Yep, Dylan Leach tweeted it a couple of days ago
Foxtel exclusive game & they want us.
I now have 2 separate bookings, original 1 for up Friday back Sunday, & last night booked up Wednesday home Friday

I now have 2 separate bookings, original 1 for up Friday back Sunday, & last night booked up Wednesday home Friday
It is was Friday night I might be able to do it
But Thursday night? No way I can do that
End of month, end of fin year are sort of busy times for an accountant
I have flights booked for the weekend only. Will likely still go up to see my family seeing I missed a very important family event the other week
But I had promised my great niece I'd take her to first game of footy. Will have to break her heart and tell she can't go
Ones Gil and Travis Auld you put of touch morons :banghead
-
Why can’t they just leave it till the Sat?
And they’re not giving us much time to grab tickets?
-
Why can’t they just leave it till the Sat?

Foxtel $$$, they want an exclusive Thursday game & they've picked ours apparently

Screws me also gold coast thursday fmd :scream

Why the need for a Thursday night footy. :huh
So much for maximising crowds :banghead
They AFL bang on about it being a priority but clearly that's just crap
Appeasing the broadcasters is the priority
-
Im sure shocking would rather have us play at night to nullify our dominance on the scoreboard. This decision makes no sense, but it is shocking after all.
when are tickets available, we are heading up Thursday morning.
-
Screws me also gold coast thursday fmd :scream
stuffs me over too and I only live an hour away in Brisbane. I was planning a weekend on the GC, pumping money into the local economy severely impacted by Covid. Oh well, guess I will drive down Thursday arvo and back late Thursday night in time for work on Friday.
-

Shocking is rightly to blame for most things wrong with the game these days
But he doesn't do the fixturing, has very little if any input
This monumental stuff up falls at the feet of one Travis Auld... formerly the CEO of the Gold Coast Suns... you'd think he'd have more of a clue but clearly not... to many lattes with Shocking and Gil perhaps :banghead
-
its the same thing WP. Im sure they all sit down and have a good chat about things.
Much like shocking and scott last year over our dominance
Its not as if we are dominating so why change the date? Pathetic

The game for the fans....broadcasters
-
It's unreliable (Tom Browne on 7news) but he's claiming the AFL is "seriously considering moving all eight interstate clubs to Victoria".
So there's a chance our Suns game will be played in Melbourne.
-
Oh the irony
Hubs in Victoria?
Who would have thought
A lots changed in 12 months
-
Will it be on 7

Will it be on 7
Supposedly not

Got my tickets
Sorry Julz but my gut feel on this, with everything going on COVID wise is that the game will be moved down to Melb
And both Qld sides will be down here within the next 24-48 hours
Just basing it on how the AFL have handled this stuff in the past
-
I’m canceling my flight tomorrow morning

cancelled my flights & accom :(

Still hoping to go, haven’t booked flights yet
Maybe tomorrow ;D
-
Whateley on 360 and Jon Ralph on On the Couch both say at this stage the game will be played at Metricon as both Victoria and the Gold Coast are currently 'green' zones. Ralph got confirmation of that from the Suns' CEO Mark Evans and Chairman Tony Cochrane.
Ralph also added that if the game does go ahead at Metricon, there could a restriction on crowds (50%) with everyone wearing masks.
ps. Whateley said if there were to be a 'hub' for the interstate sides in Melbourne then games would be played across 4 venues - MCG, Marvel, Geelong and Ballarat.
-
Perth just gone into lockdown.
-
Jon Ralph said, at this stage, Gold Coast’s Thursday night clash against Richmond at Metricon Stadium will go ahead.
“Suns chief executive Mark Evans tells me at the moment, the Gold Coast and Victoria are green zones, so he and the AFL expect the game to go ahead,” he said.
“Tony Cochrane tells me it might be with limited crowds, maybe half crowds, and of course masks.”
Despite so many non-Victorian clubs set to be in Melbourne by later in the week, Ralph said the AFL was “doing everything in its power to stop hubs from going ahead”.
“Paul Marsh, the AFLPA boss, says we have not have a single discussion with the AFL about a compressed fixture or those hubs. But as the AFL tells me tonight, Round 6 was a nightmare to fixture, Round 16 was an absolute nightmare, it’s even harder this week,” Ralph said.
“It’s costing them an extra $5 million per round to get all those teams across the country. Every time they fly a private jet to Melbourne from WA and back, that’s $100,000 that is gone. So the hubs can’t be any more expensive than that, if they had 18 in Victoria, and they would safeguard the competition.”
He added: “I think Round 17 is still OK, anything after that potentially – we’ll already have by the end of this weekend 15 clubs in Victoria, it’s not a big step to get 18 here.”

