It sounds like the tide is turning late back towards the UK narrowly voting to stay in the European Union. The murder of that pro-Europe politician by some far-right psycho who supported Brexit has become a turning point.
To me, those wanting out have deluded themselves into believing that Britain can return to what it was 100 years ago when it was THE world power and they are scapegoating and blaming immigration for Britain's decline to the middle-of-the-road economic power it is now. What they fail to see and acknowledge is the world has changed especially in a post-GFC era. Britain's empire vanished long ago and they no longer have foreign colonies to exploit for its manpower and wealth. The world economic centre has also shifted for the first time in about 400 years eastwards away from Europe and towards the Asia-Pacific region thanks to rising Asian powers in China, India, Japan etc. Britain hasn't adapted to the changing times and splitting away from Europe and isolating themselves will only make things worse (eg: they'll lose European subsidies for farming, etc).
ps. As an Aussie, I do laugh at the cries for "independence" from the Brexit (mostly neo-con south-eastern English) crowd. They're the same ones that opposed Scottish independence and are on the same political side that would oppose Australia having its own head of state separate from Britain. One rule some ::).

The English establishment in London and leadership of the mainstream political parties were all for the Remain side. The Brexit vote succeeding has resulted in a leadership vacuum with Tory PM Cameron going and the Labour opposition leader being deadman walking. Boris Johnson will only become PM because there's no one else lol.
The people, especially in the old industrial cities and towns that have been in decay for decades, pretty much voted to leave as a protest vote against their own pollies. The problem is the Leave side made promises about the economy and immigration that it can't keep. Leaving the EU won't restore Britain to its imperial glory days and nor will it curb immigration. All the English have done is commit economic suicide.
ps. It'll be hilarious if Scotland votes to breakaway from England. We'll need a new flag :whistle.

Are the world markets still in this downward spiral bents after Brexit?
worlds gonna end soon after this catastrophe

It's only a matter of time:
I was there when the secretary and the chairman of the Federal Reserve came those days and talked to members of Congress about what was going on... Here's the facts. We don't even talk about these things.
On Thursday, at about 11 o'clock in the morning, the Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous drawdown of money market accounts in the United States to a tune of $550 billion being drawn out in a matter of an hour or two.
The Treasury opened up its window to help. They pumped $105 billion into the system and quickly realized that they could not stem the tide. We were having an electronic run on the banks.
They decided to close the operation, close down the money accounts, and announce a guarantee of $250,000 per account so there wouldn't be further panic and there. And that's what actually happened.
If they had not done that their estimation was that by two o'clock that afternoon, $5.5 trillion would have been drawn out of the money market system of the United States, would have collapsed the entire economy of the United States, and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed.
Now we talked at that time about what would have happened if that happened. It would have been the end of our economic system and our political system as we know it.
-
Yeah im digging my bunker as we speak. They the media would like to let you and everyone think the world is going to end just like this time.
if a meltdown happens who cares. Hold still and move on. The circle comes around pretty quickly.

Exactly. I couldn't give a flying stuff about a bank going under which Deutsche is on the verge of doing so.
'more media trying to put fear into blokes like u that a collapse is imminent. Stay calm bello and have a red

The Special Inspector General for TARP summary of the bailout says that the total commitment of government is $16.8 trillion dollars with the $4.6 trillion already paid out.
A few poor black Americans dudes not being able to pay off their home loans (and other things) led to the o8 GFC and those in the know saying the world economy was "hours away" from total collapse.
Since then things have not got better.
Seems like a lot of effort for the media to go to to sell a few more papers
I am curious as to your season you think everything will be ok in th long term outside of your boyish optimism
-
Yes I do and history says I'm right.
Not going to talk about individual cases where people lost their houses. How the hell do I know their situation.
Brexit and hung parliaments have minimal effect on us and that's what I care about.
Tell me how is America going since 08? Still on the verge of collapse are they?
Time to give it up son. If it turns to s h I t just call the Rockefeller boys to sort you out in saint barts
-
I'm not askin I'm telling- a large factor of the GFC was apparently people on mass, not being able to pay on home loans. Hence we have te fluffy term subprime mortgage crisis. A few poor Americans almost brought down the world economy (and other factors) The world economy is interrelated now, most things have knock on effects.
Historically we have not had several trillion dollar debts or quadrillion dollar derivative bubbles. It's uncharted territory. I am far from an expert but looking into Nixon removing the gold standard or the creation of the fed.
http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2013/12/how-ben-bernanke-saved-the-world/
If we were a few hours away from total financial collapse, why can't it happen again? Will the tax payers have enough money to bail out again? How about the one after that? Surely logic agrees with me, it's a very real possibility it all goes belly up one day
The states have been goin bad since 08. The war time economy keeps up the facade. It did not collapse cause tax payers paid private business trillions in order to bail them out. Yay for capitalism
Here is the sad fact: Over the last decade, the growth rate of real G.D.P. per person has averaged just 0.44 percent per year, compared with the historical norm of 2.0 percent. At a rate of 2.0 percent, incomes double every 35 years. At a rate of 0.44 percent, it takes about 160 years to double.

Another reason as to why history isn't too helpfully in this instance is that money used to be more real than what it is now

Tbf I didn't claim brexit was a big deal. It's not even happened yet, it may not. Fancy Opinion poll really. I'm just a bit fascinated by people with head in the sand.
-
head in the sand? Its got nothing to do with having your head in the sand its got to do with living your life as normal and control what you can. Are debt levels high-yes, could there be a recession-yes, is world gdp at historic lows-is the global economy struggling for gains-yep but at this point in time i care very little. We havent had a recession in over 20 years so if one does eventuate after 30 will you say i told you so?
Swings and roundabouts. Move on and stay calm rockefellar styles.

So typical of the anti-immigration crowd like Brexit's Farage to cut and run so they can try and avoid blame and responsibility later on when England's economy goes south.
