

It's really a case of 2015 flag or FHO!!!!
I expect the noose to surface in round 15.

Expectations on Dimma are to win a final. If we don't he's in trouble no doubt..however if we do, why can't we win another couple?
He might as well shoot for the sky, if we fall short so be it but i want us to be aspirational as a club. One finals win is not the goal this year, a flag is.

Their aiming for an elimination final win, nothing more

So what is our pass mark? There's been a suggestion of three from the club:-
1) win a final
2) everything is aligning to do better (as per above)
3) the article released by the club at the start of March to put on the record our weaknesses and open the door to not hitting our pass mark, saying we are still the 9th youngest list amongst other things.
-
I'm waiting for them to say we are the 18th youngest list! :whistle
-
If we play at Etihad with the roof closed........ :huh

3/ what a nonsense this statement is. compare the the premiers hawthorn to the rfc when it comes to age and experience.
hawks 24yrs and 82 days with 74 being the average number of games played.
tiges 23 yrs and 309 days with 63 being the average number of games played per player.
so in effect hawthorn have a list that has played just 11 games per player more than us and are only 3.37 days per player older.
we can talk age and experience all day but the real key is the quality of player you have on the list.hawthorn clearly have more quality players than us.
whats the point of having a young player on the list if he cant play at the level and doesnt look likely to. yep great he makes your list look young but it means jack poo if he cant play.
what im saying is its not about the age and experience of your over all list junior and development players are just that, junior and development players. go look at the age and experience of hawthorns premiership side and while at it the overall depth and quality of it. they averaged 26yrs plus and 138 games in the gf . their better players are their more experienced players their kids and development players ATM HAVE LITTLE INFLUENCE ON THEIR PERFORMANCES IN THE SHORT TERM.
how do the hawks best 25 30 players stack up against ours and all other teams for that matter.CITING YOUTH IS A COP OUT. I have one question for the club. if we are talking youth or juniors are they going to be good enough. Are any making an impact.
its plain wrong to just say oh we have the 9th youngest list we have the 7th most experienced as far as gam,es played goes.

Ah, no, average 129 days per player older. Not saying it matters but if you want to base your argument on stats and facts then use correct ones.

yeah apologies for some reason i took the difference and divided it by 44.if my maths dont fail me again the average is actually 138 days per player not that it matters as you say.