Perth just gone into lockdown.
Back up plan is for Freo to get an exemption to leave WA and play Carlton at Kardinia Park.
-
The Suns had expected 5000 to 6000 mainly Richmond fans to travel for their game prior to the COVID issues. But they think the crowd will be fine, as per State of Origin.

wouldn't even waste my time flying up now with these fools who could shut up shop at any stage after 2 cases.
Anyway, if we cant beat the suns who are coming off a 5 day break then we are finished for the year. Regardless its time we cleaned out the dead wood starting with Houli, Ross, Garthwaite Egg and Chol.
Suns will push us make no mistake.

Lions, Suns told to flee Queensland, Thursday's Tigers clash in the air
By Michael Whiting, Mitch Cleary, Cal Twomey

29 June 2021 11:15am
Gold Coast's Thursday night clash with Richmond could be moved with the Suns and Brisbane players set to share a chartered flight to Melbourne on Tuesday afternoon.
Marvel Stadium is now one of the options for the Thursday night game but there is a chance the Suns will return to Queensland and play the match at Metricon.
The Queensland teams were told to leave the state in a bid to get ahead of any possible problems with the latest COVID-19 cases.

If they are coming to Melb then they are not going back tomorrow to play Thursday night now. The game will be at Marvel

if the wuhan lab flu politically popular societally disastrous lockdowns lasts long enough we might end up with a game at punt road oval

qld locked down
yep 3 days from midnight
Game will have to be moved

See ya at the G lads
-
haha as expected with that one up there hence why i cancelled with full refund. Massive blow to tourism.
If they are coming to Melb then they are not going back tomorrow to play Thursday night now. The game will be at Marvel
That is a good result given our record at the g, but why would you think its at marvel?

It's meant to be an 'away' game for us. So the AFL will most likely play it 'away' at Marvel.
-
now wouldn't it be fair that it was played at the G considering all the home games we have lost over the last 2 years compared to the Lions and Gold Coast???? Hmmm
-
Will it still be on a Thursday night or move it to Saturday or Sunday?
-
See ya at the G lads
I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's down at Geelong ;D
Suns home game they get to chose
Can't see them agreeing to the MCG
-
It will be at Marvel. Dimma did well telling the world he can't stand the joint so lock it in.
-
How about the AFL paying us back for all the home games we've missed as supporters and club over the last year and a half, seriously only fair?
-
We've played a lot better at Marvel than we have at the 'G this year anyway.... :shh

Gold Coast's clash with Richmond will now be played at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
The AFL has spent Tuesday investigating possible venues after all teams from Queensland and Western Australia were relocated to Victoria.
The Suns-Tigers game was originally scheduled for Metricon Stadium, but instead it will be played at the Docklands venue in the same Thursday night timeslot.
Ticketing details will be communicated by the Club when they become available.

The players simply must respond physically to last weeks effort. Early on players were not hard enough (Dusty looking at you).
If we do not go after GC tomorrow night win or lose I think this will indicate were we are at.

