Hopefully we win and put the pressure onto the Sunday brigade of Dogs, Saints, Blues
Put a score on the board and wait it out in the clubhouse
-
Not bad happy with that

Stay classy Bomber fans ::).
Injure that figjam Lynch
Give Hurley a farewell game. Hope get injures Lynch on the way out
GO THE KNUCKLE!
Kill these ■■■■■!!
To be fair most of them are dreading next week ;D.
We’re ■■■■■■■ ■■■■.
The end.
Out- 84 pt loss
In- 100 pt loss
You know the saying, you don’t change a winning team
Out - everyone.
We will bend over as Richmond ensure Lynch kicks 12 goals on Hurley to win the Coleman and we will like it
Thread name is cute, except they are minimum Eighthmond this year, and worlds apart better than us over the last 20 years.
And losing Graham, Edwards, without Martin, will flirt with 80+ win against us.
Not sure Hurley would want a farewell game if it’s gonna be an 80+ point shellacking.
Out: Me wasting my time attending the game
In: Doing something enjoyable on a Saturday night
This game will be a bloodbath
This will be another belting i urge people not to go save your selves the heart ache and money.
https://discourse.bomberblitz.com/t/changes-stuff-of-suffering-v-ninthmond/26955/77
We have a real knack of always playing Richmond when they hit a really great patch of form.
I know they’ve had a large number of these in recent seasons but they always hit a hot streak in the fixture just prior to our game.
Bolton going to kill us next week and our dumb coach wont do anything to stop him
Richmond are for all intents and purposes a top 4 team.
Their level this year should have them with about 3 more wins than they actually have. They managed to ■■■■■ up some games in spectacular fashion.
They’re probably still the best chance of a team knocking off Geelong.

And justvto add more spice....
Meida reporting massive "discontent" at the Bumblings and the President may quit
And just as an aside. Earlier this season there was talk Caracella might be in the gun at the Bumblings.
Might be a good time to make a play and bring him back.... increase in 2023 soft cap should cover it and another development coach
-
Yep. I like it.
That place is toxic. If caracella can’t bring success to those cheats, then they are stuffed. I suspect it his has something to do with clarko :shh
Get him back. Can we get truck back as well?

The caracella back to us is gaining momentum.

So will we get fired up Essendon playing for careers or bumbed out Bombers just waiting for the season to end?

Think they just want the year to end. They will lie down and take what's given to them.
At least we don't have to play a fresh coach and a team with something to prove again haha.
Poor Rutten that toxic club is destroying a good man.

Wanted to throw my arm around the poor bloke. Druggos are going to basically kill him mentally it's tragic.

who the hell is Hind anyway. Who the stuff does he think he is.
Truck must be thinking bloody hell it was a good gig at Punt Road. Paid well treated fairly.
That club is a disgrace. They will crush Clarkos legacy.

Caro and Eddie reckon Rutten will be cut tomorrow.
Depends now whether Rutten will see out their final game and coach on Saturday night or if Giansiracusa will take over.

Essendon v Richmond Preview
Laurence Rosen
SEN
19 August 2022
While Saturday’s clash between rivals Essendon and Richmond doesn’t really have much riding on it, there’s plenty of intrigue attached to it considering the week the Bombers have had.
While at the time of writing it is still unclear whether Ben Rutten will be coaching this week, there’s a genuine watch on how Essendon responds after a turbulent week following their 84-point hammering at the hands of Port Adelaide.
For the Tigers, their finals fate is essentially sealed – they’ll either finish seven or eight depending on other results.
It’s no stretch to say Essendon is a club in turmoil right now as they deal with a change of president, uncertainty over the coaching and a playing group that turned in two successive listless performances.
Michael Hurley’s farewell game will provide a welcome distraction and could provide a lift for the team, but we still expect Richmond to win this one easily as they sharpen up for finals.
Tip: Richmond by 37 points.

Clarkson to Norf.

In comparison yes I think he was only in the sense they had the discussion with him, he agreed to go immediately and they put it out in the open. Full media conference etc where Noble handled himself really well and even their President did well.
The Bumblings have gone into hiding. Where's their new President? They've left Rutten to be door stopped everyday this week. That's been gutless but not at all surprising
-
Noble was sacked.
Truck is still the coach and they want a guy with integrity to choose them. No chance.
I had a feeling when you heard Dimma and Clarko speak yesterday it was north.
They are a rabble.

No disputing Noble was sacked. But they way N0rt handled it was as well as something like that can be done.
The way Essendon have handled this week is appalling. The Prssident is MIA while he goes about trying to get Clarkson. Rutten is left ot deal with the media everyday.
The only Essendon person who has shown any decency this week was Hurley yesterday in hid retirement presser. His comments spoke volumes of what a rabble Essendon have become since the drug debacle

Assendon butchered this completely.
They needed to sack Rutten the day after Noble went and they would have likely got Clarkson.

