Said on the other thread but need a win and a blues loss to qualify for finals.
Or win by 10 goals more than Carlton does ;D.
Carlton is playing Collingwood on Sunday by the way.

Gone from not much height to stacked in the magoos
-
I hope we rookie that Tyler Young good prospect.
-
Bump. About to start. Live on Ch 7.
The Frankston coach just told his players he doesn't care about the scoreboard or the result, he just wants them to "have a good day".
-
Ch 7 just gone down. Figures
-
They should go to the strippers
-
We've got the breeze in the first quarter.
From the F50 ball-up, Juddy Clarke kicks the first of the day :gotigers.
Rich 1.0-6
stuff 0.0-0
-
Not sure how 52 gets a game but anyway.
Goal to J Clarke.
-
Mansell on the wing to Clarke to Dow just outside 50. Finds Stack on 50. Misses.
7 - 0
-
Street's kick goes through but it was touched.
8 - 0
-
Pretty ordinary defending
8-7
-
Turned over (Clarke tackled while trying to handball). All our mids had run forward of the ball (none protecting the defensive side) which allowed Frankston to goal :facepalm.
8 - 6
-
We are kicking with a 4-5 goal breeze
-
Nice snap Clarke again. 14-7
-
15-14.
Really sloppy forward entries for us.
Every time they go forward they look dangerous
Butchering the wind advantage
-
Dumb footy so far :facepalm. We've continually bombed it to numbers inside 50 but can't mark yet they go in against the breeze and we get outmarked because we're playing from behind as the ball drops short :facepalm.
-
Not a great game to watch so far
Turnovers galore from us.
-
We've got the breeze and no one wants to take a shot even from 50 out? Stuffing around with it inside F50.
Another point from a F50 stoppage. Bauer's snap misses.
16 - 14
-
RCD marks 40 out on grandstand boundary. Kicks to the goalsquare and it's spoiled OOB. Aarts snap is OOTF! :P
As pmac says we're just butchering this quarter with the breeze.
-
These are the worst skills I've seen all year.
Kicking is embarrassing
-
Ball-up by the boundary 35 out and Soldo gets the free. Doesn't take the shot either :banghead. Goes back and across and the kick long goes nowhere and spoiled again :banghead.
-
Samson has dropped every mark today.
-
What a crap quarter! How not to play with the breeze :facepalm :banghead.
Quarter time
Richmond 2.4-16
Frankston 2.2-14
Goals: Clarke 2.
-
We have drafted players who simply can't kick the footy
RCD
Dow
Aarts
Martyn
Plus others.
-
17 inside 50s for just 6 scores with the breeze.
Frankston had 4 scores from just 7 inside 50s against the breeze.
:facepalm