4 quarter effort tonight let's hope the boys had a wakeup call and realise handwork got us the 3 flags.Once again the sloppyness needs to go.
-
Thomson Dow is the medical sub :thumbsup
-
Spot on georgies. I just want us to do the basics right tonight. That needs to be the first step in us getting out of this rut and rediscovering our mojo. Sick of seeing us dish up U10s skills & schoolboy mistakes this year.
-
Same as last week so far :banghead.
-
Just about ready to call this game already. Pathetic start. Chol handballing to no one Pickett should have had a shot. Handballs missing targets, fumbles.
-
Mentally gone.
-
We are well and truely gone. The mental aspect of the fight and will to win the contest has left us. So now our vast number of role players are being exposed for their lack of skill and talent.
-
Pickett pooting himself because of Brave Brando :lol
-
Sheds injured?
-
Anyone ever noticed we are behind in marking contests 90% of the time. Drives me up the wall!
-
Umps as bad as us ::)
-
Unwatchable
-
This is barely watchable
-
Geez our mids have become very lazy in transition.
-
Embarrassing. No tackling pressure
-
Umps as bad as us ::)
They’re bad but not that bad
-
Dusty in holiday mode on the GC. Looks disinterested and getting pushed off the ball by guys who aren’t half his size!
-
This is exactly the opposite of what we needed to do. Go hard at the ball and tackle. So far we've been soft.
-
Tone set in the first minute by Edwards' half-arsed attempt to kick the ball off the ground following a loose GC kick into the corridor. Lazy, sloppy, dumb, crap.:thumbsdown
-
Arts is so bad in the air. Offers stuff all but hey hes one of many
-
Lucky to be only a goal down. Should be 5 goals behind. That was worse than last week if that is possible. Getting smashed at ground level. Losing every contest & no run or spread. Suns working harder & too quick on the outside. Our structure has broken down forward of the ball. Like a bottom side :banghead.
-
We’re on track for 24 tackles for the game
-
Pickett being exposed here
-
Mcintosh gets near it finally and turns it over, aarts gives away 50. Down the other end, goal
Disgusting
-
Legit looks like we’ve forgotten how to play footy.
-
Aarts has to be delisted at half time
-
Like I'm watching Space Jam. Someone's stolen our skills.
No one can kick it, mark it or do anything for that matter.
-
Geez… we are outnumbered everywhere.
-
4 years at the top, flag last year was a huge effort, I think we're burnt out this year.
-
Like I'm watching Space Jam. Someone's stolen our skills.
No one can kick it, mark it or do anything for that matter.
:lol :rollin
-
More goals than last week :cheers
-
More goals than last week :cheers
:rollin :lol
-
Ninthmond
-
I think we are done with this group of players.
-
Woohooo we are back
Champagne footy :cheers
-
I would hope Vlastuin was tricked and called out by Swallow there...
-
Chol is like a 6 year old chasing butterflies.
-
That was a pee poor effort by Pickett in that contest. Should have killed that contest.
-
It’s like we’ve forgotten how to tackle.
-
I’ve seen enough of CJ
-
Coleman Jones is a pussy.
-
That last 10 seconds sums up our season so far.
-
I’ve seen enough of CJ
He's not alone out there
-
Cotchin with the standard 4 ineffective possessions per quarter.
-
I’ve seen enough of CJ
Would rather keep Chol....seriously... :shh
-
Probably the worst ruckman display I have ever seen for Richmond. No presence little effort. Gold Coast Ruckman who is a dud is giving them first use. Hard to watch.
-
Undisciplined, dumb and soft. At stoppages we are all standing forward side of the ball and not protecting the defensive side. Schoolboy stuff. That qtr we also got killed in the air. Can we actually win a centre clearance? Who is on Touk Miller? Just pathetic :banghead.
-
All our “Role players” will struggle now the system can’t be implemented. Good ordinary platters only look good when the system is sustainable.
They’ll all be just ordinary players now. :rollin
-
And to think I was disappointed I couldn’t get to the game
-
I could not be more disappointed in our talks as i am tonight. Everyone of them is being monstered by smaller opponents. It's absolutely pathetic!
Chol is hopeless
CCJ is hopeless
Astbury need to finish up after a stellar career
Houli the same
Cotchin almost the same
Where have we gone? Gee we miss Nank as Chol and CCJ are just weak.
-
Do we practice handballing at feet?
Coleman-Jones subbed so his trade value doesn't plummet.
-
Pathetic :banghead
-
Train wreck
-
If it wasn't done last week the season is officially over.
If we can't beat these Muppets we don't deserve it.
Regroup for 2022
-
Lynch and Jack just as pathetic.
-
Very very very soft effort by RCD at that contest.
-
If it wasn't done last week the season is officially over.
If we can't beat these Muppets we don't deserve it.
Regroup for 2022
It’s over mate. Go watch the replays over and over because we will be rebuilding for a while.
Relive the memories.
-
Ellis running through our wingers :D
-
The reason why we are gone is because of blokes like Brandon Ellis
