Scrappy?
Understatement at the moment
-
Lynch gets our first :clapping
-
Well done by Miller there. Got the spoil then nice kick to George to set up the play that got it to Baker who kicked long to Lynch 30 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 1.1-7
Haw 0.1-1

Scrappy?
Understatement at the moment
True :lol
-
Didn't anyone else hear Jonathan Brown's comment about the crowd pre-game?
Something along the lines of "disappointing there is such a small crowd"
WTF?
-
We could finish 9th if we win and 12th if we lose.
Go Hawks!!
-
And that's why George you were in the ressies.
Hawks run it up the other end for a goal.
7 all.

:lol
Umpires off to another stellar start
-
LOL. Commentators complain about hands in the back against Pickett yet said nothing last week when Hogan did the same thing to Floss.
Poor kick by Pickett and it's no score.
-
Sheesh, can we kick it forward.
-
Yep we don't get 50 for the opposition moving on the mark. Thanks SHocking ::).
Chol long shot misses.
8 - 7
-
Sheesh, can we kick it forward.
Hawks are flooding. Welcome to SHocking footy.
-
One handball too many that almost stuffed it up but Goal to George :gotigers.
Rich 2.2-14
Haw 1.1-7
-
Baker showing George and Aarts what front and square means. Baker crumbs off the pack and hits up Chol 20 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 3.2-20
Haw 1.1-7
-
Kinda enjoying watching the kids.
Rodan smiles every time we jag a goal haha.
Dow looks good. Ross much better when he's properly on ball, to the point where I'd consider keeping him + putting weight on if he's allowed to play inside.
-
Arm over the shoulder not paid to Floss.
20 - 13
-
Is there a bigger blight on our game the stand rule
Seriously!
This chipping, stop start footy is awful to watch. It's got worse as the season has gone on. I thought last night was SHocking, this is worse. Two sides with nothing to play for drags it down to another level of SHocking crap :banghead
AFL should be ashamed

Agree. That rule and prior opportunity has almost ruined footy making it unwatchable.
-
1/4 time
Richmond 3.2-20
Hawthorn 2.2-14
Goals: Castagna, Chol, Lynch.
-
Millers made a nice start.

Absolutely WP.
The stupid rule just encourages teams to flood back to defend waiting for the turnover. So it's all uncontested chip mark crap to maintain possession and avoid a turnover rather than kick goals :sleep.
-
First time all year we've played possession footy.

As I said if they haven't changed the nominated ruck rule after five whole years of universal condemnation they ain't changing the stand which still has plenty of apologists anytime soon.....also note the AFLW will have the rule this season as well....so unfortunately it ain't going anywhere for the foreseeable future.. :thumbsdown

They dumped the sub rule though which was great.
We can only hope!
-
What a stupid clueless umpire :lol. The Hawks had the ball and there was no need to stop the play but he blows the whistle 10 secs after the free that makes everyone stop (especially us) and then calls advantage. Gifts the Hawks a goal.
20 all.
-
2.15pm Saturday 21 September 2021, round 23
Mark it down
Tom Lynch got a free for being blocked out of the contest
23 rounds but he got one
-
It would be quite fitting of our season if we do get up to win this meaningless game.
-
Miller did well again to spoil and turn over possession to us.
Nice rugby pass from George to Baker :lol.
Lynch marks but misses from 25 out :P.
21 all.

Pathetic defence there after a shocking miss by Lynch

23 rounds but he got one
As I told my wife, only because it's a dead rubber.
Never when our season is on the line.
-
Pathetic defence there after a shocking miss by Lynch
The million dollar man who regularly misses sitters! :lol
-
Don't care about the result TBH
Just enjoying the kids playing today
Collectively they've been good
-
We don't get HTB frees, Browny.
George actually had his best piece of play for the year.
Bolton marks between the posts and goals :gotigers.
Rich 4.3-27
Haw 4.3-27

