I'd go Bolton for the Dogs if Jack, as assumed, isn't available.

His pace could be handy.

In Bolton and Garthwaite.
Out: Jack and Astbury(both injured).

Higgins and Rioli weren't fantastic against the Demons but shouldn't be dropped.

I thought Higgins was actually pretty good, probably best game for the season.

He did make some clangers and his kicking was a bit off, but I reckon you can forgive that from a kid moving into a midfield role. He got a reasonable amount of the footy, and I think he had 10 contested possessions.

I thought last week he looked like he needed a spell, but after last night with a 10 day break he stays in for mine.

INS: Bolton

OUTS: Reiwoldt (inj)

And if Astbiry doesn't come up then straight swap for Garthwaite

Agree with above.

Higgins and KMac aren't going anywhere on their form. I thought they were both serviceable last night, especially Higgins.

I rate Moore but a not as a Riewoldt replacement.... want to see CCJ...but I also want to see Bolton again.... silver lining to Riewoldt's injury is that Balta -who I strongly suspect is last picked every week at this stage- should now get a good run of games... :shh

Im with Dio on this I want to see CCJ
not moore. CCJ can also help Nank in the ruck a little bit.

I don't think they will play CCJ in the same side as Balta.

If astbury doesn’t come up then what if balta takes his spot down back and bring in ccj to fill baltas and jacks role as a stuff. Then bring in Bolton for Riewoldt.

Yeah, my assumption was Balta would stay playing further up  the ground.

But if he goes back, then it could happen.

Out- Jack

In- Bolton (should never have been dropped)

Haven’t things changed when you can get news that one of our greatest forwards to ever play for the Tigers is out and you are not too worried because you trust others like Bolton can contribute to cover him.

Imo we must keep kids like Bolta, Ross, Bolton and Stack in the side even if they have a quiet game or two. We must look long term.

Unfortunately that means players like Grigg may have to miss out even when fit.

Lucky we're got Lynch which has enabled us to cover Jack's absence.

Agree BT, we need to keep playing the cubs. We've seen from the PF last year and the early rounds this year that we needed to expand and upgrade our depth especially in the midfield. These cubs give us that.

I love Bolts but someone had to come out for Jack. If not him, who? You'd be hard pressed to find anyone that deserved to be dropped. Castagna was in average form but had a good game Wednesday night and he's the only one I could think of that would have been considered a decent decision by RFC fans.

Anyway, I'd be bringing Bolts back in for Jack as well. Consideration to Towner very soon...:shh

RICHMOND

Get them in: Shai Bolton (25 disposals, 11 tackles) was outstanding in the VFL after his surprise omission from the senior side. Draftee midfielder Riley Collier-Dawkins had his best VFL game, while regular contributors Jacob Townsend and Connor Menadue were also good.

Under the pump: With just six touches, small forward Daniel Rioli was uncharacteristically quiet against Melbourne, although he did lay five tackles. He was coming off a bad corkie and a four-day break, and will be better for the rest.

Medical room: Jack Riewoldt's luck this season has gone from bad to worse, returning from a wrist injury only to injure his knee. He's facing 6-8 weeks on the sidelines. stuff David Astbury will need to get through training this week after rolling his ankle against Melbourne. Jack Graham picked up a minor hamstring complaint in the VFL and is out for at least a week.

Verdict: A reverse of last week's team change, with Bolton coming in for Riewoldt. A 10-day break will help Astbury's cause, with Ryan Garthwaite on standby if needed.

With Astbury now out then Garthwaite obviously comes in.

Suggest Menadue ?
As no obvious match up

Like i said earlier in this thread obvious replacement would be garthy but it wouldnt be the worst time to bring in CCJ for a run. He can fill in jacks role in the fwd line and baltas role as 2nd ruck, then balta can fill astburys role in defense. Depending on the conditions of course.

Out: Riewoldt, Astbury
In: CCJ, Bolton

Now Astbury may be out I would like to see Townsend get a chance.

Our pressure has gone up the last 3 weeks but throw Townsend back in their and it goes up another level again. 9 tackles on the weekend at VFL level.

Also Bolton back.

Ins- Bolton and Townsend
Outs- Jack and Astbury.

You do realise that if they do that then they'll probably move your boy from the wing to the backline again where even you admit he stinks it up...... :shh :shh

They took him thinking he’ll take 4 years before he’s physically developed enough to play AFL. He is ready now so it’s his time to shine. Was unlucky to be dropped after the Port game.... :shh