Look how stuffing hard hes constantly running. Look how our blokes poo the bed and hope a gun will do it
No urgency
-
Gotta get Belly back :shh
-
This place cleared out quicker than a Melbourne loss. Claw will join me soon at least :)
-
The Battle for Britney is looking more appealing
-
Geez Chol is such a competitive beast in the ruck stoppages…. Not!
-
Bloody hell, we cannot win it out of the centre.
-
Pickett is a much better option with n the ruck than Chol. Just proved it!
-
It's not only the ruck all over the ground we don't look switched on.
-
Wish I didn't care as much as I did.
-
How can that fat porker Dew & his motley crew beat us?
-
Is Bolton & Graham out there this half
-
At least Chol wins the odd hit out.... :shh
...to bad it usually goes straight to the opposition... :shh :shh
-
How can that fat porker Dew & his motley crew beat us?
Something is not right even with our injuries.Same stuff week after week poor skills, passengers, undisciplined lapses.
-
The question has to be asked. How are we actually this close. We should be 8 goals behind. Our whole team is down, our mids are getting absolutely pantsed.
-
Still not protecting the defensive side at stoppages. Gifting them goals out the front all night.
Ps. These whistle happy umps esp. #1 are hopeless::)
-
Our small forwards are another huge issue. Castagna needs to be dropped for crying out loud. Why don't we tag Miller with Graham- it needs to be done!
Edwards needs to be played on ball as he is the only player who can create.
What the hell is going on.
-
Gotta get Belly back :shh
Best he's ever played in a Richmond match.... :shh :shh
-
Don’t give it to Houli :banghead
-
Get Houli off.
-
Well, that kick from Houli describes exactly where he and the whole team are at. Just absolutely brutal and not to senior standard.
-
We don't want to win this.
-
Lynch has been huge tonight.
Not saying he needs to kick 5 every week but it's the best he's played all year and I hope he's getting into some form.
Astbury has been solid. We are still too short without a 3rd tall though.
Chol makes me sick. FHO.
-
Naishs softness cost us a goal then.
-
How do we get Charlie Ballard to Tigers
-
F&ck me Jack… stupid stupid stupid!
-
If the Cap didn’t fall over everytime he got the ball in the middle he might of had a good game.
-
Just not our night
-
Every possession is rushed and off balance. Playing in his missus’ high heels!
-
Get off Houli.
-
Jeez the umps have raped us in this last quarter. Houli clearly spoiled that ball. Zero arm contact. Throws when the ball spills out in a tackle. Frees 1-9 in the last.
Lynch gets tackled in that marking contest, Collins wasn’t even looking at the ball.
-
Our time has ended. Its time to rebuild.
-
Zero composure the last 5 minutes.
Season is done! What a rabble.
-
Our assistant coaches all need to sacked. Hardwick needs better assistants.
-
Not the umpires tonight's.
Players will get booed off tonight.
-
Just not our night
not our year
-
Our assistant coaches all need to sacked. Hardwick needs better assistants.
all the good ones have left
-
Yep
-
Jeez the umps have raped us in this last quarter. Houli clearly spoiled that ball. Zero arm contact. Throws when the ball spills out in a tackle. Frees 1-9 in the last.
Lynch gets tackled in that marking contest, Collins wasn’t even looking at the ball.
And GC should’ve won by 6 goals and had it done and dusted by quarter time.
It’s over. Watch the replays and enjoy the next rebuild.
-
Bring back leppa
-
Seriously never looked like winning.
Players are walking off shaking hands. WTF.
Time to write the season off. Finish low, get drsft pick.
-
Did some curse kick in halfway through the last quarter against West Coast...went from looking like world beaters to couldn't beat an egg... :huh
-
We might not win another game this year. Can’t confidently say we could beat North or Hawthorne the way we are rolling.
-
Bring back leppa
Yep. Id get rid of all of them and bring him back.
-
I honestly think this is just a down year due to all the disruptions with injuries. Our list is still really strong with the young talent coming through. We need players to improve for us to continue to be a strong team. Im excited for the next phase of this Richmond team that has given us so many great memories
-
Looks like we all start looking to the draft now :scream
-
Bring back leppa
Yep. Id get rid of all of them and bring him back.
to play or coach?
-
Play the kids...let Dusty get his foot right..let Jack get his 700th in the season opener v the Scumbaggers..... :shh
-
It should have been a 40 point loss tonight. Yes they have been unbelievably successful and provided us the most amazing 4 years but it's time 6-8 players either get traded out or retired off.
Houli
Astbury
Retire ASAP
Castagna
Chol
CCJ
Dropped for good and never to return. Get what we can for them.
our depth is not as good as i thought.
-
It's time for a statement at selection. I don't care if we win or lose for the rest of the year but we can't just keep playing out of form players each week because they are premiership players.
-
play the kids!
-