Pathetic defence there after a shocking miss by Lynch

Yep his set shots are terrible
No routine, so ends up getting to close to the guy on the mark
-
2.15pm Saturday 21 September 2021, round 23
Mark it down
Tom Lynch got a free for being blocked out of the contest
23 rounds but he got one
...too bad his subsequent shot was in keeping with his season... :shh
-
Dow's foot skills are a bit of a worry....looks good otherwise...but it's a major flaw right now... :shh
-
From the tackle, Ross to Bolton to Baker 35 out. Misses.
28 - 27
-
Parker forces the Hawk off the ball. Dow offloads to Graham (Cotch to Graham 2017-GF-esque) but Graham misses on the run unlike in the Granny.
29 - 28
-
Baker should have had a shot :banghead
It was great play to that point
-
Cmon Lynch look alive
-
If Dimma ever plays Ross on the outside ever again, he should be sacked immediately.
-
Far too casual there young Sydney
-
Another elite kick from your boy Short...how many votes will you give him today? :shh
-
In just 5 seconds we saw why Dave Astbury has made the right call in retiring :facepalm
-
Astbury still wondering why he was called to play on when he didn't move off the mark.
29 - 35. Thanks ump!
-
Another clearance goal to the opposition. Poor defence as well as no one was on Wingard.
29 - 41
-
Another elite kick from your boy Short...how many votes will you give him today? :shh
Cheap shot Directed at me?
-
Poor defence again. No one sitting in the hole between the kicker and the forward.
-
Bolton to Lynch 45 out. Across the face and rushed through.
30 - 42
-
Astbury still wondering why he was called to play on when he didn't move off the mark.
29 - 35. Thanks ump!
I thought he went to play on
Right call by the Ump IMHO
-
Half-time
Richmond 3.2 4.6-30
Hawthorn 2.2 6.6-42
Goals: Bolton, Castagna, Chol, Lynch.
-
We're behind but some good signs with the young guys today
Not all doom and gloom
Miller doing good. RCD, Ross, Martyn and Dow doing well. Yes making errors but some things to like
CCJ needs to be more ferocious in contests... be more Nank like.
Chol being Chol floating in and floating out ;D
-
Another elite kick from your boy Short...how many votes will you give him today? :shh
Cheap shot Directed at me?
Unlike Short's kicking I'd say it was more "accurate" than "cheap"........... :shh
-
Me thinks CCJ may have some marshmallow tendencies. :rollin
-
You say that about half the side.... :shh
-
Astbury still wondering why he was called to play on when he didn't move off the mark.
29 - 35. Thanks ump!
I thought he went to play on
Right call by the Ump IMHO
Fair enough.
I'm probably reflecting that that call is not applied consistently to all teams.
-
You say that about half the side.... :shh
I call it as I see it. :shh :shh
-
Another elite kick from your boy Short...how many votes will you give him today? :shh
Cheap shot Directed at me?
Unlike Short's kicking I'd say it was more "accurate" than "cheap"........... :shh
No it was a cheap shot trying to bait me. :shh
And knowing what his role is today (a memberhip advantage this week compliments of zoom) he is doing what his been instructed to do
-
Me thinks CCJ may have some marshmallow tendencies. :rollin
We've had just 20 tackles in a whole half. That's one tackle per Tiger. Combined with SHocking's silly 'mark the game uncontested' rules, it's bruise-free footy out there. No one wants to get injured in a meaningless final round 23 game of the season.
Hawthorn is taking this far more seriously than we are. They actually care about winning.
-
The main thing that's cost us so far today is the main thing that's cost us all year - broken tackles... :shh
...anyway let them address in the pre-season, may it comtinue for at least two more quarters...I want high picks... :shh :shh
-
Astbury still wondering why he was called to play on when he didn't move off the mark.
29 - 35. Thanks ump!
I thought he went to play on
Right call by the Ump IMHO
Fair enough.
I'm probably reflecting that that call is not applied consistently to all teams.
Let's be honest no rules are applied consistently this season
Not even the AFL's beloved STAND rule
-

