He must be Blair's love child.... :whistle
-
Port Adelaide's Hamish Hartlett is in Melbourne, & is set to meet with several clubs in the upcoming days.
We understand Essendon is one of those clubs.

I'd like Hartlett.
Wonder what he'd cost.
-
One of the most overrated and over-priced B grade players going.
-
We could use some B Graders.
Right now we have a few As and then a bunch of Cs and Ds.
-
Not for $500-600k/year.
That's absurd. If it was $2million for five years I would consider it. Tops!!
-
well we pushed very hard last year for him and offered him good coin but decided to stay at PA should have just come across Hamish and u wouldn't be looking for a club he is on good coin ... to get him as he is contracted what would we have to give up maybe they want ty we seem to ship players across there and become better players- Schultz, white and we get :lol :lol :lol :lol I cant stop laughing Thomas, moore, chaplin

Can play ruck which is a positive

Train well too. Has also been known to mark on the goal line as a last line of defense :clapping :clapping :clapping
-
Has cracked the 30+ possessions tally a whopping four times in his career, most recently in August 2015.
I mean seriously how is he any better than Miles? Will just cost us twice as much...
-
According to Tom Browne on Ch 7 news just now.
-
Please, no...
I don't dislike the idea of Hartlett, but I hate the idea of trading future picks, what happens if we finish bottom 4?? Hartlett is not a bloody top 4 pick.
Will lose a lot of faith in the club if this happens.
Hopefully its all rubbish.
-
Absolutely disgraceful if there's any truth to this. Hartlett is a injury prone fringe player now days at Port. So much so that Conca's hammies and form are more reliable to stand up and that's saying something. We might as well board the Club up if this goes through as we'd have no first round pick until November 2018.
-
Oh comeon...
-
ok. Get ready to start the Balme thread
-
he is 27 as well, if we trade a future first rounder it should be for someone no older than 24.
-
If that happens there won't be enough poo in all Victoria to fill Dimma, Dan and Benny's office
-
Can play ruck which is a positive
Train well too. Has also been known to mark on the goal line as a last line of defense :clapping :clapping :clapping
Does he know what way he is going when he gains a possession?

Brings the ball to the ground?

Hartlett has a huge ceiling but has been severely interrupted by injury. Hopefully that doesn't hold him back. I don't have any issue getting him I just don't like this trading of future picks stuff.
-
If you could get him in for a player trade it would be a great move (BEllis, Conca, Edwards, Vickery, Griffiths) but they are kidding themselves if they give up a early first round pick for him.
-
Imagine finishing last next year. Port gets the number one pick........ :chuck :chuck :chuck
-
I don't care if we pay him 600k but if we trade a 1st rounder that's insane. He is barely a 2nd probably an early 3rd round pick.
-

Imagine.
This potential move has consistency written all over it.
Fiora for pick 3. Tambling for pick 4. Conca and Ellis for pick 7 or thereabouts. Yarran for pick 19. Maric another year.
So much for Balme.
-
If we trade next year's first for Hartlett I'm not buying memberships next year.
-

Turned 26 a couple of months ago actually.

Poop trucks are fuelled up and ready to go if required

Barely averages over 20 possys a game and is a b grader at best.

Tigers, Kangas Keen On Hartlett
Port Adelaide star Hamish Hartlett is talking to as many as five Victorian clubs about a possible trade, according to Triple M Footy’s Jay-Z Clark.
Jay-Z told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Wednesday that Richmond and North Melbourne are “very interested parties” in the race for Hartlett.
Incredibly, Hartlett is up for trade a mere 12 months after signing a five-year deal with the Power.

Ellis was pick 15 unless you are referring to Corey, which would be stiff to lump with them

An initial meeting between Hartlett and ESS did not go well. I'm told HH was "extremely" late to the meeting and seemed "bored".
Hartlett's manager was also said to be underwhelmed with the ESS financial offer. Looks like he won't be a bomber at this stage.

Based on what?
Looking purely at performance to date, not to mention longevity (both have injury concerns yet Prestia is much younger), Prestia is worlds ahead of Hartlett at this stage and will have a longer future ahead of him as well.

Worlds ahead?! Really?
Purely from my own subjective point of view HH is far more polished. His disposal is A grade. He can do things that few others can; bullock through packs find space and slam goals from 50.
He also spends a lot of time across the half forward line which may explain his disposal numbers. Make no mistake, he is a genuine A grader.

Did some analysis and they're likely too different to compare fairly.
In arguably his two best years HH played 44 games and kicked 37 goals between 2013-2014. Averaged 20.8 disposals. Hardly Brett Deledio's numbers but I suppose they're honest. Not what I would call A-grade though. Averaged 8.5 contested possessions and 3.8 tackles/game.
In the same years Prestia played 42 games and kicked 19 goals whilst averaging 26.3 disposals (remember he is also two years younger and GCS were smashed those years whereas Port played finals both times). Averaged 10.5 contested possessions and 4.5 tackles. Definitely better numbers I think.
As for disposal efficiency you are on the money - HH went at 73% in 2015 and 72% in 2016. Dion went 67% and 62%. However given the disposal, CP and tackle figures you could argue Prestia is a more inside-mid, which is what we need more IMO.

HAMISH Hartlett wants to stay at Port Adelaide.
The Power vice-captain has turned away from his Victorian AFL suitors — Richmond, Essendon and St Kilda — to declare he would prefer to stay at Alberton rather than be part of a forced trade.
Richmond has first-round pick No. 6 but has this in play for Gold Coast midfielder Dion Prestia. Reports that the Tigers are prepared to offer their 2017 first-round draft pick for Hartlett does not suit Port Adelaide’s immediate needs.

We will end up with Prestia....that will be it, maybe a third tier ruckman in Nankervis. Another aggressive, big fish, war chest trade period for us is looming.....LMFAO.

How Hartlett could have been a premiership Tiger
Tim Michell
Herald Sun
January 31, 2020
Richmond was “very keen” to lure Port Adelaide vice-captain Hamish Hartlett the year before it claimed its droughtbreaking premiership.
The Power halfback was linked with the Tigers and Essendon during the 2016 trade period despite signing a five-year contract extension in 2015.
Hartlett said his relationship with Richmond’s recruiting boss Blair Hartley instigated talks which could have led to him becoming a Tigers premiership hero.
“Blair and I have always had a pretty good relationship and they were really keen,” he said. “But I just sort of said, ‘nah, look I want to honour my contract here at Port Adelaide, I want to turn into the player I think I can become and I want to have team success with this football club and football team.
“That was where it sort of ended.”
Hartlett said his Power teammates enjoyed reminding him of how close he came to being part of Richmond’s 2017 flag.
“The boys get stuck into me a little bit about it. They often say, ‘you could potentially be a two-time premiership player’,” he said on SEN SA.
“Then I always come back and say, ‘maybe in the VFL’, because I reckon I’d struggle to get in that team at the moment.”
A “proud Port Adelaide man”, Hartlett said he was glad he stayed in Adelaide despite missing out on the possibility of being part of Richmond’s two premierships in the past three seasons.
“There was a period of time where I had to explore things because my career at Port Adelaide at the time probably wasn’t going the way I wanted it to and the way the club wanted to either,” he said.
“It was always going to be difficult for me to leave Adelaide. I’m a pretty loyal guy to the footy club and obviously my friends and family here as well.”

He can spend the rest of his life wandering what its like to win a premiership in the afl.
-
He can spend the rest of his life wondering 'How am I going to get the tarps over all these empty seats'! :huh