I'm not totally sure about our list. Our talls are the worst in the comp. Our mids are being smashed every week. I do see young talent
-

Add Cotchin to the retirement list.
Add MacIntosh and Caddy to to the trade list.
-
Got what we deserved for that 'effort'. Too many Tiger passengers picking and choosing when to put in or not. Leaders/experienced players having too many costly brainfades. Smashed again in the centre clearances. Skill level back to the bad old days. We've gone from premiers to being the worst team in the comp in the space of nine months.

We all knew it was going to happen eventually.
Time to go the rebuild hopefully it doesn’t take us another 37 years.
-
We are missing Nank big time around the stoppages. While Chol was ok around the ground tonight, we were smashed in the centre and at stoppages - Nank might not win every tap but he makes them earn it at ground level. Chol does nothing for us once the ball hits the ground in terms of presence and aggression.
-
Castagna a 25 yo triple premiership player, could you get a late 2nd rounder?

Chol was crap around the ground and was crap all night. Took one or two marks in the last but he is simply way too soft to play at the highest level. Was thrashed by a small part time ruckman- embarrassing really

In the rookie draft maybe.... :shh
-
You cannot win games when players are lazy. The numbers don't lie. Nobody wants to get their hands dirty anymore.

Amazing achievement and one he should be very proud of, however he needs to be dropped then traded out. Thanks George but this year has confirmed it for me.

Houli and Chol named in the best on the AFL website :lol
-
No need to spit the dummy here people.
We have had a blessed run. Best four years of my life.
It’s very hard to stay at the top for more than five years. Yes, the cliff has come quicker than expected but it was always gonna come.
Time to regenerate the list and go again in a few years.

