Oleg has requested to be traded to the Suns. Been offered a two year deal. The choice was between Markov and Broad and the Suns got Oleg.
- Sam Edmund on SEN
-
good luck to the mustached one
-
Shame. Was the next Houli replacement imo. Wonder if we should have played him more over Houli who is having repeater soft tissue injuries now.
GC have 5, 24, 33, 71 and 79.
Hope we don't settle for 71. Markov is better than that but now pick 33 either.
Maybe Markov + 56 for 33?
-
Has to be pick 33 maybe 56 going there, no way pick 71 I will be filthy at the club it alright to help players out , but let's not get burned.Would you do our pick 19 for 24 and 33.
-
I wouldn't push our 1st rounder back.
Would take 33 but don't see the Suns going for that.
A future 3rd rounder (40s pick) might get it done IMV.

No, 1st pick needs to be as high as possible.
I want 33 for Markov + 56
-
Gold Coast's general manager on SEN said they won't be trading their first two picks 5 & 24. He didn't mention them having 33 at all. Only their latter picks in the 70s.
He was asked what pick would get the Markov deal done. He mentioned possibly a future pick(s).
He added they've always had good relations with Richmond at trade time and it won't be a problem to get a deal done.
-
Hoult is nearly cooked IMO, I would keep Markov
Mind you RFC has not called me lately to be their new list manager😂😂
-
Straight swap the 2MP.... :shh
-
Straight swap the 2MP.... :shh
Fringe player, not best 22 not worth anything (usual crap we hear re: Butler, KMac, Higgins etc).
Therefore I want 2MP + a sweetener.
Haha
-
I would keep him, showed great promise , has skill and speed and I expect Basha to pu injuries next year
What will an equiv player cost. A 2nd rounder imo
-
The dashing half-back will accept a two-year deal at the Suns and is expected to be one of the first trades completed when the window opens on Wednesday.

-
Best of luck and will watch the Suns with interest...i liked him but needs to look after himself.
-
The way I look at it is if fit he plays every game next year for the Suns- surely a best 22 player for them gets us pick 33.
He was an emergency for the GG for a team that has won 3 from 4.
Pick 33 is fair otherwise I would tell them to FO.
I think Higgins is worth about the same
-
Suns can jam a 3rd rounder where the Suns don’t shine. 2nd rounder or no deal
-
Richmond will trade running defender Oleg Markov to Gold Coast for a third-round pick or later.

-
Bit of a joke but ok. Club knows what's it doing I guess.
That's very generous for a player who should be in their best 22
-
F me. We are like the $2 shop. Bargains everywhere
-
Sounds like it will be a future third round pick.
-
Guess that's all a potential GF sprint medalist is worth to GC... :shh
-
Total BS if we just grab our ankles and take a third.
-
They did hand us the last 2 flags on a platter for nothing so I guess some of our scraps is a small thank you
-
I can see why he's leave, very fringe for most of his time here, only this last year has he looked a regular. Pity I thought he'd be regular 22 next year too. Maybe not being picked for the finals was the last straw. Dimma probably doesn't like him.
-
Expected to get done today according to Sam Edmund on SEN just now.
-
We need Dodo in charge of our trades. Trade time is boring when our boys just get given away for minimum chips each year
-
I would take their pick 35. Some crappy articles think it's a future 2nd or 3rd.
-
Done fir a future 3rd round pick :(
-
Done fir a future 3rd round pick :(
No issue
Better than nothing
He was uncontracted could have go there for free :rollin
-
Beat me to it Loui.
Suns' future 3rd rounder.
-
..is about what he's worth & also makes sense to trade for future picks with list reductions pending... :shh
-
He's in the Suns best 22 so 3rd rounder under's. Not sure why we continue to be Mr Nice Guy in trades. Was pick 50 - 6 years ago and we trade him for about the same pick after developing him. Would have been much happier with a future second rounder.
Higgins will be the interesting one, contracted, first round pick. What will we get....
-
GC couldn't have given us a future second round pick even if they wanted too....

This was always going to be the make or break year for him. He showed signs but I guess not enough to convince the club he was worth retaining. Who is Houli's replacement now?
-
Not a good deal for me. Natural replacement for Houli.
-
Geez Geez some of you are ridiculous.
Would bet 95% of this forum wanted him delisted end of last year and halfway through this year you wouldn't have given a rats ass if he was traded/delisted.
Yeah, sure, he played some decent footy when he came into the side. Personally I'd rather see him running around than Houli at this point but he's really achieved stuff all and a pick north of 35 is his worth
-
You are not allowed to type the name of the man who was nailed to a cross?

Disagree. Next year will see who right. Will seriously consider taking him in my Supercoach team when he is with Gold Coast. (and cheap)
-
Certainly not saying he won't go on to play good football. But right now GC are offering up a fair market value.
I'd hang onto him for another year too but he wants to go and the club will facilitate that for him. Bit of a shame but
-
Markov's flaw is he can be easily pushed off the ball. He needs to be fed the ball with space in front of him to use his straight line speed.
Receiving a future 3rd rounder isn't unexpected IMV.
-
Coulda been worse - coulda swapped him for Will Brodie....:shh

You just described Houli, the only difference this year and going forward is opportunity.
Markov if fit will play every game for GC next year and if Houli retired, he would play heaps of games for us too.
I think there may be an unwritten agreement between the 2 clubs still over the Lynch deal.
-
The guy played 23 games over 6 seasons, only 6 this year and was out of contract.....not sure what some of you were expecting. It doesn’t matter what his place in their team is, we picked up nank for a third rounder and he slotted in as our number 1 ruck straight away.
-
At least he went for something, I remember a time our fringe players were worth nothing or were picked up by other clubs for free in the draft
-
Would have walked as a delisted free agent anyway - so better to get something rather than nothing at all.
Dodo at Essendon would have asked for Matty Rowell and dragged it out!! :)
Thank god we are not like that in trade week!!
-
I was one who wanted us to draft Markov and was pleased with the pick. 23 games in what 5 or 6 yrs enough is enough already.
Good that GCS see something in him and are willing to give him a crack its also good that we at least got some sort of compensation for him.

They’re the facts

Markov feels 'important' at new AFL home.