https://www.afl.com.au/vfl/matches/4344#player-stats
For some reason the player stats page on the AFL website isn't working?
-
Samson and our other forwards you need to play in front when the team is kicking into a breeze.
-
Not sure what Dow was thinking with the backwards handball?
Anyway we get it back and Samson marks 50 out into the breeze. For some bizarre reason he now wants to take the long shot and kicks it OOTF!
Have our players got the ends and breeze mixed up? :huh
-
Geez we are butchering the ball today.
Finally Bauer centres it to Soldo 35 out. Misses.
17 - 14
-
Banks is a classy player imho
-
Mansell kicks it long, it holds up and Bauer playing in front marks it virtually uncontested 30 out.
Misses as well :P.
18 - 15
-
Bauer misses but I reckon the wind is causing problems with the kicking.
-
Another woeful display of defending and we cough up a soft goal. Two Tiger defenders fumble the ball allowing the Frankston forward to goal :facepalm
18 - 21
-
It's amateur hour. Goal after fumbling in defense.
We now trail.
-
Hugo out of the centre hits up Bauer in the pocket. Misses.
19 - 21
Bloke in the crowd told Bauer to start it left. Didn't listen to him. Bloke then tells Bauer "told you!".
Crowd getting frustrated with the dumbness of the team.
-
If we're serious about winning Mate shouldn't be playing but obviously playing the long game.
He's a liability
-
That last minute sums us up today.
Martyn coming out of defence kicks it OOTF!
Hicks short 15m pass misses teammate. Gifts Frankston a goal.
Seriously, amateur hour today :banghead.
19 - 27
-
The skills on some are so poor.
-
Tell you what no. 52 is hopeless. Turns over an 8 metres kick under no pressure.
Then gives up on the chase.
Another one to them.
-
Bauer misses but I reckon the wind is causing problems with the kicking.
Breeze not affecting Frankston who are a bottom 4 side. We are just playing crap. Heads not in the game.
-
Elliot snap 25 out doesn't make the distance :P and it's rushed.
20 - 27
-
My god Brown looks a bust at this stage. A big off season me thinks.
-
Finally we kick one! :gotigers
Aarts hands out to space. Clarke through the middle finds Melville on 50. He then finds Bauer 25 out.
Rich 3.8-26
stuff 4.3-27
-
Finally someone who can kick gets in JClarke.
Bauer finally gets one.
-
Another easy goal to them
-
Another soft goal straight from the centrebounce. Tigers ballwatching and not putting their body in or tackling (Hugo!) :banghead.
26 - 33
-
I cant see how will martyn becomes a regular senior afl player at richmond.
-
You dumb umpire! We had the ball in the goalsquare for an open goal? Where's the advantage?
Street kicks the goal from 30 out anyway :gotigers
Rich 4.8-32
stuff 5.3-33
-
I cant see how will martyn becomes a regular senior afl player at richmond.
You would reckon he is playing his last game for us if our VFL side doesn't play finals. He's out of contract.
-
Street is very selfish
-
Melville fumbles the ball. Street gathers it and snaps a point from the pocket.
33 all.
-
Half-time
Richmond 2.4 4.9-33
Frankston 2.2 5.3-33
Goals: Clarke 2, Bauer, Street.

Hicks long and Samson finally holds onto one 25 out. Goal! :gotigers
In front!
Rich 5.9-39
stuff 5.3-33
-
We get nothing from the umpires
-
Clarke bursts through the middle. Kicks it on the run hoping for the breeze to pull it back and it didn't. Misses.
40 - 35
-
Samson volleys the very short throw-in and it just clips the inside of the left post.
41 - 35
-
Nice speckie from Stack at HF but his shanks the kick and Frankston clear.
We get it back on transition and Bauer marks in the pockets. Passes it off to Banks on a better angle but further out. Misses.
42 - 35

Both teams turning it over.
Kick by the Dolphin defender is intercepted by Hugo 35 out. Goal! :gotigers

My god Brown looks a bust at this stage. A big off season me thinks.
Been watching him closely today (albeit on the TV) but gee he's been poor.
No intent at contests and very reactionary

RCD out of the centre. Bauer marks 45 out. Nice shot. Goal! :gotigers

Two throws by Frankston players not called ::).

My god Brown looks a bust at this stage. A big off season me thinks.
Dow also a bust.
-
Stack 55 out. Runs to 50 but doesn't start it at the right goal post and it misses left.
55 - 36
-
Aarts finds Hicks 35 out. Misses.
START RIGHT BLOODY GOAL POST!
56 - 37
-
My god Brown looks a bust at this stage. A big off season me thinks.
Dow also a bust.
He is one who looks good- well at least to me.

That was HTB first yet the ump pays the second hold to Frankston ::).

Dow also a bust.
He is one who looks good- well at least to me.
I don't think he is a bust yet
But has developed a few bad habits as the season has progressed. Number 1 for mine is not going hard a certain times at contests.
-
Another wasted qtr in front of goal.
3.5, should have been at keast 5.3. Set shot kicking has been deplorable