We should win by 120 points this week.

Tigers’ burning question: Can they dodge the club-under-pressure sugar hit?
Richmond fans must sometimes think the footy gods are against them. Earlier this year they faced a North Melbourne side fresh off a coach sacking and it was Leigh Adams’ side that prevailed. Last year, the Roos again conquered Richmond after Brad Scott stepped down and was replaced by Rhyce Shaw. Now, they could very well face a side in Essendon led by a caretaker coach, or at the very least face a side that could be saying farewell to Ben Rutten. It’s another game where Richmond faces a side that could be unpredictable given the circumstances of the week. Can they come out on top this time?

Considering how wasteful we have been inside 50 at times this season it feels odd to know that I might have been watching the highest scoring team all year. At least it hasn't been boring.

THE 16 CERTAINTIES FOR THE REST OF ROUND 23
Nic Negrepontis
SEN
20 August 2022
Essendon v Richmond
Lynch to kick 3 or more goals
Tom Lynch is in white-hot form coming into this Saturday night clash, having kicked 16 goals in the last three rounds.
The Bombers are coming off a turbulent week and it’s hard to imagine their energy levels will be too high – not to mention their key defensive pillars have struggled all season.
He was held goalless when they met earlier in the season – but he kicked four behinds.
This looms as a Lynch fill-up, particularly with an outside shot at the Coleman on the line.
Parish and Merrett to combine for 50 or more disposals
Nothing is certain in Essendon’s world at the minute. A horrific season has exploded behind the scenes and it’s impossible to predict what they will dish up on Saturday night.
One thing you can probably rely on is Zach Merrett and Darcy Parish finding the footy in some capacity.
Expect the pair to roam as they please against a Richmond midfield that does not tag.

Touchwood no injuries tonight. That's the main thing :pray.

Forced the turnover on the wing. Prestia to Jack at HF who finds Cumberland 30 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Ess 0.0-0
-
Not much defence at this stage both ways.
They get an easy center clearance goal and we get one right back. Prestia out of the middle. Cumberland out the back kicks his 2nd :gotigers
Rich 2.0-12
Ess 1.0-6
-
That's HTB. The Essendon player just put the ball on the ground ::).
-
Lynch shepherded out of it (not paid) but Prestia goals anyway :gotigers
Rich 3.1-19
Ess 1.2-8
-
Ross centres it to Sheds. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.1-25
Ess 1.2-8
-
Dimma won't be happy about the centre clearances so far. Too many easy ones to Essendon.
25 - 14
-
Balta has started well. Finds Lynch in the pocket. Misses.
26 - 14
-
Ross watches the ball and keeps it in when everyone stopped there. On ya Maurice. Crumbs the goal :gotigers
Rich 5.2-32
Ess 2.2-14
-
Ross is doing well so far. Again centres the kick to Kmac who then chips to Prestia. Misses.
33 - 14
-
That one was there (silly by Marlion) but ...
Frees: 1 - 6 ::)
-
Did our best to give up another goal in the last minute but they kick it OOTF and we go up the other end in 15 secs thanks to a 50m penalty. Miller gets the free (yes we are out there ump) and goals after the siren :gotigers
Quarter time
Richmond 6.3-39
Essendon 3.2-20
Goals: Cumberland 2, Edwards, Miller, Prestia, M,Rioli.
-
Ross is doing well so far. Again centres the kick to Kmac who then chips to Prestia. Misses.
33 - 14
He has shown really good poise and composure on a couple of occasions inside 50. Starting to feel like he belongs at the level?

Need to tidy up our centre clearances.
Winning so far on efficinency.