:yep.
-
You know things are crook whe your best, leading tackler of the season has not laid a tackle in the first half.
-
It sums up our poor goalkicking this year that we've had 7 marks inside 50 yet only kicked 4 goals in a half :P. Lynch missed another sitter but all up the whole team hasn't been able to kick over a jam tin all year. Shots 35-40m out not making the distance or sprayed wide.
-
Floss to Astbury to Naish switch off play to Kmac to Lynch in the pocket. Poster (tough shot to be fair).
31 - 43
-
We don't get 50s Eddie.
Should have been 50 to George. George then does a poor pass towards Kmac and it's turned over. Hawks run it up for a goal.
31 - 49
-
Great we re-signed Castagna with his elite turnovers :rollin :help
-
Got to take the mark first to be 50 Eddie, Browny and Dunstall.
Clear HTB free to us in the centre not paid either.
3rd qtr disposals: 21 - 55 .... we're not caring.
Another goal to them.
31 - 56
-
Anyway I’m seeing a bit of hope in the kids, some are going to make it.
Can’t wait for this years rule change to make the game worse, how do we vote these @&$ out
-
Hi St Kilda wins 😀
-
Jack finally takes a mark
Just on Jack he is captain today and he's been MIA today
Very disappointing
-
Graham on the turn over into the corridor to Bolton who finds Lynch 40 out. Passes it off to Jack 30 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 5.7-37
Haw 8.8-56
-
Chol wins his own clearance and delivers to George 35 out on a 45 degree angle. Misses.
38 - 56
Another set shot miss.
-
George misses😜
-
...and that's why Chol is so damn frustrating....can do amazing shyte for a big man just like that...but content to just jog around and not go in hard most of the time... :banghead
-
No one running to the goalsquare for George's tap. Point.
39 - 56
-
...and that's why Chol is so damn frustrating....can do amazing shyte for a big man just like that...but content to just jog around and not go in hard most of the time... :banghead
Yep. His best is great.
I don’t see heaps to like in RCD tbh.
Dow looks a better prospect to me.
-
RCD's playing like he's scared to make a mistake...Stack's having a shocker too... :shh
-
Another HTB not paid to us.
Stack then has a brainfade.
39 - 62
-
Is this rediculus " Stand" rule here to stay or is there any chance they scrap it now Hocking has gone?
-
Wow! We actually got a HTB free and a bonus it's close to goal :gobdrop.
Goal to Lynch :gotigers.
Rich 6.9-45
Haw 9.8-62
-
Hardwick coaching beautifully today. An honorable loss pkaying kids. Kudos to him.
-
Sts win tomorrow we have pick 7
-
Grimes showing Stack how to keep your cool coming out of defence.
Gets to Parker who finds Lynch 30 out. Misses.
Another set shot miss.
46 - 62
-
Oh course Grimes cops a high one and it's not a free.
-
Not one of our players standing in front of CCJ waiting for the tap in the fwd 50 then (or about a minute ago)...kind of shyte that's been going on all year... :banghead
-
I reckon RCD should be tried in the forward line
-
3/4 time
Richmond 3.2 4.6 6.10-46
Hawthorn 2.2 6.6 9.8-62
Goals: Lynch 2, Bolton, Castangna, Chol, Riewoldt.
Not that we care about the result but we've missed about 6 gettable set shots today.
-
Not one of our players standing in front of CCJ waiting for the tap in the fwd 50 then (or about a minute ago)...kind of shyte that's been going on all year... :banghead
Yep, being front and square is something that's been alien to our small forwards this year.
Weirdly George has been more a marking target while Lynch is the one doing more the ground level work.
-
Another 50 not paid ::).
SHocking's STAND rule doesn't apply to our opposition.
-
Ump calls Pickett to play when a Hawthorn player is running past right next to him :facepalm.
-
Of course we cop 50 for Pickett running through the 10m zone (dumb).
46 - 69
-
Great kick by Floss into the corridor opens up the play. Parker finds Bolton. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 7.10-52
Haw 10.9-69
-
Why didn’t Jack have a shot then?
-
Riewoldt needs to retire. Bloody hell!
-
Jack panics :facepalm :scream
-
Why not snap Jack?
-
Why wasn't that a free to Castagna for a hold
-
Order restored we are behind in the free kick count
-
Stack having a mare today.
-
Why wasn't that a free to Castagna for a hold
Because he plays for Richmond.
-
Stack having a mare today.
Yep been awful today
Of all the young guys he's stood out for all the wrong reasons
Just terrible today
-
Welcome to Round 23. Second time we've kicked it in defence 20m straight to a Hawks' forward.
-
lol at Grimes trying to get it to Dave when he wasn’t on at all.
-
Miller was our win today. Hes taking Astburys role next year.
-
Miller was our win today. Hes taking Astburys role next year.
He's one but there are a couple more
-
Game, set, match
We're done.
-
C'mon Sainters. Give us pick 7.
-
Hopefully we dont give our top 10 pick away
-
Stack moved forward and finally does something good today.
Rich 8.10-58
Haw 12.11-83
-
Stack having a mare today.
Yep been awful today
Of all the young guys he's stood out for all the wrong reasons
Just terrible today
Notice Sydney's wearing a black arm band so wonder if the reason for that has impacted on his performance today
Especially after he kicked that goal ..looked up to the heavens
-
Hopefully we dont give our top 10 pick away
Yep. It's rebuild time. Go to the draft.
-
Stack two in two minutes. Can thank Bolts for that one.
Rich 9.10-64
Haw 12.11-83
-
Aarts misses a sitter on the run
Pickett's indecision didn't help
-
Could it be a draw :lol
-
Aarts on. And misses running into an open goal :facepalm.
Who is off?
65 - 83
-
LOL. What a brainfade by that Hawks defender :lol.
Lynch goal :gotigers.
Rich 10.11-71
Haw 12.11-83
-
CCJ has his pants pulled down without the ball. Play on!
-
Another clear hold of CCJ
Flap and they say play on
-
CCJ held by the jumper and no free. Thank goodness this a meaningless game as the umps have been pathetic as usual following SHocking's dud rules and interpretations.
-
Jack goal (great kick) :gotigers.
Rich 11.11-77
Haw 12.11-83
34 secs to go.
-
LOL :lol
-
Glad it didn’t go for another 5 min , we might have won- lol
-
Could it be a draw :lol
:jump
I tipped this
-
Wtf are we doing.
-
Jack toe tap just gets across the line. Goal to tie the game :gotigers :lol
Rich 12.11-83
Haw 12.11-83

First ever draw with Hawthorn.