3.5, should have been at keast 5.3. Set shot kicking has been deplorable
It's amazing how the average fan knows today they need to aim for the right goal post at that northern end and yet our players don't :facepalm :banghead.
-
Out of the centre RCD to Hugo who shoots on the run from 40 but misses.
57 - 38
-
Would not suprise if we go down here.
Goal them coast to coast.
-
Free given away by Nathan in defence. Gifts them a goal :banghead.
57 - 44
Keeping it in with our misses and dumbness.
-
Out of the centre RCD to Hugo who shoots on the run from 40 but misses.
57 - 38
Complete waste there by Hugo. Noa excuse for that
The Frankston takes it through other end Nathan gives away a stupid free and they goal
-
RCD doing well out of the middle.
-
Do we have forward crumbers? Every time the ball spills from our talls there's no one at ground level front and square.
-
Mistackle after mistackle there. Another soft goal to Frankston. Embarrassing!
57 - 50
-
7 points in it now.
-
Really good example there of the bad habits Dow has developed. Needed to attack but just stood there
Nathan is sadly not up to VFL standard, cost us another one
-
Umpiring all Frankstons way
-
Our VFL listers have been ordinary today. Simple handball to Hugo missed him and Frankston are gifted the ball.
-
Hugo has been great but he needs to go a bit harder at times.
1 point game.
-
Poor effort Hugo. Need to take the ball and tackle didn't
Yes the handball was crap but you had to take the hit Hugo
-
Another goal to them.
57 - 56
We're just throwing this away. Don't want it enough.
-
Deep trouble now
Our VFL listers have been ordinary today. Simple handball to Hugo missed him and Frankston are gifted the ball.
Yep, some are not up to VFL standard
-
Henderson ordinary centering kick and it's rushed.
58 - 56
-
Bauer. Idiotic attempted mark nearly kills himself.
-
Big. Has he done anything today? Let’s hugo attack contests while he stands at the back looking at the sky
-
Gifting them this game. Getting smashed around the ball. Just not putting the body in. Too many Tigers ballwatching.
58 - 62
-
If we can't beat Frankston we shouldn't be playing finals.
We've been really poor today.
Just not up to it
-
Kane Lambert in Steve Morris out. Struggling to make the 8 not good enough.
-
Big. Has he done anything today? Let’s hugo attack contests while he stands at the back looking at the sky
Needed to his the body when trying to spoil from the kick out. He and Brown need to harden up.
-
Hit a target Dow! That's twice under no pressure running through the centre.
-
Damn, we are throwing away a double Ninthton opportunity. Imagine if they just missed out on finals in AFL and VFL. :lol
-
Can't have Mate in the ruck given the circumstances.
-
Bauer stubs his toe from 15m out this is comical
-
Only way we looked like winning the ball. Via a Frankston brainfade.
Bauer gets the HTB free 25 out. However, he has another brainfade and stubs his toe and it goes OOBs for a throw-in : :help.
-
stuff me, he didn't make the distance
-
See Brown stop when he should have spoiled.
-
Refuses body contact and the coaching group are concerned :shh
-
And there's the reason I'm not sure about Clarke. Pulled out of a contest there. P
-
Soldo out of the ruck, kicks long and Samson marks 45 out. Misses.
59 - 63
-
Watching this game is bad enough but this female commentator doesnt make sense with her special comments. Very annoying.
-
Banks on the outside of his right drops short and Soldo marks 15 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 8.17-65
stuff 9.9-63
-
Refuses body contact and the coaching group are concerned :shh
Yep
-
Classic Aarts rushed turnover kick :facepalm
-
Bauer has just cost the VFL it's season.
-
Gee I love the look of Banks
Got a good one there I reckon
Aarts doing Aarts things
I think Bauer just cost us the game, stupid, stupid play
-
Bauer marks inside 50 but tries to give it off because he doesn't want the kick. Turns it over and Frankston go coast to coast for goal :banghead
65 - 69
-
Is this real?
-
And Aarts with another turnover
-
Very poor game awareness
-
Aarts shouldn't be no way near in the vfl.
-
Hugo misses another gettable shot.
66 - 69
-
Clarke :gotigers
Rich 9.18-72
stuff 10.9-69
-
Huge goal and well done to Stack for the contest.
-
Werribee beat the Bullants 191-10 :o
-
Got out of jail there
-
Siren! Won by 3 pts.
:phew
-
My goodness...take it.
-
Werribee beat the Bullants 191-10 :o
That's 10 behinds, no goals :gobdrop
-
Did their best to lose that.
-
Bauer kind of redeemed himself with that late mark after stuffing up so many times and almost costing us the game.
Massive pats on the back to Banks today. He was the one who stood out and stood up for mine just from a clear head under pressure point of view. While others panicked and had brainfades around him, he kept his head and knew where to put himself and knew what correct option to take. Very impressive today.
-
Banks and Judson are going to be long term players. Brown is a concern at the moment but its only early for all of them. Banks is a 200 gamer at AFL level.
-
Thought Stack and RCD were important in the last few minutes
Why they had Colina in the ruck for the last 3 minutes was bizarre
-
RCD showed a lot of understanding. His work out of the middle was good too.
-
RCD showed a lot of understanding. His work out of the middle was good too.
Agree but not that it means anything
He won't get a chance at AFL level. Clear as day
-
Final Score
Richmond 2.4 4.9 7.14 9.18-72
Frankston 2.2 5.3 5.8 10.9-69
Goals: Clarke 3, Bauer 2, Ralphsmith, Ryan, Soldo, Street.
The irony is we had almost the same number of shots as the seniors did last week. Kick 19.8 and it would've been a comfortable win and % boost that probably would've secured finals; But we pathetically kicked 9.18 and almost threw it away. Lucky in the end to get away with it as bad kicking is bad footy.
We now need to rely on Collingwood beating Carlton tomorrow to play finals.
-
Sadly I agree
-
gee we have some average players coming through.
Bauer nearly threw it away like many have done in our seniors.
Relying on the pies now. :banghead
-

