Title: The Claw Appreciation Thread
Post by: Francois Jackson on June 03, 2016, 10:21:25 PM
As the title suggests this bloke has been right since day1.

Some of are get fooled into a false sense after repeat finals appearances by this rabble of an organisation, but the Claw knew best.

Most times he nails it.

I have always agreed with Claw except when he's wrong ie his recent post about Hamspud
as far as list management is concerned I'd give him a job over that port sissy any day of week

This performance is out of character, we've just beaten Freo in the toughest road trip in the AFL and on the big stage knocked off the Dons.

We'll be back on track next week managing to scrap a win against the mighty Gold Coast

And the bandwagon will be full again when we put the cue in the rack at 1/4 time against Brisbane with a 2 goal 5 behind lead, then have to pull the cue back out when Brisbane won't go away and we scrape home with a gutsy 13 point win.

Oh PLEASE !!!!! Somebody shoot me now.

The great oracle Claw has predicted in the past .

Dual All Australian Alex Rance would never make it.

We would be 1-9 this year

We would be bottom 4 in 2014 and 2015

Melbourne would finish above Richmond in 2015.

I predict that one day Hawthorn will eventually miss the finals .
I also predict that my son definitely  wont eat his vegetables tonight.
Star Wars episode 8 will probably suck and that in two days time it will be a Monday.

I think claws main point has been our list is middling in talent.  Some club official said as much the other week. Guys like Chapman have served us ok but he's old and was never quick. Guys like Matt Thomas served us well and got us to finals but took games from kids like c ellis. We are where we are and to improve our talent levels have to rise. Whether it's through getting ready made a graders like yarran on the park or games into rioli types and finding more of them we are a middling list.

Thomarse got us to finals?

We played finals that year he played 15 games so yes he was a part of it. He was that big bodied blocker in the midfield that a young c ellis or who ever wouldn't have been.  Just like Jackson really not necessarily great players but competitors
.

Did Matt Thomas retire or was it forced retirement ?

Matt Thomas > Townsend and Moore combined.

Most things i can put up with but stuff wits who tell half truths i wont tolerate. You sir are a stuff wit. Lets see here.

After 4 yrs of being very ordinary yes i called alex rance out he was very ordinary. Yes he has gone on to be a fairly decent player  BUT I DONT RECALL EVER SAYING HE WONT MAKE IT. I did get to the point where i would have traded him so freakin shoot me.
I would voice the same opinion again if he was new to the club and  played the same way in his first 4 seasons He was poor and this is a bloke i strongly advocate we take in his draft year.
Are people really going to sit there and tell me he was good in his first 4 seasons. He struggled one v one, used the ball like it was soap, fell over so often it was hilarious and constantly found himself out of position not knowing the right time to run off and when to stay and defend. His first 4 seasons were not great  and i for one at least pointed out what was wrong with his game.
It seems the myth of Rance is he was always a great player, i wonder where you lovers of him were in his draft year.Boy lets not be critical of favorite sons eh.

Was it 1 and 9 or 1 and 6. Does it really matter what have we beaten.fmd it was a prediction, if i could predict the future i would be the most valuable commodity on the planet. Anyway 1 and 9 is not really that  not far off. WE have beaten  Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle and sydney. That is last years wooden spooners, this years wooden spooners, A team that was predicted to be spooners because of sanctions Finally Sydney a team we have regularly beaten who we match up well against and who like us was injury riddled and we won with a kick after the siren Yeah go ahead and hang your hat on that you muppet.

Melbourne was a tad early im asking do you disagree that they have flown past us albeit a bit later than i jokingly predicted.  But wait im nosradamus and as such can not get it wrong . WHAT A FREAKIN MUPPET.

Like everyone when it comes to players i will get my fair share wrong. When it comes to most other things all i can say is you should pull your muppet head in and show some appreciation. :whistle

There's no myth that Rance was always a good player. ( except maybe in your head )

I wasn't impressed at all initially. Thought he was a dumb player.

Then I remember his " break through " match - dreamtime 2011.  Have been a huge fan ever since.

he is the premier defender in the comp and some

if you dont appreciate Claw then go join the mardi gras thread with Chuck, Hartley and Francis Hackson.

This bloke has been dead right all along. Even when we made the finals in 2013, he was calling for change yet most of us were shaking hands with our prime minister, just because we made finals.

stuff how wrong were we.

I remember someone saying thank god no one on this sight is in the football department well anything is better than the current recruiters and developers  we have now.

For the premier defender in the competition he was pretty ordinary for quite a while. I remember Brian Taylor bagging him on the radio for years with his kicking.

There is nothing to say "stars" have to be stars from the moment they play there first game especially if the are KPP but to see past the missed kicks or falling over too much is the key. To pick people's  faults is the easy part.
Sometimes you just see it in one contest in one game and something tells you this kid will be a star. I'm not saying I saw it from day one but to me it was obvious from very early on. Alex Rance is by far the best defender the RFC has had in my time of following them. He does it all.