Agree and no problems with this i just hope Dimma can make the tough calls.
-

Those 2 should hang their head in shame after tonight. The 2 most softest efforts I've seen along with Naish who I hope I never see again after this year.
It took them 15 mins into the last quarter to actually do something.
-
It doesn't matter the team but when you have so many players out of form like we do you are not going to win many games
Throw in the injuries and you are ...well...ummmm.... stuffed
The flow on from being out of form is that at crucial times you have brainfades
Don't get me wrong I'm bloody disappointed with tonight, we reaped what we sowed in the last 10 minutes
But if we have to have this horror season after 3 flags in 4 years then I'll take it
Not going to enjoy it by any stretch but will keep going and supporting
But will say some tough decisions need to be made
-
Agree WP though the soft efforts make me sick. Seen houli pull out twice in front of me. Can handle it if you tried your guts fine, but the soft efforts I saw tonight belong in the gutter.
What was it 25 tackles in the first half?
-
If Geelong, Melbourne and Carlton all win we'll still be in the eight.... :santa
-
I could not be more disappointed in our talks as i am tonight. Everyone of them is being monstered by smaller opponents. It's absolutely pathetic!
Chol is hopeless
CCJ is hopeless
Astbury need to finish up after a stellar career
Houli the same
Cotchin almost the same
Where have we gone? Gee we miss Nank as Chol and CCJ are just weak.
You forgot the rest of the team
We are satisfied and the newbies stuff me
Chol stuffing useless
Bank is the heart of our team
Always hesitate to blame the green maggots but they were the worst I’ve seen tonight
All we. Can blame is ourselves in the end
I just don’t know ??????

From 'First Crack' (Ben Dixon, Gerald Healy and Nick Dal Santo on Fox Footy):
Zones scored from:
Rich GC
Defensive half: 7.5-47 2.7-19
Centre clearances: 0.0-0 1.4-10
Forward half: 3.2-20 7.6-48
* Last night Richmond regularly had to try and score starting from our defence and work their way through the whole opposition which is difficult.
* Our forward half game of previous years has vanished.
* Dal Santo added that Dimma mentioned a lack of confidence. It wasn't confidence; it was a lack of effort. When Richmond was defending well there was a symmetry to it all. Not any more. They're isolated and only one man comes up to defend.

Agree time to rebuild. We need to start the process now. Make a statement now. Drop Houli, McIntosh and George

Add our kicking was woeful eg Houli, McIntosh and Aarts. We failed to man up and gave them enormous space.

Looks to me players checked out for the year our skills are shocking.
-
In 2018 we didnt win the flag but we put up a great title defence. Our defending of the crown this year is embarrassing. Just disappointed. Had a chance to 3peat gor the first time ever and our title defence is shot to pieces. At least have a crack! We not even doing that.

Was thinking this morning that our senior players look knackered, which is completely understandable. Four years of short preseasons, playing in bruising finals, being ‘the hunted’ every game. They need an extended summer break.

It's been so bad it reminds me of our midfield back in the 90s & 00s who could never hit Richo on the chest :P.

Agreed. They finished the year at the end of October. It’s hard to be overly critical

Officially out of the 8 with GWS beating Melbourne.

AFL Report Card: Round 16
David Zita, Ben Cotton, Max Laughton and Ben Waterworth
Foxsports
5 July 2021
RICHMOND
Thursday night’s loss to the Suns was plain ugly for the yellow and black and puts their flag defence in tatters. Coming off last week’s horror 40-point loss to St Kilda, Tigers coach Damien Hardwick even declared that the they’d prepared for the Suns clash as their most important of the season. It’s fair to say he didn’t get the response he wanted. If the Tigers don’t look out they might even slide out of eighth place, currently sitting on equal points as the ninth-placed Dockers. Adding to their woes is more injury setbacks to Bachar Houli, Callum Coleman-Jones, Nick Vlasutin and Shane Edwards.
In the votes
It’s hard to find too many good performances from the Tigers other than Tom Lynch – who booted a game-high five goals and didn’t give up all night. His partner in crime up forward Jack Riewoldt battled hard but only converted one goal and three behinds. The syndesmosis injury blow to Houli really hurts given he was their leading disposal getter with 24.
Room for improvement
The loss of key defensive pair Nathan Broad and Noah Balta to syndesmosis injuries last week was always going to hurt Richmond’s back six and it showed here. If not for the Suns’ inaccuracies in front of goal, the Tigers could’ve and probably should’ve been blown out. The Tigers’ defence looked out of sorts and uncharacteristically disorganised – an area they have built their brand and recent success on.