They cant all be good but Banks and Juddy have class, Brown its too early, RCD has improved but needs opportunity, Ryan has improved a lot. We have some decent kids imho.

Not much after those you mentioned. The biggest improver i see is Sampson. RCD needs games in the seniors.
Clarke looks classy at VFL level.
Dow looks like he wont make it IMO. Doesnt look much better than his brother
-
I agree on dow. I dont think martyn will make it either.

Clarke the hero as VFL Tigers clinch a thrilling win
By Brenton Mann
Richmond Media
20 August 2022
“Get out there and play with a smile on your face.”
That was Steve Morris’ plea to his side before the Tigers’ season-defining clash with Frankston at the Swinburne Centre.
A man with a glowing smile that you could see from Mars, Judson Clarke was the match-winner, with a left-foot checkside goal in the dying minutes, ensuring Richmond kept its finals hope alive.
The Tigers scraped over the line by three points as Frankston pushed them to the brink in a frantic final term, the scoreboard reading, 9.18 (72) to 10.9 (69).
Richmond set-up the victory with a three-goal third term whilst holding Frankston goalless, but the Tigers found themselves on the ropes as a Dolphins four-goal blitz swung the lead their way.
Frankston threw caution to the wind, slinging forward at all costs, catching the Tigers off guard, which led to a five-goal final term for the Dolphins.
Ivan Soldo looked to be the saviour, standing tall at the top of the square late in the last quarter, handing Richmond back the lead.
However, the Dolphins willed the ball forward from the restart, got in behind the Tigers’ defence and recaptured the lead in the blink of an eye.
Richmond had seen this movie before in 2022 and put into practice the lessons learnt.
The Tigers showed composure amongst the chaos.
Clarke skated onto a Sam Banks' kick inside 50, steadied and slid through the match-winner in the Punt Road Oval shadows.
Richmond’s finals’ hopes were dangling precariously, with victory over the Dolphins imperative for the Tigers to advance, which also hinged on either Gold Coast or Carlton losing also, or catching Box Hill on percentage.
A little under an hour before the first bounce at the Swinburne Centre, the Suns snuck over the line by five points over North Melbourne across town at Arden St.
The veil of uncertainty is still hovering over Richmond after Saturday’s result, and it will so until the final siren of Carlton v Collingwood at roughly two-thirty on Sunday.
In a game where the outcome had serious ramifications, the budding Tigers could have been forgiven for playing tight due to finals being on the cards.
That wasn’t the case, however.
After losing the opening centre clearance, Richmond displayed the traits that have been the hallmark of their success over the years.
The Tigers moved the ball with fluidity, which came unstuck at times and led to Frankston goals, but that didn’t deter Richmond unleashing the ball with freedom.
Clarke played the role of fire-starter, teaming seamlessly with Ivan Soldo to snap the opening goal of the game.
Clarke swung onto his left later in the quarter, snapping his second goal, this time from a forward-50 stoppage.
The Dolphins tightened the contest, turning into a dogfight.
Richmond was able to play the game in its half for the majority of the opening term, however the fluky breeze made it tricky to find connection inside 50.
The Tigers held a two-point lead at the first break, however, Frankston took that lead with two swift goals midway through the second term.
The Dolphins turned the table at the coalface, as the Tigers struggled with their ball security.
