Title: Changes for next week against the Saints?
Post by: one-eyed on August 04, 2023, 10:42:36 PM
Obviously Cotch, Dusty and Grimes will be available.

Hopper to miss under the concussion protocol.

Rioli went off with an ankle but came back on and played out the game.

Fire away with your chances?  :help

Yeah lets just keep dropping Cumberland after one game and wonder why he's not tearing it up. Obviously the ten goal loss was down to his inclusion. Then we can wait until after the next VFL bye to bring him back after not bringing him straight in after kicking a bag the week before that despite having no forwards. Hopefully the fourth time will be a charm.  :shh.

I would not drop any player after a week but feel like Cumberland is increasingly given Dan Connor vibes every week.

It’s ok to defend a player you like but if you can’t, from a football sense identity why most don’t rate him, well that’s on you. Look, he would be a superstar in the local comp where it’s all about him. In the big league it’s about the team.

So do we have proof that Cumberland is  like Dan O’Connor, any examples of his bad behaviour  would be great.
I’m not sure which small forward who can kick goals we would replace him with, this bloke just looks confused now and doesn’t know what role  he is meant to playing and is making stupid mistakes.
Am I right that He has only played about 10 AFL games ?

Now let's do all the plodders you constantly talk up....how about we start with the two who got less possessions combined than Cumberland did...or were they just "playing their role"? :shh :shh

Would not be bringing Cotchin or Grimes back in. Both have been horrible just play kids in their place.

Ins for me would be the following with reasons.

Miller -  to fb. Atm i think we need to delist him but i sure would like to get another look at what he can offer as a KPD. As such id play him in defense for the rest of the year. If any one tells me Tylar Young is the way fwd i will spew.

Cumberland - sees the rest of the year out show some faith in him tiges.

Brown - Play him off h/b and pee the soft weak as water squib in Short off.

Bauer - is versatile and as much as i would like to see us play him fwd i think hes a good replacement for Grimes. Can always swing him fwd if needed.

Banks - Stays on a wing just let him play the year out. Off season he really needs to spend time on the weights building himself up.

Clarke - Has shown promise like most of the kids he still needs size and strength. But he need to play not rot away in the magoos.

Nyuon - Similar thoughts to Miller would really like to see what he has to offer as a kpf though. Play him the rest of the season.

Ryan - Appears to be the heir apparent to Nankervis atm. Like the others play him second ruck and he does offer something fwd.End of season he too goes in a room with a carcass and pumps weights as size and strength are badly needed.

Coulthard - play him fwd the rest of the season with a few stints up field.Looks more likely than MRJ.

Sonsie -  is another we need to just get games into him. Would like to see him played the rest of the year and played to his strengths.

If ive missed a kid apologies. As called for Something close to this should have been the aim most of the year. Its a wasted year as far as im concerned.

I think Cumberland may get delisted this year. We aren't in a phase where we can carry a guy on hope and talent. We need each spot maximised and being developed.

Seems to be too much hope and unfortunately elite sport chews these stories up pretty quick if they don't evolve. I'd love to be wrong but I feel Cumberland is running out I chances in this environment.

Need to get the club doctor involved with Graham, Mansell, Soldo, Pickett, Young and McIntosh. It appears they have all simultaneously contracted an allergy that makes them allergic to leather.

Seems to be a a nasty phobia doing the rounds as well especially noticeable with blokes like Short that being afraid of contact.

It's a tough one while we are mathematically in it.
Out - Dan Rioli, Jacob Hopper, Marlion Pickett, Kamdyn McIntosh, Rhyan Mansell, Ivan Soldo
In: Dylan Grimes, Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin, Tyler Sonsie, Thomson Dow, Tom Brown

Don't need 2 ruckman at Marvel.  Let Nank ruck all day.
I have had enough of Pickett & McIntosh.