-
That was terrible defending allowing Parish to just barge through there and kick that goal.
Dead set peeweak
-
We don't want injuries but too much bruise free footy and heads not in the game at the start of this qtr. Just assumed the ball was going over the line which allowed Essendon to keep it in and go forward.
39 - 32
-
Sheesh I wish they'd pay those high frees to Lynch and Jack
-
Dan Rioli clearly cops one high = no free ::).
Then they pay push in the back to them ::).
-
Ross to Prestia on 50. Goes long and misses.
40 - 33
-
Fmd the umps are having their way with us this quarter. Very lazy on the stand rule with the druggos
-
OMG we actually got a free (Lynch on the wing).
Jack mark and goal :gotigers
Rich 7.4-46
Ess 5.4-34
-
Ross playing his best game since his debut.
Off to Baker who hits up Maurice 35 out. Falls short. Off hands and Sheds waltzs into an open goal :gotigers
Rich 8.4-52
Ess 5.4-34
-
Great job Marlion on Stringer. Total accident but I don't mind at all
-
Richmond players don't apparently have heads to get high tonight ::).
-
I do not like umpire #10
-
We tap and knock it forward. Sonsie on the left misses from 40.
53 - 34
-
I do not like umpire #10
He might as well be wearing an Essendon jumper.
-
Dumb by Baker. Our players should know by now that are whistle happy tonight.
53 - 40
-
Pathetic 50m there but plain dumb from Baker
-
Maurice did well at HB. Just gave us time.
We break out of their defence. Miller has Cumberland all alone in F50 and he goals :gotigers
Rich 9.5-59
Ess 6.4-40
-
Gee our defense is leaky. Won't win a final if we are this complacent.
I like Miller's game tonight he looks like he can play basically anywhere. Forward, back, ruck, wing.
-
How good is Sonsie in tight for a first year player!
Nank should have just focused on kicking at goal in the first place. Misses.
60 - 40
-
Gee our defense is leaky. Won't win a final if we are this complacent.
We're playing bruise free footy tonight.
-
Its our midfield and our defence. I dont like how essendon have gone through us a few times. Its been too easy.
-
Don’t they pay incorrect disposal anymore? How many times have Essendon dropped the ball?
-
Lucky there. Free to Lynch 35 out but could have stuffed that up taking the advantage. Miller to Jack under pressure off to Edwards who snaps the goal :gotigers
Rich 10.6-66
Ess 6.6-42
-
Miller continuing his good work in the 22 tonight.
-
Gee our defense is leaky. Won't win a final if we are this complacent.
We're playing bruise free footy tonight.
Probably correct but I don't like it for a few reasons.
I stuffing hate the druggos
Finals next week, would rather just stay hot and on the hunt.
I stuffing hate essendon
-
One arm Rugby throw by Essendon on the wing not paid ::)
-
Gee our defense is leaky. Won't win a final if we are this complacent.
We're playing bruise free footy tonight.
Yeah this won't get us anywhere but considering it's a dead rubber it's an entertaining game of round 23 footy. I have one eye on kicking 128 points to end the season as top scorers. Channeling my inner Chris Scott: "I don't think the league does a good enough job of celebrating it's top H&A scoring team."
But yeah, we would want to bring a lot more heat than this in two weeks' time. Can't be letting teams boot 50 by half time.
-
Half-time
Richmond 6.3 10.7-67
Essendon 3.2 7.6-48
Goals: Cumberland 3, Edwards 3, Riewoldt, Miller, Prestia, M,Rioli.
Feels like we're going through the motions. Hardly any pressure or proper team defence at all out there. As we've said bruise free footy. It's effectively a shootout.
-
Ross playing a ripper
-
So far so OK...
But what's up with socks? Some of our guys have the classic hoops, some plain black and I'm pretty sure that I spotted a pair with the purple Alannah & Madeline hoop.
Anyway, go Tiges!
-
Grimes gets a game straight into our defence. Who misses out I'm not sure but we do miss him down back.

Miller continuing his good work in the 22 tonight.
Agree. He’s a cool head and he has good skills and his decision making is very good.
-
Grimes gets a game straight into our defence. Who misses out I'm not sure but we do miss him down back.
Presumably Gibcus. However, no certainties by the sound of it Grimes comes back this year given it was a nasty high up hammy. Earliest Prelim week if he does come back.
-
Grimes gets a game straight into our defence. Who misses out I'm not sure but we do miss him down back.
Gibcus. Has dropped off considerably from the start of the season. First year player so understandable.
Grimes won’t be fit until deep into finals but I’d still be inclined to drop him and just play an extra mid (depending on oppo forward matchups). Just not sure what he’s really adding to the side atm.
-
Our 2 wingers are lazy at thr moment. McIntosh in particular so far.
-
Only took to the 3rd quarter to get a head high free!
Cotch goal :gotigers

I noticed it last week with the socks
Interesting

Bolts lucky goal :gotigers bounces in the goalsquare with Essendon defenders too worried about Jack.
Rich 12.7-79

Got to love how the umps have finally realised we are out there.