Hugo Ralphsmith’s mane glistened in the winter sun, as the dashing defender injected speed and creativity into Richmond’s ball movement, igniting his teammates to follow suit.
Jacob Bauer wrapped his mitts around the Sherrin deep inside 50, snapping the Tigers’ opening goal on the second quarter, cutting the deficit to a miserly point.
Frankston hit back with venom from the restart, but this sprung the Tigers into action once again.
Skipper Lachlan Street has kicked goals in big moments during his reign, and his goal late in the second term and subsequent point to level-up the scores by half-time may prove to be his defining act of the home-and-away season.
The wave of momentum grew for Richmond in the third term, with Samson Ryan slotting an early goal on the back of grunt and poise from Ralphsmith, Tom Brown and Angus Hicks.
The goal handed the Tigers back the lead, which they steadily built on throughout the quarter.
Bauer had a day where the ball wasn’t exactly obeying his every command, but the key forward just kept presenting and Dow hit him up lace-out just inside the paint of 50.
Bauer is generally unerring in front of goal, and this was no exception, he pumped his right fist in a fashion which has become his trademark.
After shanking a shot at goal in the final quarter, the 20-year-old kept his head in the game, dropping back behind the ball and clinging onto a match-saving mark in the dying moments.
Richmond had pushed the Tiger Army’s collective heart to the limit, but the team's finals hopes are flickering for at least one more day.

Woeful game on so many levels :snidegrin

Shocking.
Our season may be done here. Pies are hopeless.

Unlike their seniors, Collingwood's ressies had nothing to play for as they were safe and couldn't make top 4. They played like it.
Our VFL side has only got themselves to blame. Not just for dreadful goalkicking yesterday that cost us a chunk of percentage but also for losing that home game in the last minute against Collingwood six weeks ago. Ultimately that game cost our VFL side finals. It was the difference between 5th and 9th.
-
I feel Kane Lambert should coach the VFL and assist at Senior level. Ben Rutten should come back as our defensive coach. Hed do wonders for Gibcus and Balta.
-
Our development has suffered from our cuts and it’s really telling considering how far backwards we have gone in that regard. :shh
We should never skimp on our investment in development.
Hopefully we can utilise some of our retirees in our development program. It’s as important as recruiting and you could probably make a case that it’s the most important element.
Other clubs ie. Sydney, Geelong can invest but for some reason we aren’t allowed to spend money on our footy department :shh :rollin
-
Not sure what the criticism for don't forget the we loss 4 quality players to our seniors Sonsie , Cumberland , Miller and Rioli how can you say they haven't developed well Morris not doing his job ?. Banks , Clarke ,Ryan and Bauer looking good to.
-
Geelong's VFL team finished 16th with just 7 wins. The Cats rarely now develop their own young draftees (De Koning and Holmes aside). They poach instead for ready-made experience and the quickest impact at AFL level be it older players from other AFL clubs or 20-something state league players like Atkins and Close.
As for the Swans, they have had their academy which has handed them guys like Heeney, Mills, Gulden and co. on the cheap. Also while we were going back-to-back in the AFL, they spent those two years in the bottom 4 hitting the draft before rising again.