:ROTFL
-
Dimma great coaching. If saints win tomorriw we get pick 7.
-
Final Score
Richmond 3.2 4.6 6.10 12.11-83
Hawthorn 2.2 6.6 9.8 12.11-83
Goals: Lynch 3, Riewoldt 3, Bolton 2, Stack 2, Castagna, Chol.
That's all for the season folks!
-
Dimma great coaching. If saints win tomorriw we get pick 7.
Yep. Perfect result. Didn't lose the game and didn't cost us moving down the draft order.
-
Onya Bachar and Dave and thanks :bow :clapping.
-
Really believe it's not all doom and gloom for the future
Even before today's game I believed we'd bounce back next year and make finals
Today only reinforces that for me
-
Thank God, this season is over for us,
-
Dimma great coaching. If saints win tomorriw we get pick 7.
Yep. Perfect result. Didn't lose the game and didn't cost us moving down the draft order.
And don’t have to hear the 9th jokes
Great result all round for both teams. Blues move back a pick. That’s a shame.
-
There's much to work on in the pre-season but if we don't address our tackling first & foremost not much will change.... :shh
-
An extended break and big pre-season for the fellas is definitely a silver lining.
-
Clean ball and tackling has let us down this year
-
I enjoyed watching this game.
Was relaxed like I haven't been for years.
Kids looked good.

Report Card: Round 23
Foxsports
23 August 2021
RICHMOND
It was a performance fitting of Richmond’s season, with a sporadic formline throughout that had glimpses of the high-pressure, high-speed type of game they excel at. Getting as close as they did to the win is impressive given the 31-point deficit they were facing midway through the final term. It’s also worth noting this was a team devoid of a number of walk-up starters. As Damien Hardwick said pre-game, the team are tired after so many shortened pre-seasons and will be better for the rest come 2022.
In the votes
Jayden Short and Jack Ross were prolific, while David Astbury nearly broke his disposal record in his final game! Tom Lynch was great with 3.3 and can hopefully carry that form into next year. Jack Riewoldt’s resurgent season had a fitting conclusion as he kicked the last two goals of the game to create the draw. Riley Collier-Dawkins has shown more than enough in his games this season to suggest he’ll become a fine player.
Room for improvement
As good as the comeback was, giving the Hawks such a big lead was another sign of a side that just isn’t as rock solid as it once was. The Hawks had 79 more uncontested possessions too, which Alastair Clarkson would’ve loved as they picked their way through the Tigers’ defence. Marlion Pickett seems to be in no man’s land at the moment.

ONE POSITIVE AND ONE NEGATIVE FROM YOUR CLUB'S ROUND 23 PERFORMANCE
Andrew Slevison
SEN
23 August 2021
RICHMOND
Positive: Not giving up in dead rubber
The game was shot to bits with less than five minutes remaining.
Richmond trailed Hawthorn by 25 points and with nothing to play for, they could have easily rolled over.
But a young team simply wanted to win and almost pulled off the remarkable by kicking the last five goals resulting in a draw.
Sydney Stack moved forward and had an immediate impact with two goals while Jack Riewoldt bagged his 50th of the season from an acute angle before soccering home the tying goal, just inches from Shaun Burgoyne’s fingertips in his 407th and final game.
Another positive sign was that the centre bounce on-ball unit at one point read: Callum Coleman-Jones, Jack Ross, Will Martyn and Thomson Dow - a combined total of 43 AFL games’ experience.
It shows that Damien Hardwick is willing to hand opportunities to his developing players.
It was great to send David Astbury, who was superb in his final match, and Bachar Houli off in that manner even if it wasn’t with a win.
Negative: Gave up easy goals
The Tigers found themselves in a hole in the third quarter and early in the last, and it mainly came from a lack of desperation and awareness in defence.
That is bound to happen when you have a debutant in Ben Miller playing in a back six that has been unsettled all season due to injuries.
The Hawks kicked some very easy goals, making the most of the disorganised Tigers backline, before the defence tightened up and contributed to the eventual draw.
It is a season the club will be eager to see the back of as they look forward to a lengthy rest before firing up in 2022.