Umps being nicer to us this quarter.
Looks like the boys have decided to put the game away so they can cruise again in the final quarter.
Enjoying Lynch beat up on an undersized Laverde.
-
Gee Nank couldn't you stand in front of Peter there pfft
-
That's a minute of terrible D50 footy we won't want to see back :P. Balta's lazy kick too low straight to a Bomber and then allowing Wright to mark a high ball uncontested 10m out :banghead.
-
Sonsie all class again. To Bolts 40 out. Misses.
105 - 55
-
Oddly enough, I'm more concerned about us picking up an injury while we are mentally switched off like this than if we had our heads in the game a bit more.
-
Pickett pulls the kick into the hole and Maurice marks 40 out. Falls short and rushed.
106 - 55
-
Will likely finish as top scorers with 4th highest percentage now. Currently 121%.
-
Heppell tackled, drops the ball one handed (no free) and then the ump pays him a free ::). Talk about charity! This isn't Auskick ump! :facepalm
-
3/4 time
Richmond 6.3 10.7 16.10-106
Essendon 3.2 7.6 9.8-62
Goals: Lynch 3, Cumberland 3, Edwards 3, Riewoldt, Miller, Prestia, M,Rioli, Cotchin, Bolton, McIntosh.
Put the foot down in the first 15 mins of the qtr and then took it off and went back to going through the motions bruise free footy again.
-
Looks like the cue's in the rack again.
Expect some junk time crap. Dons will run hard to save some embarrassment like it matters.
Gosh I feel for Rutten. Crap list, crap board, crap culture, literally the whole club is rotten inside and out.

62 up, 75 will be our biggest ever win against Essendon. But I reckon we will put the cue in the rack soon.
-
Lynch subbed off. Ch 7 saying he felt his groin? Hopefully precautionary :-\.
George on.
-
Lynch hurt, or "hurt"?
Week off so hopefully nothing major.
Looks like we're now the highest scoring team for the year. Good job Teague.
-
Man that better be precautionary for lynch. Rather have lost the game than for that to be a legit injury.
-
Went down to rooms
Praying not serious.

HTF is that not HTB? Seriously! ::)

10 goals without trying. No worries.
Krect.

First time we have finished 7th since 1981.
-
Watching Lynch zip over for a photo in his interview.
Groin is fine lol. Just an excuse to bench another critical player along with Bolton and Prestia who both got taken off I think.
-
66 points was also our fifth biggest ever win over Essendon.
And tonight was also our sixth highest score against them and our highest in 40 years (since Round 3, 1982).

I remember that last game vs the cheats and bloody Fitzroy got up against the pies. Devastated! :'(

I’ve written about the Tigers so often since starting The Mongrel Punt at the conclusion of the 2017 season – you could argue I have seen the absolute best this club has to offer, and as such, I, and you, can sense when the Richmond Football Club know they have a team wounded.
It’s at that point they go for the kill.

Watching the replay as couldn't watch the game.
Umpiring in first half terrible against us.
We didn't help ourselves but so many soft ones.
-
"... That show of respect from ‘Cotch’ (Trent Cotchin) and ‘Dimma’ (Damien Hardwick) and the Richmond boys was something I’ll remember forever. It’s pretty special for those guys to have that thought midgame and allow me to celebrate that goal and to thank the fans.” - Michael Hurley.

I think our club is the trend setter in these sort of sportsmanlike gestures.
IIRC we were also the first to join in the opposition guard of honour when a player was having the celebratory carry off the ground after a major milestone or retirement.
Maybe it was Steve Silvagni’s 300th. Go to about the 10 minute mark of the video below

You may be right, Tigeritis. Back then it wasn't the thing to do (especially for the arch enemy) and not sure we would've done it had we lost that game.
By the way, I was sitting in the stand right behind Brodders when he kicked that goal :thumbsup.
ps. Our current CEO wouldn't want to see that kick straight to Craig Bradley for a Blues goal again :snidegrin.

I could see Cotch smiling before hurley even took the shot.
No tigers crowding the side or a snap, nobody trying to put him off.
Pure sportsmanship and happiness for him.

Pretty sure broad deliberately left him alone too. You can see him charging to the 50 line for absolutely no reason. And then yeah as you say no1 guarding the space in case he played on for a banana.

Things we have learned from Round 23: Richmond owns Essendon
Richmond absolutely loves playing Essendon.
Saturday’s demolition job was their 12th 13th win in a row over the Dons, and they’ve won those games in comfortable fashion more often than not, with the average margin in that streak being more than four goals.
For what was once one of the game’s great rivalries, the Dons haven’t given a yelp in recent seasons when playing the Tigers.
Richmond’s had a better team than Essendon for just about the last decade, but to barely even offer some sort of resistance when playing the Tigers is truly damning.
The Bombers modelled themselves on Richmond after they began to taste the ultimate success, with the club poaching ex-Tiger figures in Ben Rutten, Blake Caracella and Dan Richardson … but for whatever reason, they haven’t gotten close to replicating the success of their rivals.
It’s hard to see this dominance ending any time soon, even with a new coach in charge.

Nice little vote of confidence for Jack Ross