So the Essendrug now have to pay out Rutten 600k does that come out of the soft cap?
Hawks had to pay Clarkson 1 million does that come out of their soft cap?
………but we can’t spend any more money because soft cap space and penalties :rollin

Hawthorn are paying $50k in tax for exceeding the soft cap for that Clarkson payout and have had to spread his payout over two years so it wasn't in one hit. So it will affect next year as well.
There was talk a week or so ago that Essendon would be paying that tax too if Rutten goes. They're a rabble anyway.
They're both bottom clubs that will have long rebuilds so hardly examples for us to copy. On the other hand, we're still making and playing finals at AFL level while regenerating on the run and bringing in 5 cubs in one year into our AFL team (Miller, Gibcus, Sonsie, Cumberland & Maurice).

I'll ignore you continually trolling and clear baiting of me regarding the soft cap >:(
But in answer to your question
Yes any payout to Rutten and any other contracted coach at Essendon will come out of their soft cap
Their new president has already said they will pay the soft cap tax if needed. 6 days into the job and he is happily tearing a club apart without considering the ramifications. He's clearly got a "Focus on Footy" :shh

It would be hilarious if their "external review" comes back and says Rutten wasn't the problem lol.

50k tax? Whoopee doo da.
Norf too has sacked a coach and have spent big bucks on Clarkson.
You blokes make it seem like it’s worse thing that in the world could happen
If you want good people pay for them. We aren’t a minor club we are a powerhouse with the biggest membership in the AFL.
Yet if we want to skimp on development it will be an issue eventually, let’s not let it happen and spend the money required for an excellent development program and if we spend too much so be it.
Also we should be investing more in the AFLW, have we committed to a VFLW team yet?
-
Dons and Hawks aren't exactly doing very well compared to us.
Seems our kids are coming good too.

I don't think we want to go down the route of frivolous, carefree spending ("to hell with the consequences, spend the cash!") when in historical terms we have only just got our books balanced and business profitable. Before we were successful on-field they had to restore performance off-field, and that began by going cap in hand to members for hard cash to pay off the debt.
I don't mind good financial governance.

Well exactly my point. We weren’t known for excellent financial management when Graeme Richmond and co were willing to do anything to get the players he wanted.
Post salary cap we as you have correctly pointed out a basket case and we all had to do our bit to raise money to keep our club going.
Since Gale we are now in a great financial position and we are back to being a greatest club in the land.
What I’m saying is that it won’t end well if we don’t invest more in development and if that means spending more now whilst cuts have been made to the soft cap even if there are penalties involved isn’t the end of the world now (lesser clubs don’t seem to be worried that about it) considering our financial position is very strong unlike it was in the ‘80’s.
For that reason we shouldn’t be skimping on our development program and spend the necessary money so we don’t find out in the next four or five years it’s too late.
A fine hear and there isn’t as big of a deal as it would have been when say Plow was coach.

I know what you're saying, but I take a longer term view, and I also think it's easy to misinterpret a perfectly natural post-dynasty decline (a simple result of lesser draft talent coming through) as mismanagement and a lack of conviction. If we have proved anything to ourselves since 2010, it's that premierships come with hard work, not quick fixes, instability, and rash spending. I would liken 'paying the fine' with going into overdraft and being happy to pay penalty rates for quick access to costly cash. I just don't think it sets a good example for every other facet of the football club. I'm really proud--tremendously proud--of our on-field success, but I'm quietly proud of our off-field governance, administration, and management. I'm not interested in throwing that away, which is to say: I don't see paying penalty rates as a 'shrewd investment' in any way, shape, or form.
peeing away cash straight into the AFL coffers is a Hird back to Essendon move for me. Not nearly patient enough. I put my trust in B. Gale and the rest of the executive. They've earned it.

Agreed Broad.
Also think we have good talent coming through and solid young players that I can see playing for years to come.
This year alone we have seen plenty to be excited about from:
Sonsie
Cumberland
Gibcus
Miller
MRJ
Promising signs, improvement or generally worth keeping from:
Ralph
Clarke
Dow I think another year
RCD I'd go another year
Banks & Brown apparently not too bad in the Magoo's
Ryan going OK
Biggie not bad/good depth.

Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Saturday afternoon's thrilling three-point win over Frankston at the Swinburne Centre.
Jake Aarts (35 disposals, five tackles, six clearances, five inside-50s)
"Outstanding game once again, he led us for contested possessions and found himself in every contest throughout the day. He is in really good form and has led our team the way we know he can."
Riley Collier-Dawkins (29 disposals, five inside-50s, four clearances, three marks)
"He's in a really good patch of form. He's been really solid in-and-around contents and bursting from stoppage the way we know he can. He continues to find the ball and used it well on the weekend."
Hugo Ralphsmith (27 disposals, six inside-50s, three tackles, one goal)
"Was a standout player on the ground. His foot skills were really good and I thought his starting points from a defensive point of view were fairly strong. He got involved in attack right throughout the day, often on multiple occasions within the one chain. He was also really solid in the contest."
Sam Banks (26 disposals, nine marks, four inside-50s, four rebound-50s)
"He's tracking sensationally, he's had a really strong first year at the Club. His work-rate was super high, he used the ball really well. He's a very exciting player for us, and will be a very good player for years to come."
Rhyan Mansell (21 disposals, nine marks, five tackles, five rebound-50s)
"I thought it was equal to his best game for the season. He set the tone physically and was uncompromising. He came forward to impact really strongly and I thought he had a really solid impact on the game."
Tom Brown (19 disposals, four marks, four inside-50s, two clearances)
"Continues to excite those who watch him play at this level. His talent is undeniable, he is super clean with the footy and makes great decisions with ball-in-hand, and I thought his contest work on the weekend was much-improved. A great step forward in the right direction."
Judson Clarke (19 disposals, five marks, two inside-50s, three goals)
"He was wonderful on the weekend. His run-and-carry really stood out but also his confidence in his own ability and he finished really well on the day. The play of the day was his clutch goal in the dying seconds of the game, which was really pleasing to see from a young player who wanted to step up and take that moment."
Thomson Dow (17 disposals, seven inside-50s, four clearances, three marks)
"He's been in really good form lately. He was probably slightly down on that high standard that he's set for himself in the second half for the season, but he was a valuable contributor still."
Ivan Soldo (13 disposals, 37 hit-outs, eight clearances, three inside-50s, one goal)
"I thought Ivan was solid without standing out. He definitely got the better of the ruck dual as you would expect... He stepped in and was a presence for us around the football."
Sydney Stack (13 disposals, eight tackles, five marks, five inside-50s)
"The really pleasing aspect of Sydney's game was his tackle pressure. He had four in the first quarter and finished with eight, I thought he was desperate and he played great team footy. He always looks a step above the level, it's just a matter of seeing it consistently."
Jacob Bauer (12 disposals, 10 marks, three tackles, two goals)
"Had a sensational day, with the exception of his finishing in front of goals, which is usually a strength of his. But, the one thing that does stand out is he's getting to great spots, he's getting opportunities, and he fights tooth-and-nail to create a contest forward of centre for us. To come in and do what he's done in the second half of the season has been outstanding, and I'm certain there are big things to come in Jacob's career."
Samson Ryan (11 disposals, five marks, two clearances)
"Didn't have a huge impact on the game and he missed out on a few free kicks in front of goals, but he's had an outstanding season and has made huge gains in his game. His aerial work has improved out of sight and I think he's going to flourish into a really good ruck/forward option for us moving forward."
Bigoa Nyuon (11 disposals, four marks, four rebound-50s)
"His best was really good on the weekend, he's been pretty solid in behind the footy for most of the season and we all know what he can do athletically."
Will Martyn (eight disposals, two marks, two rebound-50s)
"On paper, his game doesn't look outstanding, but he actually had a reasonable game defensively for us. It's been a focus for Will to improve his defensive and I thought he was quite solid on the weekend, but probably didn't have the offensive impact we're used to seeing from him."
Mate Colina (four disposals, three clearances)
"Had a much-improved game. He had a great opportunity to play in the ruck when the game was on the line late in the game, and I think that was something that will be really good for his development. He competes really well and gave us a number of great looks from stoppage and I think he's a project player that we're certainly very excited about."