Team Tips:

Richmond should welcome back star veteran trio Dustin Martin (managed), Trent Cotchin (managed) and Dylan Grimes (neck) for Sunday’s must-win clash. But Jacob Hopper has already been ruled out after failing a concussion test on Friday night, while Daniel Rioli is in doubt after hurting his ankle against the Bulldogs – although the nine-day break between games will help his chances. Maurice Rioli (concussion) is another option for the Tigers. Martin’s return might make it hard for Noah Cumberland to hold his spot, while Jacob Bauer might be vulnerable too.

Richmond superstar Dustin Martin and veteran Trent Cotchin will make their returns against St Kilda on Sunday as part of the Tigers’ last-ditch finals bid. Martin and Cotchin missed the Tigers’ blowout loss to Western Bulldogs last weekend with soreness off a short five-day break. But the Tigers have confirmed the champion duo will take on the Saints this weekend.

Co-captain Dylan Grimes, 32, is a test for this week after he was a late out against the Dogs with a pinched nerve in his neck, while linebreaker Daniel Rioli will have a light week on the track in a bid to recover from a rolled ankle.

There will only be the three changes Grimes, Cotchin, Martin,
The three outs well Hopper and Rioli inj and the usual suspect Cumberland will get the arse and Banks will likely be made sub playing kids is not the go with mini.
You just know this will happen there will be few kids and there will be no perseverence with Cumberland and Banks.
The fwd line will again look like a midfield and very ordinary favorites will once again get games in front of kids skewing even further the need to find the right structural balance get games into kids and find out what some have to offer.

Mini's team this week will likely go like this again. # means should not be playing imo. ## means wrong position.

Grimes# - Young# - Vlastuin.

Grimes will be rushed back in when the reality is he has been horrible and should have been dropped. Young the most fumbly one dimensional kpd in the comp unfortunately they are scared to try anyone else. Also i think injury prevents us dropping him but to play him as anything but a stopper is folly.

Short# - Balta - Broad.
Laughable that we rip into a lot of players for not being defensive or lack pressure and here we play Short week in week out.  And in defense where the last time i looked no matter how outside you are you still need to defend Brown should debut but Mini doesnt have the foresight or courage.

Ross## - Taranto - McIntosh #
Yep he will keep those two on the wings no matter how little they get it or how many mistakes they make. While at it he will continue to play his best wingman forward where his form has been terrible.

Nankervis - Martin  - Prestia
Well not a lot of options with the Hopper injury. Its either Cotchin, Martin who is badly needed  or god forbid Graham starting here. Cotchin like Grimes rushed back in coming off horrid form was another who should have been dropped not rested. Prestia is having an ordinary year and Graham's form is also very poor with just the very odd good game here or there mixed in with a lot of crap. No courage to just not play them and give a kid a try.

 Bolton - Graham# - Pickett.##
Yep the futile and dumb move of playing mids instead of forwards and its not only not working but those playing there are badly out of form Bolton excluded who is a capable forward as well as mid.

Cotchin# - Riewoldt - Mansell#
It is so funny because we all know its likely to happen. On Mansell and the lack of polish for a fwd. The old saying no matter how hard you polish a turd its still a turd. If Cotchin comes back in it has to be as a mid.

Soldo# - Baker - Bauer - Coulthard.
Hopefully Bauer starts and Coulthard as well. Baker will probably start on the ground. Why we persist with Soldo who knows but mini will.

Banks.
It will be a kid who cops it it is rarely a favorite.

The Tigers are set to make multiple changes for their clash against St Kilda on Sunday, coming off a disappointing loss to the Western Bulldogs. Dustin Martin (soreness), Trent Cotchin (soreness) and Dylan Grimes (neck) are all in line to return after missing round 21. Jacob Hopper (concussion) will miss, while Daniel Rioli (ankle) is facing a fitness test. Jacob Bauer (four disposals, one goal) was quiet in what was a poor team performance against the Bulldogs. Tyler Sonsie (31 disposals and eight clearances) played well in the VFL, while Thomson Dow (24 and seven) was also busy, with Judson Clarke (shoulder) now ruled out for the rest of the season.
